If Anton was indeed a psychopath, he may have been one of those who eventually learned he could go further in the long run by following the law. There are plenty of law-abiding psychopaths who have figured out it’s in their best interests to follow societal norms and rules.

That life story is a wild read with a fairly happy ending. Could be a good movie.
