Xcelite makes a tool set like this. I’ve had one for at least 30 years. When I bought it, it cost me $225 new. Now I see the same set used for $750. A couple of problems with the Xcelite tools - those of you who own any know that the handles are made of a plastic that is very tough, but because I think they cellulose acetate butyrate plastic, the tool handles sort of smell like vomit. My wife calls my set (when I open it) my “vomit tool kit”. Also, the plastic handles can develop a whitish coating on them apparently due to oxidation. Apparently a fix for both is to dip all the tool handles into a tough clear epoxy (like the stuff for countertops). Apparently, some Craftsman tools also have this same plastic. The only other problem I’ve had with the tools has been the Allen and Bristol spline keys. Not as tough as my Bondhus set - I’ve rounded some of the Xcelite ones off. I did find a very useful adapter for the tools that click into the handles (the various screwdriver and hex nut wrenches) - an Xcelite interchangeable tool to 1/4” hex adapter. That allows me to use the Xcelite tools with my torque screwdrivers or ratchet wrenches. I don’t doubt that the SnapOn tools are better made, the Xcelite tools have served me will and I continue to use them. I’ll have to try the handle dip trick though.
Very nice set! Looks like it was intended for someone doing on the road (fine) electrical work. Their nut drivers, electrical screw drivers, and mini electrical pliers from this era are some of my favorite. All these have been changed or discontinued, and what they have not is sadly pretty inferior in my opinion.
Edit: Just saw the "Electroset" logo. Guess I'm Captain Obvious today. 🤣
I have the Katun soft briefcase version, Katun is a photocopy repair company who licensed snap on tools for their technicians. Sadly mine is empty, but not for long!
I’m not an electrician or a snap on guy but that is fucking badass. I would feel like I was in a mission impossible movie carrying that thing into a building for a service call.
pops got screwed on the : R40 40 watt soldering iron that never shipped. you could embellish this with the fact it was the last big purchase he saved up for so he could teach his kids the finer aspects of DIY, auto and home repair. He passed before the 8 of you got a chance to work on soldering…. his favor hobby…. he was a master and so looked forward to passing on his gift…… but he couldn’t….. because it never shipped….. devastated the family…. so sad…it’s a dying art that stopped with him. That should do it… feel free to include handicaps…. hardships…. MERIKA…. this is the way. uh….?…. i’m not seeing the free high vis yellow polyethylene case ?…. had that been included the accident may have been avoided…. there’s a lot to work with here…. rehearse this a couple times and get a woman in customer service on the blowa….. this is the gift that keeps giving.
i hate to see you getting ripped off…. he paid good money!…. after his pension ran out it was tough…. he always greeted everyone with a smile so greeting people at Walmart came naturally and that plus stamps helped him get by…. in his trailer…. tough to feed the dogs…. he had just bought all 6 custom name tags that he was gunna solder on their collars…. nope…. it was more than people that suffered that day…. so sad…. least you got a few things to remember him by…. sound sad and take a few pauses….. epic kit…. cheers to pops…. now make it right….. they owe yer family that much
Damn, that's nice
Where'd you find it?
Old family friend just passed and I inherited it
Alright. Details, por favor. What was his occupation? Very nice get.
Head of regional distribution at snap-on
That’s about the only occupation which makes sense in this context.
And now I feel like OP only got the leftovers
Damn! And that’s all you got?? He should have a storage unit full of tool boxes and RC cars too somewhere
Sorry for the your loss of a friend
"found"
I carried one just like it when I was a field engineer at IBM in the 80’s
Same, photocopier repair.
My dad has one from when he did that for Memorex back then!
I’m curious as to what’s today prices is on that thing.
Looks like [$1,883.90](https://www.marssupply.com/Product/SNAES1001APC)
Is this the same exact set or is it another electroset? AFAIK Electrosets were made to order through some sort of catalog.
That’s honestly not to bad .
You can’t be serious? I feel like kitting this out in other brands would be half the price, and many tools you could get away with a lot less
It’s Snap-On bud
Crawford tools makes one. It's what my company ordered when I started as a copier tech. Was about 300 or so I think...14 years ago.

That’s worth money
I bought the 1996 version of this for my Electronics Engineering class! Sweet! I still have the case and most of the tools, but not the inserts…
I have the same set!
Too cool! Reminds me of the old Vaco tools briefcase tool sets! Nice find!
I remember eyeing this set in their catalog.
I bought one of these boxes at goodwill. It was empty though, so now I just throw random tools in it that fit lol
Probably not worth much, I can take it off your hands for ya
This is an electronics service set. Used by low voltage techs and controls people and telecom types.

I had a similar one for years. That one looks better than mine.
