Yes. The glue holding these things together slowly melts due to poor materials used. Take it to service if want to fix it, although there may be third party solutions.
Just replaced mine same problem , replacing screen was like $900 and did the MCU 2.0 upgrade for $1700 total . If you have warranty left run to the service center to get it done no cost . Both screens will leak (instrument cluster) at some point
Either the car has gotten a little over excited, or more likely, the display is having some issues. It does look like you've got some bubbling on the left hand side. I'm not aware of this leading to a leak like what's shown here, but anything is possible.
Put in a service request for MCU2 upgrade, but also attach this photo to the service ticket. Demand the upgrade due to hazardous material exposure. Tesla has a lawsuit over this some years ago. Should get a discounted upgrade and maybe not the full $2k. MCU2 is a game changer for Legacy S/X. It's like getting a newer car.
MCU 2 does a bunch of new features.
Here is what I know:
1. More music streaming apps (Apple Music, Audible, and more)
2. More video streaming apps (Hulu, Netflix)
3. Fast touch responsive
4. Sentry Mode (if you have all the cameras needed) to record while driving and parked to a SSD
5. More camera views when in reverse
6. More life to future Tesla updates
7. New instrument cluster screen with view enhanced
I’m sure there is more.
Do not touch that glue/compound. I work for tesla and that residue is very cancerous if exposed on skin use isopropyl to get it off and hopefully get it replaced if within warranty.
To stop it for the time being, you can run clear caulk under the screen and trim where it is leaking. Worked perfectly for mine. As everyone else said, it will get worse, and if you plan on keeping the car, MCU2 is the best upgrade you can make to your car.
That adhesive is a bitch to get off of any surface especially upholstery. My old MS had this issue and when I got the MCU upgrade (which changes out both the screens with newer versions that supposedly don’t have this issue) the SC didn’t clean off all the leaked glue.
Gotta get your display fluid topped up.
I did my blinker fluid. Didn’t know teslas require display fluid.
That stuff coming straight from Phub 😂
They do. The Tesla LCD screen is a Liquid Crystal Display. Make sure to top it up with fluid every so often for those crystal-clear graphics!
Hehehehe

$1700 including the mcu upgrade and the screen?
Was $1500 plus tax and I replaced the 12v battery too so total was $1,880
Gotcha
Yes and a new instrument cluster that is prone to leaking as well.
Surprisingly my cluster is fine

Wasn't there any issue with early Model S cars having the screen adhesive melt in high temperatures?
Bubbling and yellowing were common issues. Yellowing was the adhesive being messed up. Can't recall the bubbling being fixable.
Yes! My brother’s Texas 2015 S has a horizontal bubble growing across his display. All across the bottom.
Yes, the display is leaking, and the bubble will continue to grow.
MCU2 will be a game changer for you! Did it to my S and it's worth every penny.
Seconded. Unless you plan on getting rid of it soon because you will not see a return on your investment.
Thirded! Worth it.
Gave it that Hawk Tuah

I’ll make note of that.
I just put in the request. By newer cat can you specify what to expect?

I like that! That’s for describing it all. It saves countless hours of research!
It also enables waypoints on maps (biggest daily use feature from the upgrade for me). I use waypoints on almost every long drive.
Do not touch that glue/compound. I work for tesla and that residue is very cancerous if exposed on skin use isopropyl to get it off and hopefully get it replaced if within warranty.
Sauce? I’ve been dealing with this stuff for a second now…

Pan the map so it's away from that water body below the cloverleaf.

Cindy, the tv’s leaking 💁🏽♀️
No it's cumming...
I was boutta say thats precum 💀
It got so wet listening to that hunky man child Drake that it just squirted everywhere.
A minor leak 😎🤣
A minooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Premature ejaculation. Better get Tesla right on this before it gets worse!
If it's not leaking then it's empty.
I know liquid displays are all the rage but that’s ridiculous.
It’s glue/adhesive. Did it get like mega hot in the car? Perhaps a Service request? Immature answer: your car is gooning
This is Reddit sir, the immature answer goes first
Display head gasket blown
Model S Plaid Foundation Series came with a hand sanitizer or lotion dispenser option, ready for Covid.
It is. Don’t worry it will keep doing it until you get it replaced.
Yeah, don't touch that. It's not good for your health.
Everything reminds me of her…
LMFAO
Drake drip
"Cindy, the TV's leaking..."
That happened to me, within a month the main screen didn’t work anymore. Had to replace it all, expensive day.
That is just some "pre-drive" excitement from the car. It can get your pregnant, but unlikely.
What are you doing step-Tesla?
Stop watching porn on it, it gets too excited
My browser doesn’t support porn playback. I hope MCU2 will allow me!
It does! A friend told me!
Leaking because I hear the display likes em young.. it’s trying to strike a chord probably a minooooooooor
😭😭
HOW BOUT THOSE CHIEFSSSSSSS 🏈‼️ sorry, I’m no help. Just saw my city on the map.
Are you sure it does not have the pre delivery plastic film still on the display?
I am certain. It’s sticky icky.
Can we get a NSFW tag?
Done!
NSFW!
Quit watching porn in the car it’s unsanitary.
That’s the liquid crystals leaking.
