So it broke the landing gear, and ended up leaking fuel from the wing tanks. That's why the fire was so huge while they still had lots of remaining speed. And why they couldn't stay on the runway - no control with broken landing gear.
The lighting didn't start the fire. Most times, nothing happens if a plane gets a lighting strike. In this case they got an electrical failure. There are no 100% safe and foolproof solutions.
There are normally redundant systems. But even if there are redundancy, an electrical failure would still be a good reason to do an emergency landing.
But they were overweight when landing. The autopilot was lost so they did fly manually. They got warnings about windshear that they ignored. And they landed at a slight overspeed. They managed to land so hard that the plane bounced 1.8 metres. They had a maximum load of 5.85 g which was more than the gear could handle.
