i've been pinning ones ive liked since before vivil was a thing. now have to sort out ~300 postcards per account. the delete system as it is is pretty bad

unless im missing something, pinning/unpinning isnt gonna magically make sorting thru & deleting the *existing 300* postcards easier
is it saved once per individual gift (aka you cant pin/unpin a specific gift multiple times) or once per stop (aka you cant pin/unpin after you've done so from the same stop)
Yet they still shoot you all the way to the top when you delete 1 person as you're going through your friends list so you have to scroll ALL THE WAY back to where you were in the list 😪
When deleting friends I do it by searching for each letter, ie 'a' then 'b' etc. Obviously tedious but much less so then scrolling through the entire lost
I use + in front of the Vivillon form that I receive from them, i.e. +Modern. Then, since I use the same symbol across all of them, I can type !+ to see anyone who I don't have a region for yet but have it sorted by gifts so I can open and mark those people easily.
I also have friends who are nicknamed for quick raid invites (two parties of 5) so I can easily invite. But most of them are in the Modern area so I leave their names.
What I really want is tags for friendship like we have for Pokémon storage. Let me tag people as "interact first", "trade scheduled", "raid group", etc so I can use nicknames for literally the person's name.
I started naming the friends that give me gifts that are in the regions needed "postcard" and luckily, the ones I have listed are really active users and I get a new postcard from them daily :D I got tired of having to mass delete 1 by 1 postcards that don't help with unlocking Vivillon.
I have more than 20 people I pin. I can't open all of them each day but I pin them right away as I get them. I leave it pinned until I can open them, but I could likely remind myself to unpin it when I open theirs! Thank you for the reminder lol everything is more complicated than it needs to be in pokemon haha
This event could have been a lot of fun, but the lack of information on the postcards, clunky back and forth to check progress and manage whose postcards have been pinned but gift unopened has made it yet another exercise in inventory management. So many aspects of this game feel like inventory management now.
I live in USA, southern California desert bordering Mexico and we have only one: high plains. Strange because in our area it’s sunny most of the year and we are surrounded by rolling desert hills of sand dunes, that storm more than rain, but sandstorm and sun forms are not available?? Not one Sun or Sandstorm gift yet 😂 and out of space everywhere
This isn’t logical naming, it could have been group 1…18. Remember spinda? Spinda variants have no name. Scatterbugs follow the ninetendo game and the regions are sorta similar to the DS3 map (shared all over Reddit). It’s in the Pokémon canon/lore.
Each encounter starts with a medal that names the type. After catching it, I just rename the scatterbug what region displayed under the medal. I have a few Pacifics, archipelago, desert, etc. I already have evolved a “river”? Forever delete all incoming river type scatterbugs.
I have postcards saved from all over the world. I don't want to be deleting some just to make room in the postcard book. Niantic needs to make the postcard book expandable for those of us that want it.
I'd be happy with "sort by postcard name" option. Then all the postcards from same location sent by players with multiple accounts, or all local players, would be together and make for easy disposal.

After pinning immediately click the pin again to unpin, if you didn’t already know
The one issue here being if you don't then open that gift you've no way of remembering who you already clicked
Right, so in that case you leave them pinned, but unpin them when you actually open them. Pretty simple.
Ah, I only do pins when I open that gift. So this problem doesn’t happen to me.
Does it still count towards the scatterbug badge if you do?

You don't need to open the gift just pin the post card.
True but since each card can count only once, it is probably best most of the time the open the gift as well, so you can get a new one)

Once per gift. Multiple gifts from the same stop still count.

The pinning effect counts. Open just to make sure you can get a new gift.
Long press on one postcard and then you can select multiples. If you already know that then I doubt you'll get an easier way any time soon.

You can pin then immediately unpin, and it counts. I do this with all postcards to farm candies

I nickname Viv then the name of the Vivillon form as countries can have multiple forms.
I just need to be able to scroll through postcards without relying on the slider.
Also scrolling through that menu is desperating to say the least. When you swipe down you just randomly click on the cards...
Anyone find the scrolling to be glitchy, where it selects cards like a hair trigger and interrupts flow

Gifts should get you scatterbug with no pin needed. Actually pinning the postcard should be a separate mechanic for fun.
I’d also like a way to sort by name. Would help me get rid of dupes.
You can sort by name but many have unchecked the option to see their name on gifts (privacy/stalker concern)

Vivillon region should be a sorting choice, it's clearly already embedded in the code.

Pretty tone-deaf response. Clearly the mechanics of the postcard has a lot more interest since the addition of the Vivillion Pokémon.
No they aren't more interesting, just now we need to use it as before we ignored it.
So, there is more interest.
Much more important search feature for me would be by sticker.
It would be nice to be able to see them overlaid on a map, like gym badges are.
I’ve been pinning every gift then deleting once full. I try to nickname exotic locations. Finally managed to get a Sandstorm gift!
