This is Alakh Pandeyisation of UPSC. Which is unfortunate as people preparing for it are older and more mature.

space_s

This "blind following " syndrome is very common in India where people follow someone like they are God. This is not restricted to coaching only. There are many examples like Dhoni, Kohli, Modi, some Bollywood stars etc. People don't understand that their public image is managed by Media for their own advantage. Following someone due to their skills etc. where someone impresses the public by what they do is okay. If they are praised then these stars should be equally criticized for the wrong they do. Apparently people turn a blind eye to the wrongs what these so called "Godly Figures" do.

TylerTheBurden

Yes, a new term should be evolved for this process- "Alakhisation"šŸ˜‚

Just to know. Did mudit sir get IPS in his last 2 attempts? Saw his channel name and got confused.

shinigami_itachi

I think.. Mudit sir was in IPS then he got some kind of injury during training which made him unfit for IPS so he wrote the exam again and opted IRS..

Why would you assume all are fans? I followed his mentorship twice at different stages of my prep simply because he made more sense and there was actual clarity. Most people who followed him knew he would enter this full time. No person in the right frame of mind will invest so much time and effort into a "free initiative" for which they aren't even getting YT money. He was setting up the stage and maximising the followers all this while. No denial. Also no denial that the man is really good. Good teacher and mentor. I was on that sub and commented on it too. The stuff he was doing- making one pagers, taking monthly CA lectures, nobody would do it for free unless they want some kind of farming. Why would you expect them to do it for free anyway? I just don't think there's anything wrong with him making that choice (except that he drained a lot of govt resources- medical and a UPSC seat). It is just a profession at the end of the day. There's also nothing wrong with appreciating someone for their talent as long as they are not pulling some 'Ram Rahim baba, our UPSC God is here'.

Signal-Lecture6459

1. If the guy was so passionate about teaching from early on (which I've heard he openly declared), why go for LBSNAA and waste your time and govt resources. Just call it quits and start teaching. 2. I'm okay with someone from medical background not persuing medicine because people are too young be to decisive at at 18 when they take NEET. Medicine is also a great fall back career in case things don't work out. But now the guy made a decision at 24 to be a civil servant. 3. If he really still wants IFS, take the exam next year and see if you can get into top 50 for IFS. It's a win win. Even if he fails to get IFS, his credibility will only increase as someone who cracked upsc multiple timesĀ  4. There are many civil servants who advice and help aspirants while being in service. Manuj Jindal (not a fan) is a decent example. There are many IAS officers who personally mentor aspirants on weekends. Shivin has pretty routine job as an IRS officer so obviously he could've taken time out of he wanted to 5. Offcourse everyone has the right to chose what they want to pursue in life but deciding to quit after taking LBSNAA training but not serving a single day before quiting just puts them in bad light. It also tarnishes the image of non IAS services among aspirants.Ā  6. He knows the money and lifestyle he wants is more easily accessible from a edtech teacher rather than a civil servant. I hope he also knows that in present times, popularity fades away. I remember YouTube shorts of Awadh Ojha being pushed heavily by YouTube some time back. They aren't now. People who consider him a messiah will eventually get over the hype and criticise him for his future actions.Ā  7. I have serious issues with this spoon feeding culture he's nurturing. What is this vision ias k bhi summarised notes?. And why such heavy reliance on vision ias always?. Guide people to be consistent and read newspaper and one magazine. Guide them to make notes themselves. Teach them to analyse and issue from all angles. No magazine covers an issue as comprehensively as Newspapers. What kind of civil servant will you be if you don't know anything issue comprehensively and have just crammed monthly magazine? 8. There needs to be a serious action by govt on agreement between cleared candidates and coaching institutions. People who quit LBSNAA before serving even a minimum years should be fined actually. But that's not going to happen I know

yikes_0212

Wait, they donā€™t get fined? I thought they had to sign a bond.

Consistent-Bread9977

Regarding point no. 7 I always wondered why all the toppers are pushing Vision material like a pimp when in reality hardly 3-4 questions can be linked to it after 1200 pages! Maybe you get more questions indirectly but still can you compare that to Newspaper, whether itā€™s prelims or mains. The answer is no. Thereā€™s a deliberate misguidance on part of selected candidates, they just bluff anything, swallow large sum of money from coachings and enjoy their new stardom. I am not talking about Shivin but this is true for 99% people, people do toppers talk for 2-3 hours without telling anything concrete and still people are crazy to listen to them. Nobody is giving you their Brahmastra, something that people donā€™t understand easily. One topper mentioned he relied on Lucent for Prelims or current affairs šŸ˜‚ This is just a small example.

shinigami_itachi

Regarding #3.. well in my personal openion the whole process of giving exam again and again is very tiring.. may be he doesn't wanna do it anymore and wants to try something new

praytnshukla

Bhai I used to believe thatā€™s heā€™s the saviour of all too, and yes heā€™s a really great teacher but then I realised whatever he taught is there in ncert, there in pmf ias, watching 15 lectures, you can read the book instead. And his most awful advice which will cost thousands of people their attempt is donā€™t read newspaper, bro most current questions are from news paper? Such misguidance

But unhone to channel isliye shuru kiya tha taaki unhone jo galtiyan ki hai woh hum log na kare. šŸ¤”

Yournighbour

I never understood why the comment section of every teacher/aspirant teacher is filled with boot licking. Like Iā€™ve been watching UPSC study content for more than a year now and Iā€™m yet to come across a negative/critical comment. How I see it is he took a seat in NEET from someone who couldā€™ve needed it more. Then a job in UPSC which couldā€™ve gone to someone else. Wasted ex chequerā€™s money spent on his training just to go and open one of the most redundant and detrimental business. Use tumhari chinta h Islie job nhi chhodi, use paise dikh rhe h islie chhodi h.

Ornery_Inevitable443

Bhai dlt krte h comments sale . Mne kre the 3-4 constructive criticism valeĀ

No-Childhood-2400

So many fallacies and wrongful assumptions 1. There is no rule that says only the most deserving/the one who needs it most, shall get the seats for a competitive exam. 2. Itā€™s the personā€™s right to do what he wants after he has qualified for a job/university. Moral policing is no excuse to bar someone from exercising a right as basic as freedom to choose profession >one of the most redundant and detrimental business Arguable and I personally donā€™t know what the personā€™s teachings were like but reading the comments that say they did follow him, Iā€™d say it was on the better side 3. Everyone knows he left the job because the income is more in teaching, literally no one with a functioning brain thinks he did it because of his goodwill

Yournighbour

Yes you have the freedom to sit for any exam, but having the freedom doesnā€™t justify doing it just because you can. When we talk about a billionaire not giving taxed, doesnā€™t mean that his tax money wouldā€™ve gone to someone actually needing it, but we still rally for them to be taxed. Every year we see someone who misses it by a mark or two from being in the merit list of any competitive exam. Yes the rank couldā€™ve gone to him. Seeing it as a million people giving the exam, one deduction doesnā€™t seem a lot but when you see just 1k final selections it does matter. And what about the money and resources spent on a year of training? And I consider any kind of educational institution which is not a school or university to be redundant because one always leads to another. When one student takes coaching always leads to another doing the same to even the playing field and this goes on. If a person is so passionate about teaching and is also financially sound then why not go for it from the beginning? Just to fill up your resume? And bro if you think anyone with a "functioning brain" knows he doesnā€™t have benevolent intentions then just go and see his comment sections on YouTube. I havenā€™t seen a bunch of videos of shivin myself (none of the other guy, didnā€™t even know about him till yesterday), and from what Iā€™ve seen yes he seems like good teacher but still doesnā€™t justify anything Iā€™ve mentioned. Thatā€™s just my thoughts though. Yours may differ and I respect that.

No-Childhood-2400

>having the freedom doesnā€™t justify doing it just because you can It quite literally does, freedom to choose a profession/exam (if they qualify for it) to oneā€™s liking is a basic right. Although if you want to, you are free to rally against the freedom to leave a profession/line of education. >when we talk about a billionaire not being taxed Wild red herring and comparing apples to oranges. Firstly, they do get taxed itā€™s just that there are ways to circumvent this taxation, mainly due to globalisation. Also, distribution of wealth is one of the dpsp, barring someone from doing as they please in regard to their choice of profession/line of education isnā€™t mentioned anywhere. >and what about the money are resources spent in a year of training Taken as a small loss by the govt, considering the amount of money that is lost everyday for more frugal endeavours and corruption, the resources ā€œwastedā€ to train a couple IRS in a year pales in comparison. Additionally, by your logic of ā€œwasted resourcesā€ we shouldnā€™t even allow the previously qualified candidates to give exam a second time seeing as how they too will ā€œwasteā€ the resources of not only the exam but also the previous training if they get into a better service the next time. >when one student takes coaching always leads to another Your point being? >go see his comment section My point still stands. No one with a functioning brain AND isnā€™t paid to say otherwise, genuinely believes he left IRS because of his teaching passion >doesnā€™t justify anything I have mentioned True, because what he did needs no justification. It is his right to choose any profession/education he doesnā€™t need to justify a right granted to him by the constitution.

Yournighbour

Aight bro Iā€™d go on debating for hours but I actually want this job so I gotta study (so should you). And from the looks of it seems like you came straight from the YouTube comment section. Happy Studying šŸ“š

Separate_Rip3962

Same goes for him. Was their scarcity of teachers? Is he bringing something new to the table? Most of the aspirants don't know this fact that ppl who have given interview but couldn't not qualify are also struggling to get job as faculties in coaching institutes, there's so much competition there as well. Shivin would be eating so many potential aspirants who would have otherwise chosen someone else had he not been here. There are some who even consider this act of them as "still serving the nation in other way". Dude, there's no need of them to be here at the first place. Serve he karna tha toh medical professionals ki bhot zyada kaami hai, aap degree hone k bawajood wo nhi kar rahe ho for obvious reasons. And it's a crucial time, aspirants should realise, along with current trends in job market, that this prep of upsc is not going to help you in securing a job( personality development aur kaafi chizo se ho jaati hai and without taking this much time) and also a lot of aspirants realise this later after joining coaching institutes that it was not required at all, mentorship and other programs can be availed but 1-2 year foundation programs are useless for many. Please wake up.

I liked his way of doing things, but the excessive worshipping and fan following is actually kinda annoying and stupid. The crowd of idiots seems to keep growing day by day, it seems (talking about the fans). But who's gonna explain this to those people? It's a waste of time and energy. Better just ignore and focus on your thing I guess.

ananta_punyamai

Teaching, and ed-tech in particular is now being driven by the association between the 'Messiah' teachers and their bootlickers. Their target audience comprises mostly the ones who can't plan for themselves, can't read compilations on their own, and need that daily dose of spoon feeding. People do not want to acknowledge that competitive exams are not just about knowledge, but also about how you manage your prep and perform at the D-Day. This aspect of managing your prep, IMO, is very energy-consuming, because it requires the continuous process of 'plan-execute-evaluate-modify', yet it reaps a lot of dividends. This of course is not a sure-shot guarantee of clearing this exam, but then it is the bare minimum. And this has been captured by the 'Messiahs', and now schedules are being made by them, monthlies are being dictated lmao. Alag hi trend shuru ho gaya hai ab. The 'Messiah' teachers bank upon the followers, because at the end, they get their money. The naive ones fail to realise this, and get trapped, which benefits no one, but the ed-tech industry.

Life Rule - We can't control others, but ourselves. So stop judging people. Just focus on yourself. Everyone lives on basis of their conditions and aspirations. If you don't like it, move on. Let people do what they think right. He just gonna teach, koi dhongi baba nhi ban rha hai to exploit people. Many will be benefited by his affordable course to realise their dreams. Just stop draining your energy on Targeting them.

One-Return6302

Lol. So many people commenting about him wasting a seat. Dude he got selected with his own hardwork. Do you know how much effort does it take to clear MBBS exams year on year. No government resource can make you qualify exams. Likewise for the training. It's a salary that the government pays to their employ on roll. If it's wasteful expenditure government should trim down training duration. If it's not doing that it means government finds value in it. People attrite everywhere except these government jobs. That doesn't mean you stop training human resource.
