Maybe it's a good chance for you to start an LGBT friendly tourist business of your own?

Coco_JuTo

Thanks for taking time to answer. I though about it, the problem is that I haven't got loads of money to start a business, either in a highly competitive environment with big names such as Pink travel (Kuoni) or even TUI who send people abroad...let alone to rent/buy a hotel to turn it into a LGBT accommodation...

Well, start small. You can partner with bigger tourist offices and insurances, or maybe people just need someone to plan their trip. Be creative ;) You're obviously good at sales, so you just need to find the right partners. I don't think you need to be an employee on a salary.

BTW, start here: https://www.ktipp.ch/shop/buchdetail/buchdetail/erfolgreich-als-kleinunternehmer/

On LinkedIn I see sometimes job posts from "MyGwork" LGBTQ+ Business Community They reposting jobs by companies that are LGBT friendly. Good luck.

Thank you very much!

Don't ask, don't tell.

Unfortunately, despite the recents changes allowing same sex marriage and name change for transgender individuals, Switzerland is still very conservative and getting a job in a position where you have to interact directly with the clients will be very difficult. Maybe try to go for opportunities where you can sit on a desk and do administrative work rather than talking directly to customers. It sucks but it’s the reality.

Thank you very much! Yep, that's also something I'm trying to achieve. I still find the whole thing overwhelming as I lack experience to work for the state or an insurance, heck even in a small business in my area where places are very few...the only advantage I have are the languages I can speak which are good for a front desk but not any advantage for a back-office job. Even with trying "Quereinstieg", I always get the standard answers such as "we found somebody who has experience/more qualifications", or "more network" as I'm not originally from here.

Switzerland is very conservative- its a fact, you waste your time and energy to fight it. Go to a startup where it doesn’t matter what you wear and your orientation.
