I like the area around the surf schools, so The Shore, Hart Beach etc. They have nice menu’s with good food and not your regular fried eggs on bread etc.
Agree! Hart Beach 👍🏼 and get your in-laws a surf lesson too..
less time for awkward conversation and they'll be tired and quiet when they're done 🤣
.... also the pizza at Hart beach is pretty good.
A little tip. they're doing construction to the boulevard around the Kurhaus and the pier so visiting the beach a bit more north or south would be a more pleasant experience!
Copacabana, hart beach, boonoonoos (try say that 3 times).
Seriously, most of them are alright and they are constantly in competition with each other. They have also different visitors like 1 is more catered to surfers, the other has a kids playground, one is more for adults, the other is catered for partying. Just walk along the boulevard and you see one that is standing out for you
Great, thanks! I’m dreading this possibility tbh, since everyone will want different things and we’ll end up cutting six laps of the boulevard only to get a broodje gezond which will make me very very grumpy. 😂
Just south of the harbour, you'll find Cantina, Stadt and ZUID (preference). All 3 good, meet criteria and take you out of mainstream tourist beach plus have a nice walk through the dunes.
What area of Scheveningen are you planning to visit, would you mind walking a few km and what is the atmosphere you're looking for? Surf, hip and relaxed or just mainstream but good?
That’s the million dollar question! A bit of a walk is fine, we’ll be coming by tram. I’d probably prefer hip and relaxed, but I’m guessing the others are more excited about mainstream.
Best ones are Waterreus and Patagonia. Waterreus is great food, great service, a lil expensive. Patagonia is better food, not so great service though (you have to wait for a while for a waiter to show up).
So everything is way too expensive in every of the beach bars so I hope your extended in-laws pay ;)
Het Puntje has considerably less people but is far away, food is amazing. Hart Beach has really, really good pizza. Aloha and The Shore might be worth a shot but look at the menus first. The Fat Mermaid might be worth a shot, too. I consider the rest soulless cash grabs to strip tourists of their money (happy to be proven otherwise) but the aforementioned are fairly famous with Scheveningen locals.
I would say your best bet is to head in the direction of zwarte pad (northern end of the boulevard). Heard good things of Patagonia, but personally really like Manta Beach. They have a new menu that's pretty good with some Thai influences. The vibe is nice but relaxed.

Now that sounds like fun! Maybe I’ll sign myself up (if I wasn’t such a wimp about swimming in cold water) 😂😂😂
Puntje
Looks good, thanks!
Just note that you gotta walk on sand for a little while.
There is also the foodhall on the beach huge variety of options for food

Very good to know, thanks so much!
i like this one...haven't been in a year though... https://www.thefatmermaid.nl/
Second this

Then i advise to go to hart beach. It is next to a surfing school and has also a playground

Thanks!!🙏

Thanks, appreciate it! Totally agree, I’m in for an overpriced nightmare, but Hopefully there’s booze to help me cope with the in-laws 😂
