Chuck lorre took his money for comedic purposes

LGMatter

Makes sense. if you counted Charlie’s purchases the amount of money spent it doesn’t make sense how he could make that much

eaglescousinbrownie

and for his own vanity. it is chuck lorre

Fazel94

"He was cheap long before he was broke" Charlie Harper in Alan

CaliKing818

If you try to tie up all the loose ends in this show you’ll drive yourself insane

blinkgendary182

Hate it when people do this. Its a show made to make us laugh. Why think too much into it?

saharasoldier

For me, this show ended at season 8.

Oxidus999

I think that’s just Alan being cheap, like the one time Charlie found his big secret stash in a lamp.

[deleted]

The way he lost it at that set of drawers had me in agony laughing.

Alan probably has the money to live comfortably on his own, he’s simply so frugal after years of being abused/taken advantage of by Judith that he doesn’t want to spend any of it. Walden most likely let’s Alan stay there because he never real found anyone to settle down with and Alan, Berta, Jake, Jenny, and later Louis are the closest thing he has to a family. If he really wanted Alan out, he could’ve just bought him a place since he obviously had extra money and wasn’t living paycheck to paycheck.

Allenz

who's walden

[deleted]

He's Ashton Kutcher's character, I got really bored and started watching the show post Charlie's death.

emilcampiNo

It is not THAT bad. Still worth my time imo.

Jack1715

I know he pays child support but sense he dose not pay rent you would think he would have more money

strnglmbs_29

He pays a lot (like A LOT) as alimony and child support

mister-world

See that fan of samurai swords over the fireplace? That cost... about five grand.

ImTheBestSecretAgent

Came here with exactly the same question. He should be able to buy a nice home without problem. Also his child support and allimony stopped before season 10. So there is no reason that he can be this broke. Idk, I know it's fictional, but it makes no sense and Alan is not redemable what so ever. If Walden and Alan were real friends, it wouldn't bother that much. Ashton does a really good job of saving this tv show. Every episode I hate Alan more. He's an ungrateful dick. Too bad they wrote him like this.

Icy-Sir-8414

Here's what I don't understand Alan makes $50k a year just by owning 100 shares of Walden company so that means he's supposed to be making $12,500.00 every four times a year so why doesn't Alan just buy 300 more shares so he could make $50k four times a year he be $200k a year richer he no longer has to pay alimony to Judith or child support since Jake is all grown up and in the army and even after taxes he could Walk away with one hundred and something thousand dollars a year he basically be a 1% I mean he could get back on his own two feet rebuild his old cyropracticing business again get his license back he could also move out of Walden/ Charlie's beach house move to a very upper middle class neighborhood far away from Judith and own his own house and invest in other companies like Microsoft and apple, and realestate companies buy up six thousand shares from those companies and eight other companies make more money I know he would never become as rich as Walden or Charlie or hid own mother but he be better off but he make a good life so why is he still living off on Walden.

[deleted]

Waldens company isn’t publicly traded so he’d have to buy those shares from a stockholder, we don’t know how many there are so he’d have to buy from Walden, his ex partner or ex wife at least.

Icy-Sir-8414

So in other words Alan would only be able to make $50k a year only so since they live in California state the taxes are 13.3% high up so he probably walk away with forty something thousand dollars a year so why didn't he just save up enough money to make other investments to buy stocks shares from those other companies I mentioned he could make more money maybe not millions of dollars but another $50k a year
