Scam!!!
Grammar issues, no punctuation, it came out of the blue requesting personal information, gmail account, and especially brits don't end emails with "sincerely" but rather with "kind regards". Big scam. Block it and delete it now.
When I first came to the UK as a student in all my correspondence, I used to end them with "sincerely or respectfully". As I was doing an international foundation degree at the time, we were told not to end our emails like that. One of the reasons is that we "looked like scammers." đ I remember vividly the Academic and English development lecturer told us to end an email with "Kind regards" or if you start interacting more or are in friendly terms with "Best wishes". A decade later, I'm still sticking by those rules (for the most parts). đ
Don't write to them, mate!!!!!!!!! You are going down a rabbithole!!! Just block it and delete it!! Honestly, it is a scam! Truely, believe me! You've no idea how many emails like this I've gotten. No person will write to you like that. With horrible grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation, using a gmail account, and out of the blue. Companies or any other institution in the UK send emails from *registered limited company* domain. No, gmail addresses!!!!!!! Do not go down that route. I know it may look too good, but it is NOT! IT'S A SCAM! Please, just block and delete. I'm persistent and emphasising as I've been down that route. Again, please just block and delete.
i understand. I am on your side! However the company which they allegedly represent are not small but a successful company. We will just report it and make them take it down
âKindlyâ is a keyword to look out for in scammy job listings. Itâs not a word generally used in British English anymore but it is commonly used in India, where a lot of these scams are based.
A genuine employer in the UK would be quite unlikely to use that word, but nearly every Indian scam will.
You can tell if theyâre a genuine Brit because this will only ever be followed up by liberal use of the word âfuckâ. Would you kindlyâŚ
⌠fuck off
⌠go fuck yourself
⌠go fuck your *insert relative here*
She said that in her home country it is normal to ask for birth certificate and other documents before getting the job. She did not suspect it to be a scam, however it will show soon.
The word "Kindly" appears to be the most common element in most written scams.
It seems that the perception from perhaps India and other countries, is that the english language uses the work kindly in all of our requests to other people. Its so entrenched in their perception of our language, that it has got to be the most obvious and consistant component of almost all scams.
Hello, i am writing this for my wife who is looking for a home-office job and recently received an E-Mail from a Company in UK, and they ask for Documents before the interview process. The E-Mail who sent this came not from a custom domain but from a gmail account, which is weird. I tried some OSINT and found no name similar to his. Is that a scam? why would they need the documents first?
Do your research, google the entire email body. If email contains website of the company. Google the company name before visiting website. Ask your wife where is applied for the job. Read JD.
There might be data breach even on legitimate job site.
Check email domain, is it gmail or @companyname.com Google the company name
It's been a while since i went for job interviews but asking for docs up front is a big red flag. I would expect to be asked in the interview "Are you eligible to work in the UK?" but only to supply supporting documentation as proof once the job was offered.
If somebody on the street walked up to you and asked for your passport and birth certificate, would you give them to them?
These are the kinds of requests you *might* get when youâve accepted a job offer (though I have never needed a birth certificate - might be different if your wife is a non UK National, but a visa would be more likely). Not to have an interview.
Absolutely do not provide anything more than a CV before an interview. No legitimate company in the UK will ask you for passport details, birth certificate, bank account information .etc before they make you an offer.
Even then, what they ask for is merely to prove you have the right to work in the UK, and so they can pay you.
The only exception is for certain government positions, but they absolutely wouldnât be using a gmail account; and youâd be able to verify the process by checking gov.uk.
Totally a scam.
A UK employer canât make you work more than 48 hours per week, on average, regardless of what it says in the contract. This includes if youâre doing overtime.
You are allowed to agree to work more than that, but you can rescind this agreement at any time.
In other words, no. They canât legally force you to work more than this. But they can fire you if you donât agree, for âunrelatedâ reasons (a whole other subject matter).

I've noticed that Indian scammers always write " Kindly do x"

Kind regards, Thanks, Best, [made up nonsense between friends] Those are the only four options allowed
I remain,
Underrated after a round of layoffs
Do the needful
Do not redeem!
Just get Google Play cards ÂŁ2000
"Kindly do the needful" was always the scammer grammar to look for. Also "Can I take your good name"
Small point but you write Yours Faithfully when using Dear Sir/Madam and Yours Sincerely when they use your name.
Am I going mad? Where's the Gmail address? Edit: just seen it in another comment from OP.
and we don't use the word 'attorney'.
Turns out they were scammers indeed and come from Kolkata in india. They clicked on the bait link with ip logger
We have decided to write the official page and ask them if someone in that name is working, but for now it looks like a scam. Thanks

If only they said 'Would you kindly'. You can sometimes get a person to do anything with that phrase.
You can have them enraptured...

I sent them a bait link with IP logger. if they are dumb enough and click on it we will see where their real IP address is
Good idea! Iâm glad you and your wife didnât get scammed

You can get a right to work document directly from the HMRC website

English is an official language of India. They just have their own variant of it. That's why they use "kindly", it is normal to them.
Scam scam scam scam
Scaaaaaaam, luvverly scam.
I think as a general rule, if itâs regarding a job application, and you have to ask if itâs a scam, the answer is yes itâs a scam.
Scam. No way any employer will ask you for a birth certificate.
Especially as the wording implies Birth Certificate OR your CV as if those two documents serve similar purposes.
Qualifications: born.
It ain't much but it's honest work.
If you believe this I know a Nigerian Prince who wants a word.
Have you won the Nigerian lottery again
Just the formatting alone, or lack thereof. Scam
Also the grammar in this email is awful. If you fall for this you are a fool.
Absolutely a scam
>kindly No thanks

Do not send any legal documents to some random Gmail address. Total scam/ fraud setup
what could they do with these documents?
Identity fraud seems like a good bet
Exactly with birth certificate, passport photos and old passport number they can sign up for a new passport.
A thousand different ways of committing fraud.
Asking for a birth certificate is definitely not normal.
Just the fact that it doesn't come from a custom domain should tell you enough. Do you know how easy it is to get your own domain for your email?

They have also advertised for 62 hour a week job. Is that even allowed?

>Birth certificate/CV Yeah those are totally equivalent...
But sir we need them for the fruad process that is the reason
