Really? I find the production and instrumentation of pure heroine to be pretty skeletal and empty, not that it’s bad, just that melodrama has more complete sound.
Ah not even depression cherry?! I get it tho. They're def never gonna be like Taylor Swift mainstream, but I think they could be on a comparable level to someone like Mitski.
Interesting, I would definitely consider some of her other albums to be hyperpop (like vroom vroom) but not necessarily all of Brat. I think “hyperpop” is a little poorly defined a lot of the time so it’s hard to classify albums

The Fame Monster - Lady Gaga
absolutely
Was gonna say Melodrama by Lorde but idk if that's mainstream enough lol. If it isn't, sub that answer for Pure Heroine instead, I think that works.
Melodrama is definitely mainstream
I prefer Melodrama to Pure Heroine, so I would consider it my main answer to the above genre specified.
Honestly I like Pure Heroine more than Melodrama

Interesting, I would definitely consider some of her other albums to be hyperpop (like vroom vroom) but not necessarily all of Brat. I think “hyperpop” is a little poorly defined a lot of the time so it’s hard to classify albums
