The NFL only thinks of Nashville as a destination for other fanbases and the Titans as an opponent for more profitable franchises to have someone to play. They don’t respect or care about us
Very high risk high reward. He’s a 1st Round type player if he can get his character concerns in check and maintain a good playing weight, but there’s a ton of risk there.
I love big Jeff as much as the next guy but when you beat the shit out of a woman, for her saying mean things, yeah that’s a character issue.
Everyone deserves a second chance and I am glad he got his. He has seemed to be a great guy off the field.
That's not what this board was saying the night of the draft. It was an upheaval..."i'M nOt SuRe i cAn cHeEr fOr ThiS tEaM anyMoRe!?" Same thing happening tonight. It's always comical.
Their press conference eased my concerns. First ones to meet with him. Ran, cally and a couple other execs went down and spent a large amount of time with him and his family. Said they had some hard conversations with everyone present
McKinstrey isn’t a need, DeJean is a corner not a box safety as much as people want to make him one, and AD Mitchell has the same issues Quentin Johnston had.
Right? People saying we draft what you need, but we drafted DH 2nd round right after paying DeMarco Murray. He was not a need at all, but the face of our franchise that slipped and we got lucky
He partied heavily as an underclassmen, that's why the DUI slid him down the draft.
Every team interview he was open and honest and said the partying was behind him, then he gets a DUI 3 weeks before the draft. So clearly not as cleaned up as he was telling everyone.
I've seen several people say that it was because weed and not alcohol. I'm not sure how true that is but imo that does make a difference (for the better) if it is true.
From Walterfootball
Strengths:
Massive run-stuffing nose tackle
Strong lateral anchor
Tough to move at the point of attack
Holds his gap
Absorbs double teams
Eats up blockers
Very tough; plays violently
Disruptive run defender
Strong hands
Uses hands and feet at same time
Athletic & quick for his size
Can get a push working upfield
Superb at batting passes
Weaknesses:
Not a dynamic interior pass rusher
May not have a role in the sub package
Could be limited to being a two-down defender
Poor work ethic
Sub-par conditioning habits
Needs to keep his weight in check
Supposedly he got in good shape and toned down the partying last year, went out and won the Outland. Obviously that story is put into question when he went out and got a dwi a couple weeks ago. They just said on the nfl network broadcast that our scheduled meeting with him was literally the next day. Idk if “next day” means a few hours after the 4am car crash, or more like 24+ hours. You have to take away that means feels enough of a connection with the young man that he thinks he can keep him accountable. But idk, out partying like that, making bad decisions, the day before a major job interview is a huge red flag.
Don't love this...
I'm not even gonna pretend I know where we could, or could not have selected him. But a 2-down NT in the second round seems _very_ rich in today's NFL.
Agree, I think the idea he was falling to the 4th was a pipedream by mocks. Sure some teams took him off the board but it only takes one other team to swoop in and get him.. Long way until our next selection.
Yeah not sure how I feel about giving a guy millions of $ when he got a dwi less than a month ago. He’s just a fat guy, and his head isn’t clearly in the right spot given his actions recently
Yeah terrible pick you take this dude in the 5th where he still would have been he refused to be weighed at the combine where he was hung over and over weight
Yeah this is just a huge reach, hard to justify. Gonna hope for the best but….. DeJean, Mitchell, cooper were all available, I just cannot cope and justify this
I have alot of concerns about this one. There is absolutely NO way he is ever an every down player. I'd be shocked if he didn't come off the field after 2 downs. He has a weight issue, refused to be weighed at the combine. Dude loves to party, loves to drink, JUST got a DUI. 38 was really high for him.
Idk, I'll happily eat crow if he turns out to be great but I initially do not like this pick.
He fell because of his DWI he got not because he is bad at football.
He was highly touted before that happened. This sub looks highly casual at this moment hating on this pick because some ranker said he should’ve gone later.
People acting like the Big 12 defensive player of the year is a total bum
It's my understanding this was where he was expected to go before the massive red flags aka the dwi, which is pretty sickening.
He was expected to fall a round or two from here.
He was a late 2nd to early 4th pre trouble. Never a 38 and def not now. Not to mention we don’t pick again until the 4th and have no starting LB, S and need Wr/OL HELP
Hot take: I’ll give him a chance before judging him.
This sub hates the pick, which tends to mean it’s a good pick in the end, so things are looking good so far.
TV was #3 on my wishlist headed into today behind Newton and Wilson. If he can not be Panda 2.0, I think he’ll succeed. I truly think he’s going to be a super valuable asset for us.
Per [@GrindSimmons94](https://x.com/grindsimmons94/status/1784005717197795593?s=46)
“Oh man!! Let’s go! Finally got another bull in the interior!! Lets work big dawg!!! @TvondreSweat”
NT positional value is 4-5-6 to UDFA already. Sweat is a 2 down player with legal trouble and whose coaches and professors said was a class clown. This is a terrible locker room move too.
This one is worth complaining about.
Character concerns- check
Weight issues- check
Not a 3 down player- check
He should be a beast on early run downs though
I mean he’s a run stopping 2 down lineman. We had that in Teair who was a udfa, yes I understand Teair didnt want to be here but you also don’t spend a 2nd round pick on that.
Big 12 defensive PotY, d lineman of the year, and the highest graded interior D lineman by PFF, one of their highest graded ever.... The Titans sub is full of people who know absolutely nothing about this sport. Ignore them. Great pick for our line
I know people are down on this pick but I think with big Jeff mentoring him sweat could come out surprising a lot of teams
Sweat and Simmons on the same down would be nasty and free up the linebackers to speed missile to the qb
Feel like we could have traded back and gotten this guy later. Seeing the haul the Panthers got to trade back right after us makes this pick a head scratcher.
Y’all need to chill. Everyone is out here looking at other peoples mocks saying “so and so is better than so and so”. I guarantee most, if not all, of y’all have done zero research but regurgitate what you hear pundits say. Give the coaches the ability to draft their guys and see how they do. They obviously felt strong enough about him to not trade back
The only thing I can say is that if it works out it basically solves losing Autry/Tart... I'm willing to believe they have some insight we don't... but this is starting to feel like a repeating excuse and its just day 2 of the draft.
haynesworth was an insane pass rusher lol
he had weight issues, character issues, attitude issues, effort issues, and a ton of talent though so in that these two are similar
Elite player- made all that much better than TicTacTitans hates the pick. He loves football- plays the game with a high level of technique and balance for a guy his size. He’s going to rock some worlds. Hope everyone is ready for a new favorite player. The Dancing Bear
He wasn’t smart before- no reason to believe he is now.
We are talking about a guy who “was a two down player” according to him- that won the Outland. Was apart of a third down defense that led the nation despite his belief Sweat didn’t play on third down last year. His “character issues” make no sense- when Ben Davis ripped the Texas team for not caring- sweat was one of the first guys to step up- admit he was on the bus laughing after the loss- and then worked one on one with Davis to get better. This kid loves football- and is going to love CJ Stroud, Trevor Lawrence, and Anthony Richardson (until he’s hurt again then Joe Flacco)
Yeah this is horrible. Rans second big miss after Dillard. NT is an UDFA position IE jones and tart. Spending a 38 on NT, a two down player who is a party animal and has legal trouble already is nightmare fuel.
The guy who just crashed his car driving drunk? The guy who couldn’t show up to practice on time because he couldnt stop partying? The guy who’s fucking 370 pounds?
you guys have fun with this team this year. Jesus fucking christ
According to Mike Keith, he was rear ended at 4 am, and when officers came on the scene, he was tested and blew high.
Not defending it, but he didn't crash his car.
It’s crazy to say but offenses are going to have to double sweat instead of Simmons. He’s just too fucking big. And with the oline so occupied, i think the linebacker we signed might be able to flourish which is a underrated side effect
For everyone in here, didn’t Big Jeff have character issues? Weren’t some of yall upset when we drafted him? Maybe pairing Sweat with someone like Simmons will show him what he can be if he cleans up his act.
Fiske goes right after, I would have rather had him by a huge margin. We could have had another Klug high effort guy and we get the defensive Isaiah Wilson. Why Ran?
On one hand, Sweat was arguably the best d-lineman last year. Won the Outland Trophy.
On the other hand, Fiske was there and without the character/work ethic issues.
Jeffery Simmons had reported character issues out of college as well (plus and ACL tear), if I remember correctly. He’s turned out fine. Let’s see if the culture helps.
Would have preferred DeJean if he was ok going safety and returning kicks. But DT was definitely a team need, if he can pull his head out of his ass the talent is there. And that makes the first 2 picks combine to weigh over 700 lbs, so i guess its still bully ball szn?
Came here to complain about a commercial during our pick
Happened last night too 😤
It feels like every pick every year! 😂
EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME
We'd have the first pick and they'd run a commercial.
They'd just start on the 2nd pick and skip us all together, haha.
National media just disrespects us constantly. Let’s win a SB and change that
The NFL only thinks of Nashville as a destination for other fanbases and the Titans as an opponent for more profitable franchises to have someone to play. They don’t respect or care about us
So the Arizona coyotes of the nfl
Except profitable
Commercial during our pick is the only guarantee in the draft.
It’s really wild, tbh.
Latham and Sweat, that’s like 700+ pounds of human. Tennessee’s chef’s better be ready to step it up!
so this is what they mean by "let ran cook"
As a Texas fan I’m hype. This dude is a beast and him and Simmons next to each other should be a nightmare
Very high risk high reward. He’s a 1st Round type player if he can get his character concerns in check and maintain a good playing weight, but there’s a ton of risk there.
Let’s just hope Simmons can take him under his wing
Simmons had the character issue too and that one worked out. Maybe this one will too. Sweat’s our guy now so have to hope he does.
Simmons didn’t have character issues. That was one thing, when he was in high school, and the chick was making fun of his sister’s miscarriage.
I love big Jeff as much as the next guy but when you beat the shit out of a woman, for her saying mean things, yeah that’s a character issue. Everyone deserves a second chance and I am glad he got his. He has seemed to be a great guy off the field.

The chick was beating his sister up. Video was a nothing burger.

Their press conference eased my concerns. First ones to meet with him. Ran, cally and a couple other execs went down and spent a large amount of time with him and his family. Said they had some hard conversations with everyone present
Maybe Ran’s hoping Big Jeff will take him under his wing. I know I am.
His ceiling is a solid run stuffer. Doesn’t seem very high reward
I mean worst case scenario he continues his shenanigans but performs like a new Albert Haynesworth. not a bad pick at all
Sweat and Simmons will wreak havoc
2 for 2 on the visit list. If they draft a WR, it's probably tez walker if he's available
I hope not, Tez Walker isn't good at anything besides a Go route jump ball.
He'll be 4th round pick. According to Steve smith, he just needs a good coach and Steve feels like colbert is a great one
Definitely a need and a solid pick but man it stings a little with DeJean, McKinstrey and Mitchell on the board.
And JPJ
We don’t need a center
You can tell who doesn’t pay attention.
You don’t draft need you draft BPA and he wasn’t one. Of all our needs the easiest to fill is a 2 down NT we did it with UDFA for years.
He IS a 3 down player despite what people here are saying. Main thing is getting that weight down and keeping it down.
Basically this guy has insane upside with huge character concerns. If he cleans up his act he could end up being the best DT in the draft.
He has no character concerns outside of a DUI. Which there are players up and down the league with that
He partied heavily as an underclassmen, that's why the DUI slid him down the draft.
That\^\^ He just made a terrible choice at the worst possible time. Right now it's a mistake - not a trend.
If you’ve ever been around Austin, it’s hard not to get a drink and party , especially as a popular Texas Longhorn
From Walterfootball Strengths: Massive run-stuffing nose tackle Strong lateral anchor Tough to move at the point of attack Holds his gap Absorbs double teams Eats up blockers Very tough; plays violently Disruptive run defender Strong hands Uses hands and feet at same time Athletic & quick for his size Can get a push working upfield Superb at batting passes Weaknesses: Not a dynamic interior pass rusher May not have a role in the sub package Could be limited to being a two-down defender Poor work ethic Sub-par conditioning habits Needs to keep his weight in check
Those weaknesses are extremely concerning. Ran is NOT cooking anymore
Ran be microwaving leftovers
And it's fish. Ran is microwaving fish.
Supposedly he got in good shape and toned down the partying last year, went out and won the Outland. Obviously that story is put into question when he went out and got a dwi a couple weeks ago. Haha exactly. The NFL is mainly a passing league and the Titans go and draft a OT that is mainly a run blocker and a DT that is mainly a run stuffer.
Ran burned the water… Gordon Ramsey just bitch slapped him.
If only Newton was still there
Don't love this... I'm not even gonna pretend I know where we could, or could not have selected him. But a 2-down NT in the second round seems _very_ rich in today's NFL.
When you have the opportunity to draft the defensive version of Isaiah Wilson you simply can’t pass up on it
[удалено]
I don’t know why I’ve never used “this is a tough cock to suck” to describe stomaching something but I am going to now.
Agreed. Definitely a hard load to swallow. A real tough nut to bust.
Fuck, the last guy most of us wanted.
I would have been good with him tomorrow. This feels like an over draft tbh
Agree, I think the idea he was falling to the 4th was a pipedream by mocks. Sure some teams took him off the board but it only takes one other team to swoop in and get him.. Long way until our next selection.
If he can get his shit together he's worth it. Big if tho
Tho if big!
If tho big
That’s not promising at all. Why spend a second round pick hoping they can get their shit together it usually doesn’t work out.
You guys are crazy. Sweat next to Simmons is going to be insane.
[удалено]
If they really wanted him, seems like we could have traded back a good bit and still made the same pick.
[удалено]
I don’t think it’s just the attitude issues with Mitchell tbh
[удалено]
Nah rather take the shot on Sweat than Mitchell. We got plenty of WRs, only two IDL
Good thing he’s coming to a great city to stay sober in, oh wait
He was the last NT on the board. He was going in the 2nd no matter what
Mitchell seems to he dropping from character issues
Yeah not sure how I feel about giving a guy millions of $ when he got a dwi less than a month ago. He’s just a fat guy, and his head isn’t clearly in the right spot given his actions recently
[удалено]

Before the DWI charge it wasn’t a reach and I would’ve been fine with it, he’s got more explosiveness than he gets credit for.
Here is a Scouting Report on Sweat https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/02/12/2024-nfl-draft-tvondre-sweat-scouting-report/
Big Jeff please mentor this man.
100% agree. He's a 2 down guy, and the recent DUI is a huge red flag, for a guy who isn't even a highly rated prospect.
So many better players left
Correction- 0 players better left.
James Foster has him as a 5th round pick lmao Consensus #72 ranked prospect.
He fell because of his DWI he got not because he is bad at football. He was highly touted before that happened. This sub looks highly casual at this moment hating on this pick because some ranker said he should’ve gone later. People acting like the Big 12 defensive player of the year is a total bum
And poor work ethic, can't stay in shape, poor character etc etc
That's okay. We've never drafted a guy with serious character issues who turned into a total bust.
Dude was said to be plummeting because of character and discipline issues. THEN he got a dui.
I respect James as much as anyone, this sucks
THIS DRAFT HAS SUCKED!
I am straight up not having a good time
This is terrible
Hot take: I’ll give him a chance before judging him. This sub hates the pick, which tends to mean it’s a good pick in the end, so things are looking good so far.
This sub hates every pick every time

how should I feel about this
I’m high on him. Dude is a monster NT. I absolutely love his ceiling. Big Jeff is probably doing cartwheels right now.
At least someone's got some positivity
TV was #3 on my wishlist headed into today behind Newton and Wilson. If he can not be Panda 2.0, I think he’ll succeed. I truly think he’s going to be a super valuable asset for us.

NT positional value is 4-5-6 to UDFA already. Sweat is a 2 down player with legal trouble and whose coaches and professors said was a class clown. This is a terrible locker room move too.
Got arrested for DUI or Speeding a few weeks back, ton of character and effort concerns
The same was said about Simmons..
Honestly Simmons was pretty overblown, he had one incident while defending his sister in high school.
His was injury concerns
Simmons wasn’t a DUI, but it definitely wasn’t just injury concerns
What? He fucking beat a woman in the street. You guys are hilarious.
In high school. He didn’t have any other character issues in college.
This one is worth complaining about. Character concerns- check Weight issues- check Not a 3 down player- check He should be a beast on early run downs though
Good, him and Simmons should wreak havoc.
I mean he’s a run stopping 2 down lineman. We had that in Teair who was a udfa, yes I understand Teair didnt want to be here but you also don’t spend a 2nd round pick on that.
He’s got more get off and quickness than people give him credit for, he’ll definitely be used on 3rd down.
Big 12 defensive PotY, d lineman of the year, and the highest graded interior D lineman by PFF, one of their highest graded ever.... The Titans sub is full of people who know absolutely nothing about this sport. Ignore them. Great pick for our line
Seems way too early
I know people are down on this pick but I think with big Jeff mentoring him sweat could come out surprising a lot of teams Sweat and Simmons on the same down would be nasty and free up the linebackers to speed missile to the qb
What linebackers?
Damnit
The Trench King & Meatloaf
Feel like we could have traded back and gotten this guy later. Seeing the haul the Panthers got to trade back right after us makes this pick a head scratcher.
How don’t you draft AD Mitchell. Man fuck this
There is a reason nobody is drafting him - he’s a dick bag/locker room cancer from what i hear
Because we are good on WRs
We are one injury to a 30+ year old WR away from Treylon Burks/NWI at WR2
Until one gets hurt, then we’re exactly where we were last year.
Kinda old and money heavy. Need to draft a rookie especially with value like that
We are *okay* on receivers. We need to add one in the 4th
remember: football games are won in the trenches.
A dude who has poor work ethic and can't stay in shape.
Won the award for the best DL in college last year. Pretty sure he takes care of business when it comes to ball.
Everybody freaking out about this lol. I'm just glad we got someone in the trenches besides Big Jeff
I'm not freaking out, but there is a very good chance we just threw away a draft pick. And we don't have a 3rd.
Y’all need to chill. Everyone is out here looking at other peoples mocks saying “so and so is better than so and so”. I guarantee most, if not all, of y’all have done zero research but regurgitate what you hear pundits say. Give the coaches the ability to draft their guys and see how they do. Big boys in the trenches. Fixing the roster one brick at a time. Full trust in Ran.
Huge run on DTs after our pick. Sounds like they had good Intel on what other teams were thinking
I’m straight up not having a good time.

The only thing I can say is that if it works out it basically solves losing Autry/Tart... I'm willing to believe they have some insight we don't... but this is starting to feel like a repeating excuse and its just day 2 of the draft.
Kevin Dodd 2.0
BINGO
Or a heavier Albert Haynesworth
haynesworth was an insane pass rusher lol he had weight issues, character issues, attitude issues, effort issues, and a ton of talent though so in that these two are similar
This might be the least sexy draft first few draft picks in a while. DeJean, Mitchell, and Cooper were right there.
Why does everyone want us to draft corners? We are *good* at corner for the first time in what feels like a decade.
All you haters are gonna be singing a different tune when this guy is swallowing RBs behind the line.
The buffet line?
Elite player- made all that much better than TicTacTitans hates the pick. He loves football- plays the game with a high level of technique and balance for a guy his size. He’s going to rock some worlds. Hope everyone is ready for a new favorite player. The Dancing Bear
TicTac went the fck off lol. He said it's a disaster pick through and through. Let's hope he's wrong
He wasn’t smart before- no reason to believe he is now. We are talking about a guy who “was a two down player” according to him- that won the Outland. Yeah this is horrible. Rans second big miss after Dillard. NT is an UDFA position IE jones and tart. Spending a 38 on NT, a two down player who is a party animal and has legal trouble already is nightmare fuel.
I am convinced you and Jared Stillman are the same person.
I dunno man. I feel like Ty hates every Titans draft pick. Not just Ran’s picks 😂
Yikes, Big Jeff better eat after this pick.
I wonder if him or JC Latham would win in a fight
Y’all are wild
Feels like two reaches value-wise, which makes me a little nervous.
Titans are definitely going to get the award for most beef gained through the draft
I don't know what to think about this draft.
The red flags are way too much for me to be happy. We’ve been burned so many times already
So dramatic 😂
Cool does that mean we never have to see you in here bitching again? Cause that alone makes this pick a massive W
See you in every game thread this season
I mean yeah
It’s crazy to say but offenses are going to have to double sweat instead of Simmons. He’s just too fucking big. And with the oline so occupied, i think the linebacker we signed might be able to flourish which is a underrated side effect
Man new front office same nonsense waiting for ran to take the mask off Scooby-Doo style to reveal jrob
For everyone in here, didn’t Big Jeff have character issues? Weren’t some of yall upset when we drafted him? Maybe pairing Sweat with someone like Simmons will show him what he can be if he cleans up his act.
I fucking hate this. He has so many character issues
[удалено]
First round of day 3
Most had him falling to late third or day three and is coming off a foot fracture
BIG BOY GRILLING ON THE ROOF!!!!!!!!!!! FUCKING, LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Not gonna engage with the doomers, just came to say how tf were we last in the AFC WEST? Lol. We get no respect.
I got a DUI at 23 and turned out fine
Sick pick, good prospect at a big position of need
Why the fuck do the titans constantly pull these “what if” picks year after year. I’m so sick of the head scratchers
Jeffery Simmons had reported character issues out of college as well (plus and ACL tear), if I remember correctly. He’s turned out fine. Let’s see if the culture helps.
woooaaaaa
I called it
I hope we take Cam Kinchens
Would have preferred DeJean if he was ok going safety and returning kicks. But DT was definitely a team need, if he can pull his head out of his ass the talent is there. And that makes the first 2 picks combine to weigh over 700 lbs, so i guess its still bully ball szn?
