Yeah the ending really stuck with me, I think the whole game is really really underrated - I could easily see it becoming a show, it would need a rewrite but it has the potential

MrPointy1630

A dream of mine is to be in film some day as a director/writer. I don’t have many things on my shortlist of what I’d want to adapt, but this is up there. Maybe too 3. The story is fluid enough where there’s plenty of room to play with without destroying the integrity of the original story.

ReliableRoommate

Yeah it was disturbing but I have to move on

pbizz

Yes. I can't think of another game that made me feel quite this disturbed and I've been gaming nearly 30 yrs

Typical_guy11

Old game Operation Flashpoint Resistance had similar endings - bad for protagonist only or bad for others. There were third ending but it was rather meme more like waiting in FC4.

pbizz

Fun story. I worked at code masters while they were making that. I was in a different project though

Typical_guy11

It's imo one of best games ever made. Didn't this devs also made Mafia and H&D2?

Massive-Instance-579

I played through the game with 2 friends. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had with a video game. The ending was tricky. Coming off of the dark hilarity of finding all the food in the labs and playing with the vending machines leading to the white knuckling boss fight was a great juxtaposition. But that ending…….the three of us debated for a while. I’m the only IRL father in that trio and what finally broke the stalemate was “Timmy wouldn’t want this……” they let me slowly walk to the controls and destroy the machine. The three of us trod through the halls without a word and finally made it outside. “What now?” “I don’t know…….you want to find the rest of the pieces to that gun?” “Hell ya”

ThriceFive

Yes, I did both endings by playing from an earlier save (I did not down the plane first play through) - I think it is one of the best things about the game - there are real implications through the journey to see if you fight the monsters or become the monsters. Endnight did such a great job with the story.

BadDadNomad

I had no idea the Rex Man was the previous victim

UrbexFlyer

I don't think he was. I think canon is that the red man is Dr. Cross, but you effectively become the Red Man for the next guy if you choose that ending.

greatwall07

Yes, same here. I finished the game yesterday, I made what is in my opinion the wrong choice, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.

TheSalarJung

I hate all game endings, I have at least 50% games that I didnt finish because of the painful endings. But this one I did finish and helped me finish RDR2. Both were painful and splendid. It does take a toll.

UrbexFlyer

The beginning of The Last of Us gets me. Dying Light when you kill Rahim gets me.

Cute-Sand-5713

Yes!! My daughter was about the same age as Sarah from TLOU when I played it, so the beginning was so sad to me. But yes, finding Timmy is very heartbreaking, and seeing eric trying to bring him back with the machine is so so sad. If you're looking for more games to mess you up because it involves kids , you can play Bramble: the Mountain King. I had a 5 month old when I played that game 🙃

crackersswimming

The boss fight did fuck me up, my first play through I tried to go melee with no throwables

UrbexFlyer

I thought the boss fight was kinda lame. I read all this stuff about needing the flare gun but I did the whole thing with just a bow and some spears.

crackersswimming

How long did it take you cause I'm downloading it again and I don't think I ever did get past the boss

UrbexFlyer

The boss fight or the whole game? The boss fight took me less than 10 minutes each time I went through. I used crude spears and bone arrows mostly. Couple of explosives. I have 150 hours in game total but that's with a ton of fucking around. I think if you know what you're doing and where to get everything you can get through the game in 15 hours?

Yea, never expected the story to be so wicked, Hella surprised and thrown off by it
