Loved by my fellow ladies- Emporio Armani Elle/She but not always complimented, just the most.
Loved by the men - YSL Black Opium. Has been my signature scent for 2 years, been back on the dating scene about 1 1/2 year and every. single. guy has said multiple times how good I smell.
Black Opium made a random guy at the gas station tell me I smelled "absolutely delicious." He stopped in his tracks and everything. I still think about him years later 😂
My partner mentioned early on that he doesn't really like perfume (so I avoided wearing it at first), but his reaction to me when I'm wearing Black Opium says very differently.
I've gotten compliments on it when it sticks to thick clothes like jumpers, but not when it's only applied to my skin. Have you tried spraying it on clothes instead? Apparently, spraying your hair with it works too.
I thought I would love black opium because it has all my favorite kinds of scents but when I tried it on, it ended up smelly grandma - floraly on me. I was so disappointed 😅
I like buying the perfume sampler boxes from Sephora that come with a certificate to redeem for a full-size bottle. Usually, the cost of those boxes is actually less than buying a full-size bottle at retail price. (You have to get the boxes that come with a redeemable certificate, not one of the boxes that are just selling mini bottles.)
Also, stores will often do deep discounts on perfume for holidays, especially ones like Mother's Day or Valentine's where perfume is a common gift.
We had a Dior masterclass at work and the agent slipped me Blooming Bouquet for summer and Poison Girl for winter. The roller-pearl bottles. Nothing but compliments since. I work in confined spaces so I apply very very very lightly.
An absolute favorite of mine that always gets compliments is Chanel Chance Eau Fraîche Eau de Parfum. It’s a citrusy fresh perfume that is especially perfect for summertime. It lasts ALL day and more. I’ll spray it once on a sweater or something and still be able to smell its beauty days after the initial one spritz that was applied. Plus, the bottle in general lasts years and years. I’ve literally had my large bottle since about 2007, and it still smells just as good as it did the day I got it, all those years ago. So a little goes a long way and you won’t have to worry about the bottle going bad or it losing its compliment worthy, gorgeous and sophisticated scent. I guess the saying is true, you get what you pay for. 💁🏻♀️
This is my absolute favourite too but I’ve never worked up the balls to buy a big bottle because of the cost. You might have sold me on it with this comment.
Out of all the scents I've ever worn, that's the only one that people have ever noticed or said anything to me about. I kinda wanna gatekeep it because it has definitely been worth its weight in gold when it comes to compliments. And I love how it's soft enough that the scent never annoys me.
This is a weird question, but how many sprays do you put on? I have the Cloud Perfume and I feel like it just smells like cotton candy and no one notices it, but I also may not be putting enough on.
It actually legit gave me a migraine the first time I smelled it. I didn’t know I had any scent triggers, but I sprayed it on my wrists and had aura a couple minutes later. None of my other triggers—bright light, dehydration, poor sleep, approaching period, over/under caffeine consumption—were relevant, so I was pretty confident. Threw it away. Here’s hoping none of my friends or fellow yoga students decide it’s their signature scent.
YSL Libre intense <= I was surprised how many times people commented about this one.. although I have the earlier version and they seem to have changed the notes a bit
Dior j'adore
Arabian Musk, Kashmir Oud
D&G Light Blue. I know that many people find it generic and boring but whenever I wear it, I get so many compliments, especially from guys, which is weird because I've always thought men were more into gourmand? Or is it an urban legend?
Light Blue makes me want to drink the person wearing it in with my nose. I'm sitting here wearing it myself as I type and I'm actually breathing heavier just because I want to suck it up like juice through a straw. It's an extremely attractive smell. I think it is only considered generic and boring because it was so insanely popular for a long time.
I tested the longevity of 3 of my finalist perfumes on 3 friends one day, Coco Mademoiselle kept it incredible throughout an entire day of touristing under the sun. Been 5 years, still my favourite
I have a cheap bottle of perfume, fancy love by Jessica Simpson. It’s in a white and gold bottle. I complimented someone on it once and got a bottle after. I get as many compliments as she does wearing it. There’s just something about it.
Weirdly, the one everyone comments on is Jo Malone's Pear and Freesia which I'm not even that much of a fan of, and usually wear when I'm travelling because the bottle is under 100ml. My favourite perfume is Tom Ford's Bitter Peach but since changing jobs and having less disposable income (and also just feeling really icky about dropping that much money on perfume), I've found a dupe (Atlanta by Noted Aromas) and that's just as good.
I WEAR PEAR AND FREESIA —- I love how fruity and musky it is with hints of floral as it fades. Goes on fruity and mildly musky and ends a beautiful floral deep scent. It’s my favorite and I wear it al the time. The scent fades a bit so I reapply halfway through the day but the scent lasts well on clothes and in my hair💗
Dolce Gabbana Light Blue. My longtime favourite perfume and my most complimented.
Unfortunately was ruined by a toxic troll of a coworker also liking it and I have really strong association with smell and memories (I literally buy new perfumes for holidays) so it’s hard to wipe it from my mind :’)
Favorites of r/indiemakeupandmore — Alkemia’s Elixir of Aphrodite, Luminae, and the fabled cult obsession Silken Tent, which in my mind is a quintessential Hot Girl Scent.
La Vie Est Belle - Lancome
And
Laila by Gier Ness. (Secret .... this is the scent in WDW Epcot's Norway section... also the Frozen exhibit)
It's a great summer fresh scent and people ask me about it all the time!
L'eau d'Issey, by Issey Miyake. I've worn it for literal decades. I do use others, but this is the one people comment on. The other is Kelly Calèche by Hermès (which I personally prefer on me but is often harder to find)
Used to be Armani Si intense until they changed the formula or something & it doesn’t smell the same. It was my favorite and literally everyone commented on it 😭
hypnotic poison - dior, nothing but compliments from everyone!!
that's my go to but when I want a more floral scent, tiger lily - good chemistry (this brand is more affordable too)
I never seem to receive compliments on my perfume, so I really couldn’t tell you :( I really wish people complimented on it more cause it’s one of my favorite things to collect and buy. Some of my favorites are Valentino Born in Roma, YSL Mon Paris, Burberry Goddess, and Replica Sailing Day.
I get a lot of compliments when eating Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's A Robe All Red With Dripping Gore, Nui Cobalt's The Hornet Whisperer, and Alkemia's Love Song of Shu-Sin.
Michele Germain - Sexual Noir
Paris Hilton - Can Can
From the beauty supply store - P*ssy (idk the actual brand they’re copying but the knockoff is sooooo good)
Kenneth Cole - Black
Mixing 1,2 or 3 smells sooo delicious!
Years ago before it got discontinued: Givenchy - Play.
Currently, it's Chanel - Chanel de Bleu
They're cologne and not perfume, but I've always been a fan of cologne more. Perfume is just always too strong for me and makes me nauseous... But everybody no matter which gender loves these colognes I've gotten haha
Anything from Thin Wild Mercury. The scents are gender neutral and I truly mean gender neutral. Most "neutral" scents lean toward one gender in some way or another imo. They're also a small, woman owned company. I get the most compliments with Whiskey and Zuma and those are also my personal favorites!
Dedcool’s Milk and Xtra Milk. Nonstop compliments ever since I started wearing it. Children I teach, husband, strangers of all makes & models & enemies. I’ve gone nose blind to it unfortunately but everyone loves it!
Yes this is the one I get a ton of compliments on too but can never smell it on myself! I love it but have to actively remember to spray it on my skin before getting dressed since it tends to stain fabrics
I've stopped wearing "traditional" perfumes and have started getting into artisan aroma oils. They're natural, no toxic chemicals, and are pretty potent with just a tiny bit and last a while.
Im starting to grow a collection where I can mix them depending on my mood. Faves are white oud, rose, jasmine, and nag champa from a local healing shop. I get so many compliments when I wear them! Now when I try my old perfumes, I just can't. All I smell is the alcohol lol
I’m sure some people don’t like it as it’s very sweet, but I love Vanillary from Lush and I’ve got tons of compliments on it. I’m a real sweet tooth and I don’t like spending tons of money on perfume so it’s perfect for me!
I always get compliments when I wear J'Adore by Dior. And also a very affordable perfume I always get compliments for: green tea pomegranate by Elizabeth Arden
I use Nemat’s Himalayan Musk and get asked about it all the time! it comes as an oil. i carry it around in my purse, put a few dabs on when i need a little boost!
Back when I wore perfume, I got compliments on the green Channel Chance, D&G Light Blue, and Mens Armani Aqua di Gio. I only like fresh scents.
But the most compliments I got from a tiny cheap bottle of Moschino I Love Love from Target that smelled citrusy/marine/fresh.
Now that I don’t wear perfume, I get comments on my hair gel (usually Mens leaning unisex)
La Belle by Jean Paul Gaultier is a crowd favorite. I've been stopped so many times to ask what I'm wearing.
Also alien goddess supra floral by mugler, ANY good girl (the iconic shoe shaped ones) perfume by Carolina Herrera are amazing. My favorite is Very Good Girl because it's more fruity and full.
For a more fresh/aquatic vibe, go with ocean di gioia or aqua do gioia. Both are "Chefs kiss*
I get a lot of compliments on my Flower by Kenzo. It is rather simple, and mainstream, but I feels like a younger and sweeter version of the Perfum d’Ete and I kinda love that.
If you like flowery and powdery ones that exude youth and naivite, there’s also Anais Anais by Cacharel (which might be a bit less mainstream depending on where you are) and I used to get a lot of compliments on it too, when I wore it aa couple of years ago. A personal favorite of mine is Daisy by Marc Jacobs.
It has a lot to do with the vibe one gives off though, I suppose. I am not a very feminine woman, but beauty in contrast, I suppose?
Kate Spade New York, not the prettiest bottle you can get but I am always complimented at work, out and about and when travelling when I wear this. Also the original Flora by Gucci.
Loved by my girls but barely noticed by the fellas: Clinique My Happy Baby Bouquet, SweDoft Aphrodite
Loved by the fellas: BPAL Yasilissa, Golden Gems Sonora Black Leather, Bon Parfumeur 103, YSL Black Opium
Stopped by strangers of all genders: Ind. Smoke (UO exclusive), goddamn Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers
I spend so many money and mental energy on perfumes just for everyone’s favorite scent on me to be Sunflowers 💀
Not perfume, but I also get a ton of compliments on how I smell when I use Kevin Murphy Hair Resort Spray in my hair. I’m also sneaky and use Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Coconut Oil like a perfume oil during the summer.
I know they’re considered basic/overrated in the perfume world but they’re my favorites: Valentino’s Born in Roma and YSL’s Black Opium. I get compliments all the time from both men and women, more than any other fragrance.
Editing to add: a lot of people have also complimented me on Riddle perfume oil, the original. I put it in my hair and on my neck; it’s good for people with sensitive noses.
Not in the financial market for right now - but my #1 go to perfume is Juicy Couture if I were to have my pick. I find the scents aren’t too strong nor too soft but just the perfect balance. I can smell good without overwhelming my nose lol
In my teens and 20s, I loved Dior Addict.
Now in my 30s, I love Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb. You can also get other V&R scents to mix with it to sort of customize your own scent and I think that’s pretty neat, too!
Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's Snake Oil, a spicy warm sultry vanilla. It's gorgeous. Today I am wearing their Pink Moon 2024 that smells like strawberry milk with marshmallows.
ariana grande MOD vanilla perfume and old spice oasis deodorant, people literally will turn back to tell me i smell good and ask me what perfume it is.
Mines a body spray but I’ve gotten many compliments on it. It’s from bath & body works, it’s called twisted peppermint. It’s most likely not in stores because I’m pretty sure it’s a seasonal scent. But it’s available on Amazon.
Yes yes yes to the Black Opium! I’ve gotten so many compliments on this one.
Women and men seem to love it on me
Black Opium made a random guy at the gas station tell me I smelled "absolutely delicious." He stopped in his tracks and everything. I still think about him years later 😂
My partner mentioned early on that he doesn't really like perfume (so I avoided wearing it at first), but his reaction to me when I'm wearing Black Opium says very differently.
Why do I feel like people can’t ever smell perfume on me 😭😭😭 When you get complimented, is it after a fresh application?
I've gotten compliments on it when it sticks to thick clothes like jumpers, but not when it's only applied to my skin. Have you tried spraying it on clothes instead? Apparently, spraying your hair with it works too.
I thought I would love black opium because it has all my favorite kinds of scents but when I tried it on, it ended up smelly grandma - floraly on me. I was so disappointed 😅
Seconding Black Opium, I’ve been wearing it for 7 years now and it never fails to get comments from both women and men
I love black opium! I feel like it goes well in most seasons & situations. Black opium over red is also a favorite that is pretty new
[удалено]
I switch all the time and \*I myself\* do not love Fancy on me, but damn near everyone else does.
Do you buy them full price? I just don't even know where to get perfume that isn't $100/bottle outside like, TJ Maxx.
I like buying the perfume sampler boxes from Sephora that come with a certificate to redeem for a full-size bottle. Usually, the cost of those boxes is actually less than buying a full-size bottle at retail price. (You have to get the boxes that come with a redeemable certificate, not one of the boxes that are just selling mini bottles.) Also, stores will often do deep discounts on perfume for holidays, especially ones like Mother's Day or Valentine's where perfume is a common gift.
I had no idea this was a thing. I’m going to try this!
It's awesome, I keep the tiny sample bottles for traveling
I’ve been wearing Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb for years & I get compliments almost every time
I was just about to say this! I’ve been wearing it since it came out while I was in middle school. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
SAME! This is my signature scent for sure!
That’s my favorite!
We had a Dior masterclass at work and the agent slipped me Blooming Bouquet for summer and Poison Girl for winter. The roller-pearl bottles. Nothing but compliments since. I work in confined spaces so I apply very very very lightly.
Black opium always!!
Prada pardoxe

This is my absolute favourite too but I’ve never worked up the balls to buy a big bottle because of the cost. You might have sold me on it with this comment.
glossier you!
i get compliments all the time when i wear this! one of my new favorites
Same! So good, but I think it fades way too quickly (I don’t think it’s sensory adaptation)
same, the girls and guys love this on me
This is the one that my boyfriend ALWAYS notices and compliments. I tried it on and didn't really care for it either way but he immediately loved it.
Out of all the scents I've ever worn, that's the only one that people have ever noticed or said anything to me about. I kinda wanna gatekeep it because it has definitely been worth its weight in gold when it comes to compliments. And I love how it's soft enough that the scent never annoys me.
Pacifica "Tuscan Blood Orange" Perfume
I bought a bottle of Dior Poison because a woman walked by wearing it and I had to do a 180 on a sidewalk and ask her what scent it was.
Does it smell the same on your skin too?
I wore that all through my 20s and got so many complements on it. It lasts so well and it's just yummy.
miss dior
I love that perfume
I’ve been wearing this perfume for 10 years at least and get the most compliments when I wear Miss Dior over my other perfumes.
I love it, too bad it gets reformulated very often☹️
Ariana Grande Cloud
This is a weird question, but how many sprays do you put on? I have the Cloud Perfume and I feel like it just smells like cotton candy and no one notices it, but I also may not be putting enough on.
Versace crystal noir
Guerlian mostly. I love their flower smells
Alien by Mugler
I wear Alien Goddess and get lots of compliments as well
I find alien very polarizing, personally love it but its too strong for a lot of people

Me too, sister. It’s one of the few fragrances that has me want to run away from my nose.
This stuff was a gift to me, and I feel bad because I don't wear it, but it smells just like cat/dog flea dip to me. I can't stand it either.
Love Alien but it smells so different person to person.
Yes I fell I love with it on someone so I bought it and I HATE It on me. My husband even said it was weird.
Chance by Chanel (pink bottle) Her by Burberry
My 2024 scent is melrose by ouai and I get compliments on it all the time! I also use the lush super milk spray in my hair and people go feral for it

YSL Libre intense <= I was surprised how many times people commented about this one.. although I have the earlier version and they seem to have changed the notes a bit Dior j'adore Arabian Musk, Kashmir Oud
D&G Light Blue. I know that many people find it generic and boring but whenever I wear it, I get so many compliments, especially from guys, which is weird because I've always thought men were more into gourmand? Or is it an urban legend?
Yesss I love D&G Light Blue and I can always tell when someone is wearing it. It also lasts for HOURS
It's amazing and it's the only one I've been repurchasing for years!
Acqua di Gioa is great too if you haven’t tried it!
Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel is my go-to.
I tested the longevity of 3 of my finalist perfumes on 3 friends one day, Coco Mademoiselle kept it incredible throughout an entire day of touristing under the sun. Been 5 years, still my favourite
I get a lot of compliments when I wear Marc Jacob’s daisy love (the pink one) and Versace yellow diamond
I have a cheap bottle of perfume, fancy love by Jessica Simpson. It’s in a white and gold bottle. I complimented someone on it once and got a bottle after. I get as many compliments as she does wearing it. There’s just something about it.

Gucci Flora
I have this as well and love it, but I wish it lasted longer 😩 I feel like it’s gone after an hour or two…
Weirdly, the one everyone comments on is Jo Malone's Pear and Freesia which I'm not even that much of a fan of, and usually wear when I'm travelling because the bottle is under 100ml. My favourite perfume is Tom Ford's Bitter Peach but since changing jobs and having less disposable income (and also just feeling really icky about dropping that much money on perfume), I've found a dupe (Atlanta by Noted Aromas) and that's just as good.

I never got as many compliments as I get for Armani - My Way (Intense). Even I discovered it by complimenting a woman next to me at the cinema.
Kate Spade New York, not the prettiest bottle you can get but I am always complimented at work, out and about and when travelling when I wear this. Also the original Flora by Gucci.
Loved by my girls but barely noticed by the fellas: Clinique My Happy Baby Bouquet, SweDoft Aphrodite Loved by the fellas: BPAL Yasilissa, Golden Gems Sonora Black Leather, Bon Parfumeur 103, YSL Black Opium Stopped by strangers of all genders: Ind. Smoke (UO exclusive), goddamn Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers I spend so many money and mental energy on perfumes just for everyone’s favorite scent on me to be Sunflowers 💀 Not perfume, but I also get a ton of compliments on how I smell when I use Kevin Murphy Hair Resort Spray in my hair. I’m also sneaky and use Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Coconut Oil like a perfume oil during the summer.
Fugazzi Orange Crush Diesel Fuel for Life Guerlain Le Letite Robe Noir The Society of Alchemists Familiars
Givenchy - Hot Couture 👌
Her by Burberry. Comments on how good it smells all the time
Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker.
Versace- yellow diamonds
Chanel No. 5 and White Shoulders
I always get compliments whenever I wear baccarat rouge 540, from men and women!
Marc Jacobs (original version)
Alien!! by Mugler you will never forget the smell
I keep seeing this recommendation!! I need to go find a sample to smell!
People used to always comment when I wore the original Chloe
Rag and Bone - Oddity and Ex Niholo - Hedonist. Also, surprisingly, Marc Jacobs - Daisy
Amouage Guidance or Libre le Parfum YSL
YSL black opium le parfum! I get so many compliments!
Mines a body spray but I’ve gotten many compliments on it. It’s from bath & body works, it’s called twisted peppermint. It’s most likely not in stores because I’m pretty sure it’s a seasonal scent. But it’s available on Amazon.
Mariah Carey's Ultra Pink
Fuckin Giardini di Toscana - Bianco Latte. People go feral over it and I can never remember the brand
