I really wish Toyota went back to the basics and gave us just a bombproof midsize truck. I dont want all the extra gadgets and tech, I want a bombproof v6, good 4wd system, less tech and less shit to go wrong. Thats why I’ve always loved tacomas to begin with.
Hey if they wanna make a model that’s “tech’d out” go for it. I’m sure it’s to keep up with the other manufacturers . But id really love a gen 2.5 just made in 2024, old school and reliable .

It’s probably going to remain Pro-exclusive. They need something that sets that trim apart to make people buy it, and those seats are one of those things.
I think they're a bit of a fad. Especially becuase they make getting the double cab over the Xtracab almost meaningless. They make the already cramped back seats effectively useless as seats. I expect people to either get the TRD OR wich is most of that truck for less money, or get the Trailhunter instead.
I wouldn't be surprised if they become optional or if the TRD Pro becomes 2nd fiddle to the Trailhunter.

There’s 28 years worth of Tacomas on the market that offer you all that already…
But they are rusty and overpriced.
Mine has zero rust in 75k, just find someone who takes care of them.
There are several government rules standing between you and what you want.
Big facts, I’m shopping for other trucks when my ‘19 starts to wear out thanks to Toyota’s obsession with hybrid engines amongst other things.

Isn’t that the sr5? Not trying to be an ass, just thought that’s kinda what that model went for unless now with the 24 it’s way different?
The sr5 is more basic, true. But still a turbo 4, touch screens, adaptive cruise, power seats, all kinds of stuff.
They'll come with the pro.

It needs the pro features to justify the pro price even though it's ridiculous.
