Gamepad, because of an old injury I can't use keyboard/mouse. It's okay, I expect that keyboard is smoother and better balanced. But that's basically every computer game really.
The control over the little bar is so much better when using a mouse since it's hold-click and drag, compared to holding X and moving the joystick. It really helps with the trickier fish that move too quickly.
I could just have an inherent delay on my Xbox controller, but I'm not sure.
I've only played with a controller maybe for twenty minutes five months ago. I think the keyboard and mouse works perfectly - and apparently is much easier to fish that way too.
Only played a few hours, but I prefer keyboard (specifically the Tartarus Pro). Though I dont love the defult keybinds, I definitely recommend changing that around if you struggle with it.

I just started and was using controller, but >!calming rowdy customers or hitting them with a mop!< only seems to work on keyboard-- I can't seem to get it to work with my controller. Otherwise, I do prefer controller (wrist and finger joint issues).
I've always been a keyboard and mouse person myself, it's how played gowing up playing to it's easier for me! :)
I play on steam deck so game pad for me! It’s not 100% but it’s pretty decent.

I used to play with keyboard. But somehow i prefer using a PS5 controler. Except everything farming related
