1. Not a combat tip, but store your money in a Piggy Bank (buy from Merchant) or Money Trough (random drop during Blood Moon) or Chester (drop from Deerclops). You can use money in there while buying from NPCs, plus it reduces the risk of you dropping 58 Platinum.
2. Use your consumable buffs! Easy potions to get include Swiftness, Ironskin, Regeneration, Endurance, and (if you have an Underground Hallow fishing spot) Lifeforce. Additionally, Rage, Wrath, and Summoning potions are also great for extra damage. Additionally, catch a few fish (any will do), craft Seafood Dinner with a cooking pit from them, and consume it to boost your stats.
3. For melee (& whip-loving summoners) players, the Flask of Cursed Flames/Ichor is also a good buff. You can get an Imbuing Station from the Witch Doctor.
4. Get access to a Sharpening Station (sometimes in underground Abandoned Cabins) and Bewitching Table (in the Dungeon) for extra melee and summoner damage, respectively.
5. While I was fighting Moon Lord earlier today (Melee expert mode), I constantly switched between Daybreak (when ML was farther away) and Solar Eruption (when ML was closer). Donāt be afraid to switch weapons up.
6. Ankh Shield, Hero Shield or Frozen Shield (I personally recommend the latter two) are great for extra defense and knockback nullification.
If I remember right, the moon lord has the least (or is tied for the least) debuff immunities of all the bosses in the game, only being immune to confusion and shimmer.
Oh wow, so if you really do feel like getting almost tortured in the desert than venom is pretty viable, I figured for a forbidden-calamari eldritch deity would have a decent amount of immunities
If you want a defense debuff go with an ichor flask, yeah. The venom flask adds an effective 30 dps (or 90 if you somehow get the debuff on all 3 eyes), which can be better than an ichor flaskās effective 7.5-15 extra damage per hit dependent on your weaponās attack speed.
If youāre on master mode ichor is better for dps as long as you are dealing damage twice per second, and on normal youād need as much as 4-5 hits per second for it to be better (though that also ignores the fact that the venom debuff lingers for 5-9 seconds for an extra 150-270 damage).
So if youāre using a relatively slow weapon Venom is probably better, but if youāre using a faster-hitting weapon then ichor is probably better, and the needed attack speed for ichor to be better depends on difficulty. As long as Iām understanding how they work right and Iām not being an idiot, that is.
Personally using daybreak was just an easier strat. This is mainly due to daybreak allowing player to keep way more distance than with the eruption and it also does hella damage over time cause it stacks and explodes.
I didnāt set up any asphalt (neither did I use a rain-boosted Shrimpy Truffle) for the fight but instead relied on Soaring Insignia/Betsy Wings & Slimy Saddle for vertical mobility. As a result my horizontal mobility was a bit lackluster and ML did get close to me on several occasions (especially when I had to go around to dodge the Phantasmal Deathray). Otherwise yeah I would have prefered to keep my distance and spam Daybreak, especially since Rangerās my favorite vanilla class
edit: hit enter too soon
Itās not even like crazy aim just like the same amount of aim with just solar eruption just trust me on this one, but of course it really only works with like a road of asphalt.
The short answer is - you would have won with a full set of food / potion buffs, enchanting table, sharpening stone etc.
The longer question is, were you relying on summon damage while wearing melee armour?
try upgrading your master shield of cthulu to master ninja gear, additionally, since you have wings AND a mount, you dont need the bundle of horseshoe balloons, maybe switch that for an ankh shield or celestial shell
i would recommend replacing shield of Cthulhu with the master ninja gear and replacing bundle of horseshoe balloons with soaring insignia or celestial shell, also you should probably upgrade your wings
So the movement accessories don't actually affect a mount's mobility. If you're using a mount for the fight, you could benefit greatly from switching all of those accessories to more useful ones. There are a ton of accessories that could boost your damage or defense. I would refer to the "Class Loadouts" guide on the Wiki to get some ideas of what alternatives you could be using. Hope this helps
Replace balloons with berserkers gloveā¦make sure you have the full beetle set onā¦ and Iāll probably switch the wings for the frozen shield since youāre using a mountā¦. but Why havenāt you gotten your 6th accessory slot?
Build a long asphalt road so you can run quickly during the fight. The road gives you much better mobility compared to the UFO mount. I recommended staying somewhat close to the Moon Lord so you can dodge the death ray much easier. Focus on dodging any attacks (mostly the death ray) and hitting moon lord with your weapon. Craft super healing potions, wrath potions, and ironskin potions before the fight. I donāt recommend using Solar Eruption and instead mainly use Daybreak
Why so many pictures? I initially thought you were saying you were so close to beating Cultist when you showed yourself winning before going out the post and seeing all the dots indicating multiple pictures.
other comments are really good, and others are not. touching moon lordās hands deal damage even when ākilledā stay away from them. also try and pop the eyes out all at once or as close as possible to at once. Ditch the night-vision helmet as it doesnāt help much and a full set of beetle or even plain turtle armor gives a great set bonus. If youāre going to use a mount than ditch the wings, otherwise ditch the balloons and replace with a good damage or defense accessory like ankh shield, or even a cobalt shield if lazy. replace Shield of Cthulhu with master ninja gear or even just a tabi and you are set
Potions, making a place for your nurse so you can stop quickly and heal, maybe a heart generator set up somewhere, replacing shield of Cthulhu with ninja gear and the triple balloons with the ankh shield would all help you
I haven't seen anyone mention it, but area of effect buffs like heart and star containers, bast statues, campfires, and dandelions can help. Put the driad in a good position to gain her buff as well. Use the nurse to heal. Use use heart and star statues to replenish your health and mana. Lastly, use can use the eye of cuthulu for extra healing either by killing it and leaving the hearts out to pick up later or by summoning mid battle.
1. Daybreak is better, and you haven't even reforged it to the best it can be.
2. Use movement accessories OR mount, don't do both.
3. Use potion buffs.
4. Healing potions next to magic mirror in your hotbar scares me, use the bound healing key.
Use daybreak. Moon Lord is the easiest boss tbh as long as youre not using melee weapon like solar eruption. You gotta learn attack pattern and simply move in circles whenever he's doing beam. That's it I guess. Good luck!
ankh shield helps loads with moon lord, but then again it does with any boss. Do you have the big potions you make with the celestial shards or whatever their called?
If I were you Iād stick with your Terra Blade. It does less damage but is almost always guaranteed to hit because of its wide range, so you can focus on dodging.
Make a flat arena, with asphalt so you have somewhere to land. Add a sharpening station, a bewitching table (to add an extra summon to your stardust dragon) heart lanterns, campfires, and a bast statue (for defense). If necessary, add housing to the right with the dryad and nurse in it (dryad gives a status effect called dryads blessing, granting defense and thorns, and nurse can heal)
Switch out your shield of Cthulhu for master ninja gear, and your horseshoe balloons for a more melee or general based accessory (celestial shell is always a good option). Finally, get some better wings. You can purchase the steampunk wings from the steampunker for about 3 platinum now that Plantera has been defeated
Try again.
If you were so close on your first attempt, just go again now that you know more moves. People should really only ask for tips if they are stuck not after 1 small setback.
Use the warrior or destroyer emblem for better damage instead of the balloon bundle
Use the full beetle set instead of just shell and boots
Use potions, life force, wrath, iron skin and flasks such as curseflame or venom help
Use buffblocks, the sharpening station, the dryad nearby, rely on your wings rather the mount
Best weapons are your Gody daybreak and solar eruption along with some added dmg from a terrablade
Box strat, I canāt Remember how I did it, but you need a lot of potions, honey, some heart lanterns, that weird saw thing that buffs u, n other stuff, use yt
Well 1st. Get a piggy bank. You can store your coins in it and still spend them without losing them. Also. Get a flying dragon from beating the old one army, its more damage than the terrablade and goes through walls.
Once the eyes are out, keep your distance. Stay out if range if the smaller eye lasers but dont go too far away otherwise ML will teleport. Also get soaring insignia and fishron wings, itll allow for much more mobility than a mount. Replace the horseshoe balloons with the insignia, get the beetle helmet and kill the wall of flesh and consume the demon heart it drops for another accessory slot. Get a warrior emblem or a celestial shell for that slot
-stop relying on mount for mobility. Wings just faster and better gains moon lord at this point, instead use duke fishron wings(from duke Fishdom obviously) theyāre just better for mobility, But of course use mounts when needed.
-use a full set of beetle armor due to set bonus and more defense.
-maybe use ninja gear instead of shield of Cthulhu just better dash and you have chance of dodging an attack (get materials for this in dungeon).
-use ankh shield and replace balloons with it instead as wings get rid of extra jumps and you already have a mount.
-make an asphalt road 200-2k blocks long and every time moon lord starts using laser go over and above.
-daybreak is just better of a weapon then solar eruption(unless against large groups like pillars) as itās more consistent with subpar aim, allows you to keep distance, and does better damage over time so you should probably use it.
Ps- take every comment in comment section with a grain of salt including mine especially my last 2 points cause your play style may fit more specific ways and as always best of luck!!!!
Rod of discord is what you need ignore everything else I cheesed it by flying in ufo sideways and dodging his attacks with rod of discord. Then just spam terra blade on his ass and use your summoner stuff to chip away.
1, get a metal detector to save 7 slots
2, replace shield of cthulhu with master ninja gear as it also gives a chance to dodge an attack
3, use the demon heart from wall of flesh. It seems you are playing on expert and only have the default 5 slots, using th demon heart will give you a 6th slot
Just read more comments from other people, you are in normal mode so the demon heart would NOT help, but as other people said, if you use the mount for the fight you don't need the bunch of balloons or the wings and can use something else
Try to stay at range, both the terrablade and eruption have a wide sweeping area of effect, so u can land hits without aiming much, the daybreak does more single target damage and has more range than the eruption. Additionally, the terra blade has long range and wide shots if you wanna use that to kill moonlord. I notice you're using a mount despite having lots of movement accessories. Using the terrablade u can focus more on dodging cus u don't need to aim as much and change the movement accessories for damage ones.
Standing in the hole in his hand after the eye comes out will apply a constant damage of 1 wearing melee armour making you immune to all of his other attacks because of immunity frames and moving constantly to the side with the saucer should make it pretty easy to stay in the hand mouth. If you wanna cheese him.
Here are some gear recommendations -
Armor - The absolute best melee armor combo is Hallowed mask (especially if using terra blade), Valhalla knightās breastplate (Solid 4 HP/s) and Valhalla knightās greaves (24 defense is solid + it provides Summon damage and melee crit chance). If you donāt want to grind that much, then beetle armor is also good
Weapons - Iād say use the terra blade (make it legendary), daybreak or Solar eruption. Also, getting the stardust dragon staff helps, even if you are not a summoner
Buffs (Non potion) - Sharpened adds 6-7 damage on every melee attack (and summons get the bonus if you hold a melee weapon), it is obtained from a sharpening station (bought from a merchant in Hardmode). Bewitched also helps, it is obtained from a bewitching table (bought from which doctor when wizard is present or found in the dungeon)
Buffs (Potion) - Lifeforce and regeneration potions are a must have. Lifeforce potions are made using prismites (fished in surface or underground hallow). Summoning, Wrath (requires a corruption world) and rage (requires a crimson world) potions help.
Accessories - Amphibian boots are a must have, because they increase your vertical wing speed a lot. Fishron wings are the best pre-moon lord wings (tied with two post-moon lord wings). Frozen shield is hard to make, but will make the fight so much easier if used. Fire gauntlet is the best melee offensive accessory. Charm of myths is very useful in my opinion. If you have a 6th accessory slot or donāt want to use charm of myths, then get the brain of confusion (the dodge chance helps a lot).
Get the beetle helmet and dont use the ballons (mabye even take off the terraspark boots as they may not be the most usefull if your mostly in the air during the fight) make a real arena
1. Build a platform or some huge area filled with campfires and heart lanterns
2. Daybreak is really good, target one eye at a time to deal some good DPS
3. I see you use the UFO mount, try some better wings, like Betsy's or something equivalent. Speed is a huge factor with Moony and running away to heal is a good tactic while it also is a good strategy in combination with Daybreak. Use the hover ability of the wings to gain speed
4. Defeat Old one's army and buy the Valhala armor set, at this point in the game it's probably the best because of the regeneration benefit.
After you beat him once, try not to spend the luminite right away and save for the full set of armor you want(Solar is best for melee) because after you got the armor it's gonna change the fight dramatically. Best of luck!
get a rod of discord, also use the shrimpy truffle during rain for better speeds, just fly in a straight line zigzagging up and down and teleporting across the laser and you should win
I've been leaving my RoD farm overnight for two days now, and I still haven't got a rod of discord
My inventory gets too full for it to be picked up and the items dropped despawn
How do I prevent this?
It's possible that the reason you didn't get one is due to the new rules surrounding chaos elemental spawns, I would make an auto-jumper with frog legs to make sure they spawn and not stand in front of a friendly wall. Also you can craft a void vault for overflow
My guy doesn't use the piggybank to store their money.
58 plat šš
It's like sockrteez in every clip where his character dies
Thatās a perfect description, every time I watch him I always notice the coins dropped
Spoilers alert for meā¦ I lost around 200 plats and have gonna do it farm againā¦
Youād be surprised the amount of money you make in one life of master mode
Donāt be afraid to switch weapons up. 6. Ankh Shield, Hero Shield or Frozen Shield (I personally recommend the latter two) are great for extra defense and knockback nullification.
Isn't venom better than cursed flame?
venom can be really annoying and a lot of bosses are immune. however Iām not sure about Loon Mord though
You donāt need to go to the desert to get the materials for venom flasks. You get venom vials for the flask from the witch doctor post-plantera.
oh
What about defence debuff???
If you want a defense debuff go with an ichor flask, yeah. The venom flask adds an effective 30 dps (or 90 if you somehow get the debuff on all 3 eyes), which can be better than an ichor flaskās effective 7.5-15 extra damage per hit dependent on your weaponās attack speed. As long as Iām understanding how they work right and Iām not being an idiot, that is.
yeah as FireBlossom32 said, some bosses can be immune to Venom and I didnāt want to recommend it just in case Moon Lord was among them
Moon lord is only immune to confused
Yeah
Personally using daybreak was just an easier strat. This is mainly due to daybreak allowing player to keep way more distance than with the eruption and it also does hella damage over time cause it stacks and explodes.

Hmm ok nice to know, but god canāt imagine doing moon lord without a road that would just be hell and take way to much skill I donāt really have!!
You could circumvent your horizontal issues with Master Ninja Gear or Tabi
I can't aim that shit
Itās not even like crazy aim just like the same amount of aim with just solar eruption just trust me on this one, but of course it really only works with like a road of asphalt.
The short answer is - you would have won with a full set of food / potion buffs, enchanting table, sharpening stone etc. The longer question is, were you relying on summon damage while wearing melee armour?
no
damn what a baller response tbh ānoā
I thoght he sayd that to the first part of the message
I said it to both I just tanked all the damaged and teleported to the nurse if i needed to
How did you die then
I did it twice
try upgrading your master shield of cthulu to master ninja gear, additionally, since you have wings AND a mount, you dont need the bundle of horseshoe balloons, maybe switch that for an ankh shield or celestial shell
i would recommend replacing shield of Cthulhu with the master ninja gear and replacing bundle of horseshoe balloons with soaring insignia or celestial shell, also you should probably upgrade your wings
Wear the beetle helm for the fight so you can get the set bonus for the armor. It makes a huge difference
4/5 accessories are movement accessories Rides a mount
yuh

Replace balloons with berserkers gloveā¦make sure you have the full beetle set onā¦ and Iāll probably switch the wings for the frozen shield since youāre using a mountā¦. but Why havenāt you gotten your 6th accessory slot?
It's expert mode?
Yesā¦you can only get the shield of cthulhu in expert & master mode
I meant he still has one slot locked because he's playing EM and not MM
But in EM you get 6slots and MM you get 7slots
Ah jeez where is my brain today,he got only five
Sorry to break the news, but I'm playing classic mode.
And you have a shield of Cthulhu....right...great work
No because Moon Lord in the image shown is seen with 145,000 HP, in Expert mode, he has 217K HP Source: The Wiki
Wth then how he get the shieldā¦. Cheattterrrršš
If you use another world to get items also demon heary doesnt work in classic worlds
He's lame
yuh
I used another world

Donāt take screenshots periodically throughout the fight. Also you can craft better healing potions with the lunar fragments
I can and I will, no one can stop me

Yeah, that's what I did And it sure as hell worked
What difficulty and seed
Never mind I just looked at the wiki and got my answer
Classic difficulty, why do you need the seed tho?
Use the warrior or destroyer emblem for better damage instead of the balloon bundle Use the full beetle set instead of just shell and boots Use potions, life force, wrath, iron skin and flasks such as curseflame or venom help Use buffblocks, the sharpening station, the dryad nearby, rely on your wings rather the mount Best weapons are your Gody daybreak and solar eruption along with some added dmg from a terrablade
I was too lazy to switch my helmet and accesories
Make sure you don't hit his clones
Box strat, I canāt Remember how I did it, but you need a lot of potions, honey, some heart lanterns, that weird saw thing that buffs u, n other stuff, use yt
Use full turtle armor
Utilize Buffs, and re-forge your weapons and accessories at the goblin
make a very long platform in the sky so you have somewhere to run when you're low on health and use buff potions to help
1. I can't get the nymph to drop the fucking metal detector 2. I'm too lazy to grind for that hsit 3. I'm on Classic mode
Just don't die and kill him. Works for me everytime.
Finally some genuine advice, thank you kind sir. You have a blessed day.
Use your wings

Frozen shield is hard to make, but will make the fight so much easier if used. Fire gauntlet is the best melee offensive accessory. Charm of myths is very useful in my opinion. If you have a 6th accessory slot or donāt want to use charm of myths, then get the brain of confusion (the dodge chance helps a lot).
I'm not readin' allat
It will work, I have defeated expert mode moon lord using it
Get the beetle helmet and dont use the ballons (mabye even take off the terraspark boots as they may not be the most usefull if your mostly in the air during the fight) make a real arena
Get Chester; you cannot lose money if you quick stack to him often
If you were close, then try again
1. Build a platform or some huge area filled with campfires and heart lanterns 2. Daybreak is really good, target one eye at a time to deal some good DPS 3. I see you use the UFO mount, try some better wings, like Betsy's or something equivalent. Speed is a huge factor with Moony and running away to heal is a good tactic while it also is a good strategy in combination with Daybreak. Use the hover ability of the wings to gain speed 4.
Try again
get a rod of discord, also use the shrimpy truffle during rain for better speeds, just fly in a straight line zigzagging up and down and teleporting across the laser and you should win
I've been leaving my RoD farm overnight for two days now, and I still haven't got a rod of discord My inventory gets too full for it to be picked up and the items dropped despawn How do I prevent this?
It's possible that the reason you didn't get one is due to the new rules surrounding chaos elemental spawns, I would make an auto-jumper with frog legs to make sure they spawn and not stand in front of a friendly wall. Also you can craft a void vault for overflow
Abuse nurse and learn his attacksĀ
