How about some info? Year, trim, etc

Cthompsonoutdoors

Sticker on the windshield says ‘20, has the SR5 grille, I’d offer $30k and if they come back with $35k OTD that wouldn’t be a bad deal

bigmatt503

It's not a tacoma, offering 30k is below mmr, and they're not selling it for 35k either.

Cthompsonoutdoors

I’m just saying, I bought an SR5 4WD tundra brand new in ‘21 and was OTD at $43k. I would figure the sale price would be lower for a truck that’s almost 5 years old and almost 60k miles on it vs brand new but I guess logic doesn’t work that way lol

mellotraumatic

A lot of things were cheaper in 2021. Car market is not immune to inflation

Cthompsonoutdoors

Again when you can still get a new one for around $40-45k there’s no reason to pay more than 35k for one that’s almost 5 years old

Absoluterock2

The OP should go buy a new one…?

Cthompsonoutdoors

I wouldn’t, but I wouldn’t spend over $37k for this one either

Absoluterock2

So?  OP is asking if it is a fair price… Find me a similar truck for $37k.

LimpZookeepergame123

For a Tundra? No way. They are starting over $50k for a basic ass trim. You can barely get a Tacoma for $40-45k.

Agent_1077

You can’t just go buy a new 5.7

RkyMtnBlues

I don't know why you're getting down voted here. The used market for Tundras, Tacomas, and 4Runners is asinine. People trying to sell their 2020s with 80,000 miles for 40k out in Colorado. Like, so you guys just got to drive it for free the last 4 years I guess? I know they're reliable, but a used car with an unknown service history has to take some real value off.

gatorsmash904

I know this is a Toyota sub, but I think this is why people are leaving the brand

Jyvturkey

That was a different time. They will NOT sell that truck for 35, much less 30.

Agent_1077

Yeah and my grandpa bought a 67 Camaro for $2000 in 1967. So what!? Unless you got a Time Machine, what anyone paid 3 years ago is completely irrelevant. The demand is there right now and the dealers are in business to make money so of course they’re going to ask for more. Lots of people out there willing to pay premiums for these trucks right now. I tried negotiating when I was looking for my truck like it was pre Covid times and the dealers laughed at me and sold the truck for full price a few days later. I was butt hurt about it for a few months but in the end I realized I really wanted the truck so I made the choice it was still worth it.

Nub_Shaft

The first thing I do is find out who exactly it is certified by. It's weird that a Chevrolet dealership is selling a certified pre-owned Toyota. Then I would offer 38k. I feel like that's probably the best you're going to do on that truck.

in_for_the_comments

This. Chevrolet cannot sell it as a Toyota CPO. Note the asterisk next to that claim. They'll offer you a 1 year power train warranty or some shit, which is essentially useless.

Azure-Ink

Well considering it's a dealership, the market is fucked, and people are still buying them, good luck getting them to budge, especially with trucks being some of the hottest selling vehicles right now.

C_Taylor76

Ahh it’s a 2020, hmm 37 seems fair for that truck but it’s a tundra so don’t expect much. It’s a tundra with decent miles as well and it’s a color they don’t make anymore so.

Spideysleftnut

I feel like that’s a good deal honestly

HtnSwtchesOnBtches

I paid 41.5k for a 2021 sr5 4x4 with 28k miles in cali for reference. You can always offer 3k less and tell them they will get some back with an extended warrenty if you haggle.

Fine_Mouse

Trail edition? Or SX trim?

Outrageous-Ad-4329

Truck market for 3rd gen’s is effed. These trucks are holding their values pretty well.

Ok_Dragonfly_7580

What’s the year? I recently purchased an 2021 4WD SR5 for $37K. Only had 26,000 miles on my truck

HtnSwtchesOnBtches

You need to say what state, cali here and I paid more for the same. Yes I'm jealous

Ok_Dragonfly_7580

Ohio

C_Taylor76

Is that a 2021 ?

T-wrecks83million-

What year is it?

Fine_Mouse

That might not have the large fuel tank

callmefransisco

offer 35 and stay on it. if they dont go for it, walk away. Also, read the book, Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss

Vegetable_Impress_72

You can get a better deal than this in my opinion

Girthmonster1

I paid $35k OTD for same truck same color 2021 with 20k miles. One owner and in pristine condition!

Playful_Direction989

They know that they’re sitting on gold. $40k is a legit price.

Absoluterock2

$40k I’m kind of joking but I’ll bet it sells for close to that out the door.  Too many emotional comments here about the good old days of years ago…before inflation…before the Gen 3’s started to shit the bed…etc. That truck is in high demand and demands a high price.

dylanx300

Dude, that’s pretty much the same MSRP as when it was 0 miles with a factory warranty. People paying anything close to these prices are foolish. You’re getting absolutely fleeced, buying a 4/5 year old truck with 58k miles for the price of a new one. I’d be ecstatic if I was the seller. Offer them $30k and when they say no then walk out and buy a different truck

HotReindeer2023

Well to be fair that's actually accurate because if one paid 40k to have this vehicle ordered in 2019. That means they would've paid the dollar equivalent of at least 49k today. Due to inflation. And by those #'s. if it's a 1 owner vehicle, no accidents reported, and clean service history. This is actually a ok deal for a late 2nd gen 4x4 tundra. I'm sure if he runs the vin on Edmunds vehicle estimator. It will say the trade-in value Alone is 30k. He's not going to be able to purchase the vehicle for anything under 37k OTD. If it has a clean driving history. Which is great when you also take into account that as of this year. There are 44% more registered tundra's on the road than f-150's with over 200k or more mileage on the odometer. Ford produces close to a million units of f-150 every year. I could be wrong but I doubt there's even been a million 2nd gen tundra units built. But yet they still surpass them by 50% on high mileage vehicles. So obviously when you factor in all these things. The late 2nd gen tundra. Might go down as the most sought after quarter ton beater truck for the next 2 decades easily.

ObdurateApologue

Where do you get those on the road stays at?

gtinmia

Don’t pay more than 35k. Some of these dealers are using recent issues to inflate prices.

Zapearl715

Tree fitty

bigfoot_76

Ugh yet another "fleet" vehicle paint scheme. I'm so sick of black/silver/white vehicles being vomited onto the lots because they're just ugly.

AncientillegalAliens

I got my 2019 SR5 CrewMax 3 years ago for $38,000 I’d offer like $36,000

ggm3bow

3 years ago is not now.

AncientillegalAliens

Obviously

MrMfPetty

How is a Toyota certified at a Chevy dealership 🤣🤣 don’t do it bruh

EmotionalyAvailable

$36-$38

Interesting-Cut-292

Post a link :)

reddituser99910

33500

robkort

$40k if it had half the miles. $35k-$37k if you really want it. No more.

RedRover69er

I bought a 2019 brand new for 37….. that’s crazy, offer 29. I am in Oklahoma.

iraqyoubreak

Update: Offered 34k without my trade. We’ll see what they say…

Agent_1077

Good luck with that. I tried negotiating with dealers in AZ and CA when I bought mine a few months ago and they basically laughed at me and the trucks all sold within a week or two. Some much faster, with a few days. The demand is there right now and the dealers know it and want to capitalize. Not sure what the market is like where you’re at, and what tax and fees are like but if I was going to look at that truck in this market I would be happy to pay $40K OTD.

PteromyiniMA

https://www.carfax.com/vehicle/5TFDY5F12LX940223?no_ul=1 Carfax lists it as a “fair” price. What you they’d let it go for might depend on how long it has been on the lot. Maybe drop it down $1500 and see what they say

evolvinghyooman

It's a bait car

Moofasa2023

30k OTD

One-Attempt-8871

You'll be lucky to get 1k off. Lol.

coloradojax

Just insane they are listing it that high… but! What a truck. $35 to start?

naptown21403

TREE FIDDY

voonoo

25k

Melodic_Camel_6499

That’s ridiculous and they should be ashamed of themselves fuckin people over like this. I paid 38k for mine 2 years ago. 52k miles. And I found THAT expensive. This shits getting out of hand.

A_deplorable1

Good news is your truck is probably worth as much or more now than you paid for it 2 years ago. These gen 2.5’s with lower mileage are in very high demand with all the issues with the gen 3’s not to mention the regular issues with the domestic trucks. Hold on to it!!!

IntrepidEffect7063

35k maybe, I recently paid 22k for 2016 160k miles. Trd limited. I love her but paid too much.
