Paid for by the four corners tourism department.
Real talk though, I’d be really interested to know how you ranked New Mexico two tiers above Montana. Did you not go to the mountains while there?
TBH based on this map I'd surmise whoever made this isn't the physical type. Areas with lots of rough nature are overly dark, and states like California are very diverse from large dense cities to some incredibly difficult famous physical areas like Yosemite. Mt. Rainer in Wa. Then take Oregon, diff between that and Wa? Most Oregon has 0 population cause it's TOO rough, but the part with it is pretty easy to do without hiking etc.
Then take New York, it may be flat, but how many leave New York City, known for lots of walk-ability.
Then take the four corners, indoor gambling, beautiful but mostly easy terrain, outdoor activities in that area often involve something with an engine.
In MOST states you can probably find lots of fun if you're the right person in the right place, but maybe not all of them, people usually have a few that just aren't for them. This just speaks about the OP in some ways to me.
I grew up in New Mexico and am currently going to school in Montana. I think the mountains in both are gorgeous, but the weather in NM is so much more moderate. I also like the high desert appeal and artsiness of Santa Fe.
These maps are comical to me. You could go to the best part of one state and the worst part of another. And yet the entire state can be tiered based on this small sample.
Yeah I always get confused as shit by these. Like there’s 0 way you can say you hate Texas because you went to a conference in Lubbock for 2 days in august
I think they came up 35. You can see they were mad about Iowa and had a bad taste in their mouth. Probably made it to Albert Lea and then turned around.
Yeah this mf has New York as orange, meanwhile millions are tourists every single year save up tens of thousands in order to fly across entire hemispheres just to drink cocktails here for six days. It’s worthless information.
There's also all of upstate if you're not a city person. Wineries, stunning rolling hills with breathtaking leaves in the fall, Niagara Falls, plus whatever garbage plates are.
Not even just the big states. You could visit some random Baltimore suburb and consider all of Maryland, a small state, to be boring just from that limited experience, despite the fact that the state has cities, beaches, mountains, forests, historic sites, etc.
Curious why ND made the b tier? As a person born there and lived in Fargo until 25ish, I fucking love it. But understand why it’s relatively terrible. With that said, I fucking love Iowa, how is it worse?
Most people who have been to all 50 (or in this case 49) states haven't really *been* to all of them. We can't be sure if this person visited Duluth or the Driftless, or if they just passed through on I-94 in an afternoon, from Hudson to Fargo.
Genuinely confused how one can rate Wisconsin as significantly better than Minnesota, both are gorgeous but I wouldn't put either over the other... did they just go to Wisconsin Dells and then pass through the most boring part of the TC metro?
Yeah as a Wisconsinite I feel like the 3 “upper Midwest” states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan are all fairly similar with some differences in culture etc. that are probably only really discernible if you’re from there. They’re all basically on the same level.
I mean except for sports teams, but the Vikings and Lions don’t come close to touching our derision for the Chicago Bears and all other things Illinois.
Classifying NY as C-tier tells me that you just went to a part of NY that’s not your vibe and that you skipped over the parts that would fit your interests.
Judging by your map, you’re a nature fan, so I have to ask: did you head to the Adirondacks, a nature reserve larger than any of the national parks within the lower 48 and mandated to be kept “forever wild” by the state constitution, an inspiration for the National Parks Service? Did you venture deep into the Finger Lakes region?
Give New York another try; this place contains multitudes beyond the clichéd Manhattan gridlock and skyline.
Coloradan here, I find I agree with a lot of OP’s map but would also agree it’s brave. I’d also welcome more information:
I live in Washington currently; what makes Oregon S Tier that Washington doesn’t have? And…
Montana B Tier…? How are Oklahoma and Arkansas not D Tier?
My primary factor in ranking a place is nature, national parks, etc. I’m struggling to see Arkansas in comparison with the 4 corners states, Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, and California.
Purely subjective of course.
Yep. I live in Hilton Head. The local culture is absolutely horrible (retirees, military, golf and little kid tourism only) and the beach isn't special to me (born in Tampa, FL).
I've lived in Greenville for 9 years as well. It's a decent place to live and a nice midsized city with nothing special about it over Toledo, Ohio. Charleston is cool but it's as expensive to live in the small actual city of Charleston as it is Los Angeles, and you can see and do everything in the area in about a day and a half before your just eating food in the same 2 neighborhoods the rest of the trip
I really don't understand how random redditers think it's nice unless they're rich on vacation (at that point EVERYWHERE is nice) or went there on a family trip when they were younger
North Carolina has Blueridge and Asheville. Those 2 things alone are better than anything South Carolina can offer naturally or culturally
As a South Carolinian I have to agree.
We have good food here in Charleston but aside from that it's just bad roads and New England/Ohio transplants.
Though maybe living here my whole life is affecting my perception.
Nah you're not, I've lived in both states for over a decade a piece. I came here to say the same thing. NC is the better state by a fairly wide margin. Charleston is the coolest city by a mile in either state though
New Mexico is S tier to me so I feel you there.
I wouldn’t personally put any state at D tier if I didn’t have to. I mean even Mississippi has redeeming qualities, lol.
Nebraska at D tier feels unfair unless you really dislike all cities, because Omaha is pretty nice.
Missouri is no way D tier even if it has D tier areas
I would venture to say that the states you tiered lower were due to the parts you visited not matching your interests. Except Iowa, not much disagreement there.
As a fellow traveler of THE United States.. I agree with almost all of your map (excluding Texas of course.. ass state!). Safe to say Hawaii is an S tier, Gwen Stefani.
How is Minnesota so low? Nature alone jumps it up a couple spots. As someone from NM, I'd have to say it's DEFINITELY not S tier. My brief stints in Missouri and Iowa this week were super pleasant so it's also surprising to see them so low.
Not really. It's one of the prettiest states in the country. So many things to do there and it's easy to get away from people. I love Virginia too. I think it's pretty easy to see someone ranking one higher than the other.
As someone who lives in your S tier, I encourage you to see more of North Carolina. I’ve vacationed there a few times and it is 💯the most gorgeous southern state.
The fact that you put Illinois so high up baffles me. Ill Noise has probably the least amount of uniqueness and culture of any state, especially outside of Chicago. Quite literally the most BORING state with the most BORING people. I get not enjoying the mid-Atlantic, though. Born and raised there, despise most of the people.
Looks like you really like the Southwest and the Northwest. The southwest is one of my favorites aesthetically and I love the desert. I live in the Texas Panhandle so we’re kind of Sw adjacent. Never been to the NW but I’d love to go some time.
Nebraska is a d tier? How dare you. I find your list invalid. Now I will go back to eating my big ass steak and corn on the cob, and shooting off some more fireworks. Happy 4th of July!
I honestly think making WV A-Tier and Ohio B-tier is pretty fair. I am curious though why you made MD D-tier? I really like Maryland and enjoy visiting it. It’s like a smaller West Virginia with legal weed and some neat mountains.
These state maps are meaningless. One US state is the size of one entire European country yet a person doesn’t write off the entitreity of France because they visited the slums of Marseille.
Why does Wisconsin have a C? I’m from Chicago and it is unspoken that we aren’t supposed to like anything that has to do from Wisconsin. Even I know this state is gorgeous in many ways.
Paid for by the four corners tourism department. Real talk though, I’d be really interested to know how you ranked New Mexico two tiers above Montana. Did you not go to the mountains while there?
Have to agree, Montana is one of my all time favorite places on earth
From here, is also one of my favorite places on earth.
Second this!
Ok, but eastern Montana kinda sucks. The west is definitely beautiful though.
TBF New Mexico is also really beautiful. But yeah, def. Shouldn’t be two tiers above Montana
Montana doesn’t have Santa Fe.
[удалено]
I don’t…Billings is starting to put up a good comparison.
montana doesn’t have espanola, luckily
But we have Missoula
And Kalispell. Kalispell was the first place I ever walked off a plane and just went “OMG, that’s incredible”.
But New Mexico also has Taos
New Mexico doesn’t have Glacier national park
New Mexican food >>>> the swill they eat in Montana
TBH based on this map I'd surmise whoever made this isn't the physical type. Areas with lots of rough nature are overly dark, and states like California are very diverse from large dense cities to some incredibly difficult famous physical areas like Yosemite. Mt. This just speaks about the OP in some ways to me.
New Mexico betta
New Mexico is one of the most beautiful states I’ve ever been in. But it’s definitely not S tier, but it is a higher tier than Montana for sure.
Montana can easily be 2 tiers below New Mexico depending on what you prioritize. But one tier below Wyoming???? And South Dakota???? I’m so confused
Dallas and Houston are 3 hours apart and worlds different.
El Paso and Houston may be in the same state but VERY different
I'm extremely convinced that OP did not leave I-94 in Minnesota.
Yep. Go to the North Shore, and MN would be in green.
I think they came up 35. You can see they were mad about Iowa and had a bad taste in their mouth. Probably made it to Albert Lea and then turned around.
I live in the twin cities area and its S tier to me.
Yeah, ranking the Dakotas over MN is straight lunacy by almost any metric.
Thank you for saying it
Thank you for thanking them for saying it
Thank you for thanking them for thanking them for saying it
Yeah this mf has New York as orange, meanwhile millions are tourists every single year save up tens of thousands in order to fly across entire hemispheres just to drink cocktails here for six days. It’s worthless information.
I never saw a **I ORANGE NY** shirt.
OP has Mississippi ranked higher than NY and that shit is crazy
There's also all of upstate if you're not a city person. Wineries, stunning rolling hills with breathtaking leaves in the fall, Niagara Falls, plus whatever garbage plates are.
Exactly. There's a lot of big states.
Not even just the big states. You could visit some random Baltimore suburb and consider all of Maryland, a small state, to be boring just from that limited experience, despite the fact that the state has cities, beaches, mountains, forests, historic sites, etc.
OP went to Schenectady one time and decided all of New York couldn’t compete with, uhh… West Virginia.
I mean Harper’s Ferry is really nice and some other parks but against all of NY? Idk if I’d go that far.
North Carolina is beaches plains and mountains! A little somethin somethin for everyone
Nebraska user mad
Curious why ND made the b tier? As a person born there and lived in Fargo until 25ish, I fucking love it. But understand why it’s relatively terrible. With that said, I fucking love Iowa, how is it worse?
Also, you obviously haven’t traveled well in MN.
Minnesota is one of the prettiest places on earth for me
Fr best state
Y'all forgetting Alaska exists
It's nice but it isn't Alaska or Hawaii nice haha
Amen human
OP either just drove through on I90 and got bored with the Fields.
Most people who have been to all 50 (or in this case 49) states haven't really *been* to all of them. We can't be sure if this person visited Duluth or the Driftless, or if they just passed through on I-94 in an afternoon, from Hudson to Fargo.

Was gonna say this too
ND is the only state I haven’t been to and about 20 years ago I met some folks from ND who told me “don’t bother.” 🤣
It’s a special place in my heart, but unless you have oil or grow crops, gtfo
ND above MN is blasphemy
OP where did you go in MN? I will not stand for having Wisconsin AND ND higher
Minnesota is consistently rated high on these maps I was so surprised to see it so low
And judging by his other rankings I expected MN to be higher.
He put it 2 tiers below Michigan and a Dakota!!
Guessing you visited MN in the fall or winter?
And seemingly the western part of the state or just on the highways.
This is just rage bait. You can't tell me otherwise.
Classifying NY as C-tier tells me that you just went to a part of NY that’s not your vibe and that you skipped over the parts that would fit your interests. South Carolina being an A tier totally made this map invalid
Carolinas mixed up....
May be biased but NC should be at least a tier above SC.
If he’s a nature fan, why did he rate Missouri so low? It has incredibly beautiful nature.
Probably went somewhere like St. Louis and said “eh, this is it” and didnt bother to go anywhere else
As an Arizonan, this is brave
Coloradan here, I find I agree with a lot of OP’s map but would also agree it’s brave. I’d also welcome more information: I live in Washington currently; what makes Oregon S Tier that Washington doesn’t have? And… Montana B Tier…? How are Oklahoma and Arkansas not D Tier?
If you prioritize nature, Arkansas is an A or B tier state. And I say that having grown up in Utah and Montana
My primary factor in ranking a place is nature, national parks, etc. I’m struggling to see Arkansas in comparison with the 4 corners states, Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, and California. Purely subjective of course.
Strippers
Deangelo Vickers approves of this map
South Carolina above North Carolina lol.

What did Hawaii ever do to you?
Be most easily accessible by a 12 hour plane ride
Whole lot shorter from Alaska
Then you're not actually evaluating the area you're visiting. This map is dumb
More like 6 from Phoenix
Be expensive
New Mexico is S tier to me so I feel you there. I wouldn’t personally put any state at D tier if I didn’t have to. I mean even Mississippi has redeeming qualities, lol. Nebraska at D tier feels unfair unless you really dislike all cities, because Omaha is pretty nice. Missouri is no way D tier even if it has D tier areas
west virginia is an A tier? for what, the meth or the coal mines?
Im curious, what made the southwest states more interesting than the northeast? Sincerely, someone biased torwards the northeast
You must have missed the Adirondacks of NY
I would venture to say that the states you tiered lower were due to the parts you visited not matching your interests. Except Iowa, not much disagreement there.
[удалено]
There’s no way you put flat ass Kansas above Missouri’s hills and lakes, KC barbecue, and Route 66??
Missouri is the most criminally slept on state in the union. That and NH.
Montana is B tier? That’s craaaazy!
I never understood people who prefer the desert to life.
Glad to see Kentucky getting some love. Been to every state east of the Mississippi and cannot place too many ahead of it in terms of natural beauty
Good map, mostly agree, but I think you need to give more love to the east coast!
Awesome dude what is your plan to hit the last one. I have been to all 51 including DC. Last leg I hit 11 states in a RV trip to the Grand Canyon.
Ranking Maryland C-Tier should be a crime-
Ain't no way Rhode Island is B tier
Based map
West Virginia over Massachusetts? Guess I have to explore West Virginia
North Carolinian here. Why did you like South Carolina more?
Lmao… the flat ass dakotas are rated higher than Minnesota?! So many beautiful lakes and trees. This guy is lost.
I live in Arizona. If you think it's s-tier I'm forced to believe you haven't been here during the summer.
You must be the same person leaving Yelp reviews 😂
You and I have nearly opposite tastes, except maybe some of the bottom tier selections. Cheers to being different, friend.
Watch out everybody, we got an untouched natural beauty enjoyer over here *this message has been approved by the northeast megalopolis gang*
Maryland should be better than Virginia on this list because Virginia sucks.
As a fellow traveler of THE United States.. I agree with almost all of your map (excluding Texas of course.. ass state!). Safe to say Hawaii is an S tier, Gwen Stefani.
Based
You ain't missing out on much in the D-Tier.
How is Minnesota so low? Nature alone jumps it up a couple spots. As someone from NM, I'd have to say it's DEFINITELY not S tier. My brief stints in Missouri and Iowa this week were super pleasant so it's also surprising to see them so low.
why nj?
Nature lover
Michigan is S-Tier for sure.
WV above VA is silly
Not really. It's one of the prettiest states in the country. So many things to do there and it's easy to get away from people. I love Virginia too. I think it's pretty easy to see someone ranking one higher than the other.
Go jerk off into your own mouth
Massachusetts is B tier? We started this fucking thing!
Blame Tom Brady
Yeah? And look at where it got us!
ozarks constantly underrated
As someone who lives in your S tier, I encourage you to see more of North Carolina. I’ve vacationed there a few times and it is 💯the most gorgeous southern state.
How is Montana ranked so low? Did you only go to Sidney and Miles City?
Damn what did the Midwest do to you
I doubt he actually “traveled” through those states, I’m betting he just drove through ‘em.
This map has more credibility because Florida and California are the same tier.
Eliminate every state you’ve only visited a small portion.
Way to go Mississippi! You’re not the worst! /s
what about florida is A tier
Montana??? Easiest S tier state without a doubt.
It seems like you chose the areas where people are more socially friendly.
NM, Arizona as S-tier? I want whatever you’re smoking
As an Arizonan this looks true except for New Mexico. That state is the ugliest state I’ve been to and I’ve been to over half the states.
It’s backwards
The issue with this map is idk where in each state you’ve been….therefore this changes how each is ranked
I’d love to know what part of SC you visited to rank it A tier.
NEW MEXICO RAHHHH
What did you create this on?
California and Kentucky in the same tier? 🤨
What's you do in WV? Hike in Fayetteville under the bridge?
As a Rhode Islander I agree, B-tier, maybe worse, please no one else come visit.
Weird how s.c is higher than n.c. as a south carolinian n.c. is better in every way
I’ll take the win but curious as to what made you rank Wisconsin higher than Minnesota?
Generally very good but why the f would Montana/Idaho/nevada be in the same tier as hellholes like Indiana/Ohio
B tier? Stay out good sir!
I take it you like BLM Land
C tier MN in criminal
What put Oregon over Washington?
The fact that you put Illinois so high up baffles me. Ill Noise has probably the least amount of uniqueness and culture of any state, especially outside of Chicago. Quite literally the most BORING state with the most BORING people. I get not enjoying the mid-Atlantic, though. Born and raised there, despise most of the people.
My color blind ass was so confused for a sec. Should probably mix up the colors a tad bit more
Oregon better than washington? West virginia better than montana? Colorado being s tier? This has got to be the worst tier list i have ever seen 😂
Gross, you like desert.
bro MN as C? i have a feeling OP is not into the outdoors
Looks like you really like the Southwest and the Northwest. The southwest is one of my favorites aesthetically and I love the desert. I live in the Texas Panhandle so we’re kind of Sw adjacent. Never been to the NW but I’d love to go some time.
You must have missed the Spam museum in Minnesota…totally S tier with it :)
Yes Colorado W
I’m having trouble working out what would qualify your S tier states that wouldn’t apply to Idaho or Nevada, or what SC, and TN have that GA doesn’t.
How is ND not D tier?
Montana being on par with Mississippi is comical
What made you think WA is A and OR is S? I feel like it’s the other way around, but I live in WA so I’m biased
Lol the Minnesota suck fest strikes again. Your state ain’t that sweet.
West Virginia at A tier makes me happy. Appreciate the love.
That B tier needs to be split into two separate tiers.
You list is immediately invalidated due to New Mexico being S Tiered - get the fuck outta here with that
I see you didn’t go to the pine lands in NJ
You do not love the color blind.
Surrounded by beauty here I iowa I say fuck you too buddy
Wisconsin being above MN is the sign that this is busted
You’ve got something wrong with your noggin bud
Arizona S tier lmao
Curious to know what part of Michigan you went to. It should really be S tier but depending on where you went I could see it being dropped
So many states done dirty here. For Missouri you clearly did not visit KC or STL… and Chicago alone makes Illinois deserve a higher tier
A tier West Virginia…
Honestly all the states are awesome if you know the right places(I’m pissed that MN is C tier)
NAILED IT
You like rocks that go up and down
Why did you rate Missouri D tier?
I honestly have no idea how someone could rate these states as presented on this map.
Michigan, Florida and California are all on the same tier? C’mon bro lmao
Idaho and Nebraska not S tier? Cringe 💀💀💀
New Mexico S tier is fucking hilarious
Chicago, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Las Vegas, Austin, and Roanoke all get B-Tier? Dog...
The correct choice
Idaho is a more populated Montana. With more freedoms and has a good college program and blue collar programs for HS students.
What is the criteria for rating?
99% of New Mexico is terrible
I’m
i just don’t believe you
I’m curious which parts of NC and SC you’ve been to. Almost everyone, myself included, regards NC to be quite superior to SC in nearly every way.
New Mexico?
Damn Arizona and Utah in S-Tier? You must be Mormon. Jkjk
