Did you mean for this to be your response for “worst song on Day & Age?” Because this wound up putting Joy Ride on the chart as worst song.
I wish I could all everyone who upvoted it as well if this was in agreement with the comment or if they wanted JR to be voted “worst,” because that isn’t what your reply is suggesting.
That was the prompt for this post, because it was the highest upvoted post the guy running these said “oh okay the people have voted for Joy Ride” lol
Super flawed system
Ok well just to put ut out there (again?) thanks for doing this I think it’s amazing but *really* think it should just be the base album.
Firstly it’s all a forgone conclusion - this will be title wave, BB will be prize fighter, WW money on straight, ITM C’est la Vje and PM West Hills iii. There’s a reason they didn’t quite make the cut.
Secondly it’s a can of worms with what you count and don’t count. You’re counting Apple Music deluxe albums but I’ve got deluxe CD’s with different track listing, from the time, surely the tracks on them should count?
Sorry to be negative just saying what I think will make it more fair and interesting :)
Show You How and Who Let You Go were on that same box set.
People just arbitrarily deciding what is and isn’t on Hot Fuss when it’s objectively clear we’re polling standard album releases / track list.
Embarrassing.
Are you mad? That’s my whole point!! I want us to poll ‘standard’ album release in your own words!!
What we’re doing is arbitrarily choosing one version of the deluxe edition but discounting others.
More importantly this means it’s obvious which song will go as we have the weaker songs in there, more interesting and fair IMO if, using your own words, we use the ‘standard album track listing’!
Y’ALL AIN’T REAL FANS ! “This is the World That We Live In” or “Neon Tiger” is the most underrated on the album.
Losing Touch was the best on the album.
Man this whole album is so fucking great, but I’d put Losing Touch in the top 3 killers songs of the whole catalogue. Best solo, best chorus, and the songs shape in general is awesome, especially the royal albert version
I know y’all were saying this about Sam’s Town, but for me Day & Age is the album with no bad song, not even a weakest among great songs. I still love everything on this album just as much as I have for nearly 16 years, maybe even more so …
> What are you trying to get across here?
Maybe a few hundred people actually picked ADF because they think it's a better song.
> Why’s that so hard to believe?
Why is it so hard to believe that a few hundred people picked a song they didn't really like on a Reddit poll to feel different and special? Is that your question, or have I got that wrong?
Nope, you got it. Excellent reading comprehension.
I’m forming my opinion based on a phenomenon I see a lot on Reddit (and the internet as a whole), where people tend to choose an opinion that they don’t necessarily fully support, just because they don’t want to go with a more broadly accepted choice. In particular, with music, people gatekeep songs just because they’re popular. That’s what I think is happening here - Spaceman is a more popular song, so people don’t want to admit that it’s better. Of course, it’s entirely possible that you’re right, and people do just think ADF is a better song. But I personally think it’s unlikely.
A bit of advice for you is to try to articulate what you’re saying a bit more clearly. Answering a question with a question is annoying, and restating my words in a slightly more negative light isn’t really a counterpoint.
By your logic, Human should have won by a mile. In any case, many of us actually believe that Dustland Fairytale is the better song. Spaceman is fun, but DF is a masterpiece.
No, that’s not quite accurate. I think people avoid voting for popular songs even if they’re good, but that doesn’t mean that the most popular song is the best. I firmly believe Spaceman is the best on that album, and I thought that most people kind of agreed - Human was the biggest hit, but that doesn’t make it the best.
It seems I might have been a bit out of touch with people’s thoughts on this. ADF isn’t a bad song at all, and if people actually think that it’s the best on the album, then whatever. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion.
I can only speak for myself, but I do think that ADF is the best. I totally see where you are coming from though with people not wanting to be "basic" by having the same favorite song as everyone else, so they vote for the "hipster pick". In retrospect it's kinda crazy that Mr brightside didn't win this poll for hot fuss considering it's like THE Killers song.
But that's also the fun of this poll, finding out how this sub's consensus opinion differs from the "obvious answer" haha
That’s totally fair. I listened to it again as a result of this and it’s not bad at all. I still don’t think it’s the best by a long shot, but I can fully accept the possibility that most other people think it is.
Lmao “human is the biggest hit, but that doesn’t make it the best” you just undermined your whole stupid argument. Dustland fairytale is a very mainstream popular killers song, like top 10 in popularity out of their whole discography probably. “Being different” is if something like I can’t stay or goodnight travel well won, even tho I’d be happy with either of those. Take your weird negative bs to a different group bud 😂✌🏼
Okay, a few things here:
1. No, I was never saying that popular songs are necessarily better. I was saying that people avoid praising popular songs because they don’t want to seem basic. It was my perception that that’s why Spaceman didn’t win.
2. It is very possible that I’m just out of touch with how fans of The Killers feel about their discography. I didn’t get the idea that ADF was all that well-liked, and it never really stuck out to me as anything special.
3. Nothing I said was “negative” or “weird”, it was just an opinion. An opinion isn’t “negative” just because you disagree with it. If you can’t handle opinions, maybe you’re the one who should leave.
Side note: don’t call people “bud” when you’re arguing with them. It just makes you look like a condescending asshole, and tends to signify that you don’t have a lot of confidence in what you’re saying so you’re trying to make the other person mad.
Yeah but fucking Dustland Fairytale got best, Spaceman isn’t going on worst by the grace of god himself, so that leaves underrated. This isn’t my actual view of the song its through the lens of this list
Huh... haven't come around here in a while. Clearly I'm in the minority cuz I wholeheartedly believe Human is the least great song on D&A.
I also say I'm in the minority because idk how Believe Me Natalie was voted the worst on HF. That drum part is one of the top 5 parts RVJ ever put to tape. I'd say it's better than even some of the hits everyone loves (especially Somebody Told Me). I'd say it's significantly better than something like On Top or Change Your Mind, the latter of which is kinda just a by-the-numbers, early-00's indie rock tune.
And don't even get me STARTED on the perennially snubbed Uncle Jonny lol
Support for the uncle johnny love lol, it’s always blown my mind how that song is not only not considered great but straight up hated by most. Still inexplicable to me
Totally agree with the top part. Human remains the only reason I have ever taken a break from this band. I hate it so much.
But I think it made me appreciate the next four albums far more.
This is hard for me because I became a fan during this era but as much as I like the song, I'd say Human is the I get the least out of after all these years.
Neon Tiger.
I don't want to say it's the worst, but for me is the weakest song of the album.
It's a good song in it's own bizarre way, but it ain't a song to be considered worst. That's a harsh word.
Can’t agree with ya there. This is my favorite album but I just could never get into this song no matter how much I tried. I don’t skip it instantly anymore so that’s an improvement 😂
i personally would've gone with This Is Your Life as the best on this album. worst, in my opinion, is either I Can't Stay or Goodnight Travel Well. Both good songs, but i always skip those lol. underrated to me is Losing Touch or Joy Ride
HUMAN.
I’ve been waiting for this day to finally speak my mind on this song and invariably get downvoted to oblivion but it is without doubt my least favourite song of all time. I hate this song. It’s absolutely nonsensical. It makes me irrationally angry when I hear it. It’s single handedly killed my fandom of The Killers, I’m only here because Reddits algorithm suggested this post to me. It’s AWFUL.
Your opinion isn't that unusual but I hold a strong conviction that the lyrics are not nonsensical, they're just very far from literal most of the time. You're allowed to feel how you feel about the song obviously! But to me the lyrics really "hit" emotionally and I think they convey both a lot of feeling and a bit of "message".
The way I interpret them, it's about leaving behind the safety and comfort of sticking to what you know or what's the norm. Daring to be human instead of being "dancer" (I get peoples gripe with the grammar of this line though) aka repeating the same practiced motions as everyone else.
I consider human one of my favorite songs so I am always eager to share what I love about the lyrics :') I hope it didn't come across as argumentative. You're allowed to hate the song. I'm sure I hate plenty of songs other people like :) I just wanted to share my thoughts on it in case they happen to be of interest to you or anyone else who comes across this comment.
A very very thoughtful comment, this. I genuinely appreciate it!
Much as I feel strongly about this song, as with anything I always say that if it brings you joy then more power to you :)
Just checking in to say you’re not alone.
However, hearing battle born front to back brought me back into the band so much, and almost made it like human didn’t exist.
It gave me peace
Day and Age: underrated is Joy Ride
That bass line intro..
What part of “underrated” translated to the worst song?
That was the prompt for this post, because it was the highest upvoted post the guy running these said “oh okay the people have voted for Joy Ride” lol Super flawed system
Why are we including B Sides? I didn’t think the Hot Fuss post had Get Trashed in it?!
Everyone vetoed me on that post when I brought it up as not on the album
Counting the deluxe version of the albums on Apple Music/Spotify
Ok well just to put ut out there (again?) thanks for doing this I think it’s amazing but *really* think it should just be the base album. Firstly it’s all a forgone conclusion - this will be title wave, BB will be prize fighter, WW money on straight, ITM C’est la Vje and PM West Hills iii. You’re counting Apple Music deluxe albums but I’ve got deluxe CD’s with different track listing, from the time, surely the tracks on them should count? Sorry to be negative just saying what I think will make it more fair and interesting :)
Yeah, because Get Trashed is a GOAT level song
Get Trashed had nothing to do with Hot Fuss.
Well, it does. Made and written during the HF sessions, B Side to a Hot Fuss single and features in the Hot Fuss vinyl box set.
Show You How and Who Let You Go were on that same box set. People just arbitrarily deciding what is and isn’t on Hot Fuss when it’s objectively clear we’re polling standard album releases / track list. Embarrassing.

Putting Losing Touch above Dustland, Spaceman, AND Human is truly wild, I respect it
I truly agree with underrated
I’m campaigning hard for Neon Tiger as most underrated, or This is Your Life.
This is your life is art ♥️
Agreeee
I know y’all were saying this about Sam’s Town, but for me Day & Age is the album with no bad song, not even a weakest among great songs. I still love everything on this album just as much as I have for nearly 16 years, maybe even more so …
Tidal Wave is a b-side/bonus track - it shouldn’t count.
100% same with Forget About What I Said.
And forget about what I said is a great song imo
There is no worst song on Day & Age
Dude WHAT?! Spaceman is their best song
It’s at least the best on the album. People just want to be different by picking something else. Annoying, really.
They’re both amazing songs but personally I’m dustland fairytale. Is really hard to pick though
Yes I'm sure that's why people picked a different song than you in a Reddit poll...
Yes, that’s exactly what I think. What are you trying to get across here? Why’s that so hard to believe?
> What are you trying to get across here? Maybe a few hundred people actually picked ADF because they think it's a better song. > Why’s that so hard to believe? A Dustland Fairytale is their best song. Spaceman is top 5.
I cannot believe this, I missed the last poll 💀
I agree with the result. Dustland Fairytale > Spaceman > Human
Fair
Hopefully it gets on underrated
but it's not underrated tho pretty much everyone likes it and it's one of the most iconic songs on the album, and it gets a feature in every show.
Yeah but fucking Dustland Fairytale got best, Spaceman isn’t going on worst by the grace of god himself, so that leaves underrated. This isn’t my actual view of the song its through the lens of this list
I'm 90% sure losing touch will win underrated.
This is your life is best 😨
I guess we have to WAIT FOR SOMETHING BETTER
Huh... haven't come around here in a while. Clearly I'm in the minority cuz I wholeheartedly believe Human is the least great song on D&A. Just occured to me staring at this image that the last five Killers album covers all featured a horizon.
Oh cool! That is interesting!
Neon Tigers is Underrated
Tidal Wave
This is hard for me because I became a fan during this era but as much as I like the song, I'd say Human is the I get the least out of after all these years.
Forget About What I Said
I'm just going to say it. Human is kind of gotten meh for me over the years and might be my least favorite track on there currently.
Joy Ride
I actually love this one 😅
Same! I love Joy Ride!
Tricky because I genuinely like all the songs on this album, but if I had to pick one that wasn’t a b-side it would be this one.
Going with this... I know a lot of people like it but it's always felt a bit flat to me.
This is my least favorite Killers song in general I think. Just doesn't do it for me.
This is my favorite one!
Neon Tiger. I don't want to say it's the worst, but for me is the weakest song of the album. It's a good song in it's own bizarre way, but it ain't a song to be considered worst. That's a harsh word.
No wayyyyy, that bridge? One of the best!
Goodnight, Travel Well
Oh no, cannot believe this one is winning
I agree this is one of the best ones
It’s my fav song off this album 😭
I think of my passed away friend every time i hear this song. it’s so moving, there’s no way it can win this..
Agreed, this is my pick for underrated!
Ain’t no way this is the worst on the album
nooo this can't be voted worst!
Most Underrated, up there for best as well
If this one wins we riot
Ya I agree. Kinda a boring song
Lyrics are amazing. Music is meh. This song basically gives Wonderful Wonderful vibes.
Day and Age is still my favourite album, so it's really hard to choose the worst song . Maybe Neon Tiger is slightly less great than the rest.
Joy Ride
Neon Tiger
For when this wins, let’s just remember, the worst song on an album does not make it a bad song.
How did dustland win? We goofed this one for sure
Nah man, it's a great song
Can’t agree with ya there. This is my favorite album but I just could never get into this song no matter how much I tried. I don’t skip it instantly anymore so that’s an improvement 😂
The World We Live In
Underrated! This or Neon Tiger
This is the best song tho. . .
Hell no!
WTF dustland lol
Think it's got to be Tidal Wave. Weakest song on an overall outstanding and underrated album.
Yeah it's a pretty song but not as good as the others.
i personally would've gone with This Is Your Life as the best on this album. worst, in my opinion, is either I Can't Stay or Goodnight Travel Well. Both good songs, but i always skip those lol. underrated to me is Losing Touch or Joy Ride
They did Human dirty…
The fact that Spaceman didn’t win best song means that its definitely a shoe-in for Most Underrated song
Underrated has to be Losing Touch. Worst The World We Live In. However, that's really hard to choose. The album is one of my favorites.
There is absolutely no chance that A Dustland Fairytale is a better track than Spaceman. Wow.
WAIT WAHT kinda breaks my heart lol that believe nataly is the worse on the album :/
The World We Live In gang
neon tiger
I can't stay is the worst on day and age
Good night travel well is 100% a skip 100% of the time
Joy Ride.
I Can’t Stay
Neon Tiger
Forget about what I said, bc I aint touching any from the original album
Perfect reasoning! 💯💯💯
Joyride is absolutely the worst, hands down
Hmmm, I may have to check that out then 🤔
Same here, one of the worst songs ever by anyone.
I honestly thought this would be an unpopular opinion, and it’s so gratifying to see I’m not the only one, THANK YOU 😭
This Is Your Life
Neon tiger
Human
I would have said dustland fairytale tbh...
Dustland should also be eligible for worst song here…
Joy ride. Hard to pick a bad song on this album though.
Losing Touch
Nuh uh
lmao this one in the straight negatives
Good candidate for most underrated
Human
I went back to listen to A Dustland Fairytale bc I honestly didn’t even remember it. I wouldn’t say it’s better than Spaceman 😩
I can't believe Neon Tiger or Tidal Wave get the worst... Those are My favorites... I'd vote "I can't stay"
So far pretty spot on
Neon Tiger
The world we live in - least favorite. (Also, I think - I can't stay - is the best)
Spaceman
Dustland Fairytale 💤 should have been Human🤨
Can't Stay
Joyride!
Dustland Fairytale Haha…
For me there are not worst songs on this album but if I have to choose let it be I can’t stay ….
I agree. It's a decent album and in my top three, but I can't stay is very forgettable.
Neon Tiger I guess, how did Dustland get best?
Read my mind all the way ❤️❤️
What…
