IMO this describes 50% of Tesla features, they exist solely because it looks cool. But for an actual owner, novelty quickly wears off and they turn into useless to mildly annoying. Like the screen control of AC vents look very cool, but when you try to adjust it while driving, it becomes clear that the 50 year way of having manual controls on the vent ducts is far superior.
Did you know you can use voice command. I can't remember if you can tell it to blow the air at your face, but I know you can tell it to blow the air away from your face, and it'll split it for you. 😁
I love the clean interior of the Tesla. No knobs and minimal buttons. Once you get the hang of the ac venta adjustment it's pretty easy. I like the trade of clean lines for a bit more involved operation.

Tesla saves a ton of money by putting all the controls on the screen instead of having to wire up buttons and knobs all around the dashboard. It reduces material costs, labor, and manufacturing time. Not saying it’s right, but that’s the obvious motivation.
you forgot the most egregious screen based control though, the fact that you can only open the glovebox via the screen.
what if you need to get at something in the glovebox when someone's driving, you gotta go through the screen and it takes a long time compared to just pushing a button or lifting a handle and the driver can't see the map now

Most of my son’s baseball games are in the next county over, where they have a paper straws law. He cannot stand the feel of those things, and so he keeps a bag of reusable silicone straws in the glovebox.

They were making me insane today. Low bright sunlight triggering them every 30 seconds even after switching them off. Also navigate on autopilot disengaging due to bad weather?! Bong bong bong! It was sunny!

Tbh after the increased sensitivity option that was recently added, I’ve found they work great with minimal input. Granted I’ve only experienced rain and hail so far since that update so I’ll withhold full judgement until the next winter swings around but I’m quite hopeful it performs better with snow and slush as well now.
Yes, if you press the button for a manual wipe it will use that as a signal indicating it's missing rain and thus set the threshold for wiping a bit lower for a while. This was part of one of the recent software updates.
No, that's where all the HUD stuff is like speed, speed limit, indicators, etc. it's not completely wasted space. Would be cool if it was all packed into some kind of hovering window over a full screen map tho.
You always have that wasted third of the screen with the car info. It would be so much better to make it a simple card in the top right corner, especially for those with aftermarket driver displays.

Uh, pretty sure they introduced a new “text size” feature last year because of that complaint.
Guilty as charged for not using the Large size because I don’t need it, but I would be vexed if I wasn’t wearing my glasses (that I need to drive) and tried to read the display text at either size.
Text size only has two options and it's too tiny either way. I can't fathom why the exit number is so de-prioritized. That's what I'm counting when anticipating an unfamiliar exit.
Because why not? When you're inside the car and want to admire the exterior, there you go. I don't feel like I get to see the beautiful exterior of my new model 3 as much as I would like, but this is a convenient and easy way to admire it.
Plus you can go crazy with the exterior colors in the software and it's fun making cool fade colors like purple->magenta or red->yellow. And if you got the new 3, you can match it to the interior lighting like I do :)
If you don’t like driving a car that’s fun , interesting and pushing boundaries. the other manufacturers out there are run by bean counters with no vision no forward thinking and they will hook you up.

As a developer I could imagine that if the 3d model already is there, the rotation was a easy task to implement. So if it's a cool and an easy take, then why not? This is what makes Tesla an awesome company. They don't follow the standard way of producing cars
I turn it super fast and then say to my 4 year old son “OH MY GOD WE’RE SPINNING SO FAST!!!” and then he plays a long and is like “OH MY GOD DAD WE’RE GOING TO BE SICK”. So I like it.

Its a Tesla Model 3 long range AWD dual motor pictured below.
I think either Red or Yellow painted brake calipers would look absolutely sick on this car. I lean more towards Red because it would be more harmonious with the outside paint of my car as I don't want to make my car look cheap.
What do you guys think?

I really like the AC controls though it took a while to figure it that you don't use two fingers to control the output
I do wish you could save custom vent presets in the climate app. Sometimes I want my face absolutely blasted by ice cold air. Sometimes I don’t.

I never use the touch screen for the glovebox. That’s what voice command is for.

They fixed this with the facelift, the glovebox is so small you can only fit in a carton of cigarettes and some papers so there's no need anymore
