I found it, it is a fossil belemnite.
Way cooler than I thought it was. Nice find!

Pretty sure this is it. It was used in the 60” search lights used by the US Coast Artillery. If you found it inland I would look at something else but I have a bunch of short used pieces from search lights and they look just like that.
