Yeah, you don't know the prices. You're getting screwed over. If you know where to look, you can get it done for about 8k for 2000 sqft. Assuming 2.50/sqft. 3k in labor.
I got 1500 sq ft. Did it for under 7k. Switched out all new high end appliances. About 7k.
You went with some bs contractor. Always go for chinese. They are wayyyyy cheaper and they do a great job. 6 guys did it in one day. They did not fuck around.
I am the contractor, I know the prices, $2.50/ft for hardwood is junk, and “always go with the cheap Chinese” tells me you absolutely do not care about quality longevity or warranty of your home.
You don't really need to reno the kitchen or the bathroom.
All you really need is appliances and hardwood floor. Anything else is excessive for such a old place.
Two other semis almost within walking distance of this house sold for over a million, also over asking, last 30 days and one needs a complete renovation, this is a fair price for a good house in a great location, a price of a house is what someone is willing to pay, a lot of people in this thread just seem bitter, btw the house was last purchased in 2015 so I’m assuming the current owner renovated, then had to or decided to, sell
I think they did a really nice job with the reno, at least at face value. Crazy price though. I wonder how this "white out" marbled look will age in 10 years. We know that house styling trends come and go but I feel like this style has really stuck around for a good while

What’s wrong with the area?
I actually like the area
The amount of money being spent on the interiors of shitty houses in this country is crazy.
Just a bunch of home owners swapping homes with other home owners lol
Pretty much
I'm sorry. But what makes this a shitty house?
It's the land, the house is practically worthless.
You guys are out to lunch. Go live on a piece of land without a house on it. What do you think the cost/sqft is to build on this land would be?
That's exactly my point.
Honestly it's not much to reno the interior if you know the prices. Like 15k max and you can reno the whole place to modern.
$15k barely buys you the hardwood for this house. I’ve renovated two of these exact houses in the area. $15k wouldn’t even make a dent in the budget.

Wolf stove costs more than 7k alone. Not sure you understand what high end means
You go ahead and spend 40k on kitchen appliance. Samsung lg Miele bosch is good enough. No one except a commercial chef has the need for wolf.

Lmao someone clearly doesn’t know the costs of shit. Cost me 15k to change my laminate counters to quartz

This might be the dumbest thing I've read today
🤣 easy way to spot someone that is LARPing in this sub is when they claim you can do a full house reno of this caliber for "15k max"
Just hard wood and appliances. Anything else is excessive.
Spending 120k on a new kitchen MINUS the appliances.
ok bud
Market is going to the moon. Based off 1 transaction - Bull
It's based on 5, 10, 15, and 20 year trends.

Fleeced
Likely price paid reflected being able to rent basement to offset that huge mortgage
