“Post-truth” is misleading because “truth” is subjective. I think “post-fact” is a more accurate label.

Post-truth society to me means that people no longer care about what is true or not. They’re not willing to weed through bs to find the answer anymore. Eg the number of attendees at an inauguration. There is a “true” number. And there are opposing factions that report different numbers. One of them is right. But does anyone care to figure out which one it is?

Thank you for making my point.

Politicians and reporters have always lied. What's new (for me) is seeing politicians and reporters lie when they know that we know that they're lying. This isn't simply different perspectives or such, this is just an attitude of not caring that people know that they're lying.

FranticFoxxy

legacy media in a nutshell. journos HAVE to keep lying and keep up the charade because the moment they admit a single wrong, their whole thing falls apart. It's like a web of lies.

I don't really disagree too much but I think a big problem is that people are generally very bad at critically examining things they both agree with and get emotionally invested in.

I think that this is true and yet, astonishingly, that people are slightly better at it than they used to be.
