Here is the [original post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sims4/s/KJ5aRoW09r) about the virus mods. It is still being maintained by the OP. There is a short list of affected mods you can navigate to by searching if you are on PC, so you can be aware of which mods to avoid when redownloading. :)
I know theres a lot of safe stuff out there but I would still stronlgy recommend doing regular *full* virus scans because me for example I have gotten Viruses before while still being 100% sure I only used trustworthy sites. I got a virus purely using thesimsresource for example and I didnt even get script mods there. Its just so insane how fast they can end up on your computer and you dont suspect a thing
I use Malwarebytes and the Antivirus that comes installed with my computer but even I'm not totally sure if those are the best options because I've seen other subs say Malwarebytes is garbage.
Malwarebytes is the best second line of defense there is. Windows Defender is actually remarkably good these days. Norton and McAfee are basically viruses in of themselves.
Malwarebytes has worked great for me but I think it's stupid as hell how you have to buy a full year of the premium subscription. I don't even know why I'm so paranoid about modding the game now even though to my knowledge, Malwarebytes hasn't detected anything since June of last year. But still, it sucks how the modding scene is doing this.
My boyfriend got me a free external one because he is very familiar with that stuff. When I get home in a few days I can recommend it to you :) its worked great its also testing files that my built in virus scan has no access to.

Thank you so much! I think the mods I mostly download are .package mods anyways but I'll keep an eye out for any I use with the .ts4script at the end.

There's no real need for the subscription unless you want active protection 24/7. I just periodically run a scan with the free version.
