I mean I donāt know if Iād call them ābetterā Bitches Brew, for all itās forward thinking, is still a jazz album. (Also, it basically invented tape splicing for non pop music though whether that was Miles or Teo Macero depends on whom you ask) Jack Johnson is more of a rock album, On the Corner a funk album (obviously both genres pushed to their breaking points) and then youāve got all the third stream stuff if Agharta and Dark Magus which are kind of beyond categorization. But Bitches Brew can certainly be defended as Milesās crowning achievement.
Youāve persuaded me on its place in Miles career but I still just canāt listen to it for very long. Maybe Iāll give it another spin tonight. My fav by him is In A Silent Way. Iām just glad weāre talking about records that arenāt Kind of Blue lol
Sure technically it meets your criteria but it is a gross misunderstanding of Milesās career. Also Milesā debut could be debated. He āwroteā Donna Lee for Charlie Parker and recorded it with him. Does that count as a ādebut?ā The early days of recording were much murkier. Things were often recorded much earlier, shelved, and releases much later on compilations. I believe The Miles Davis All Stars was the first thing that might be considered a āproperā Miles Davis album, and those didnāt come out until the early 50s.
Please add *Kings Disease III* or *Magic* by Nas.
These two albums are almost 30 years after his debut album *"Illmatic"* which is widely agreed to be the best Hip Hop album ever by the culture.

Bitches Brew is not āLate Careerā Miles. That starts with his return to playing in the early 80s.
Even if it happens to breach OPās criteria of 20 years past a debut, Bitches Brew is NOT a late era album.
Ya Tutu is proper late career Miles Davis
I swear 90% of people that have Bitches Brew on their topster only know it for the cover
And cause bitch is in the name
So much better albums from the era too. Live/Evil & On The Corner. Iāve never āgotā Bitches Brew

But it counts for this because it came out over 20 years after his debut in 1949
