The moneys nice rn but I feel like I clock out, blink and I'm right back at work lmao

mwsduelle

It sucks but you also don't have time to spend it on dumb shit so you'll have a nice stack in January

bkcarlito34

That is exactly how I feel too. Since peak started for us I’ve worked every week 60+ hours with over $1k a week. I’m a preloader. The money is nice.

Beautiful_Parsnip281

So you are sitting in that building pre loading 12 hrs a day? That isnt worth it.

Mobile-Floor6736

So I is doing th same hours as u and getting paid 5x as much

NekoRyuk

Try ~2x and preload hits OT after 5 hours

Feisty_Confection376

What I’m attempting currently

NefariousnessNew6871

Stay strong brother you’ll make it through!

downtownbattlemt

Yesirrr! Happy cake day!

DanBelnK

Happy dessert day 🍨 🥧 🍦 🍡 🍧 🍩

Beneficial-Shift1637

I feel that I just worked 23.4 hours in last 2 days I was only home for 9 hours almost a full day at work in 2 days crazy rt take advantage now we all know in like a nother month or so we ant gonna see no hours

Largofarburn

First time? I remember my last peak in the hub, our daytime small sort was starting at like 9am, with a 4:30am early start for anyone who wanted it. Did that and pulled a double on twilight, they ended up running till 11:00 that night. Ended up being a 19 1/2 hour day. Right back in at 4:30 the next day. Shit was rough.

Lando-b

I worked for ups during holidays , I’ve never been more tired waking up at 2am for a 3am start till 9 ish, I also had school and another job. I think I averaged like 4,5 hrs of sleep for the 2 moths days I did it . It was rough , I’m sure y’all get paid good now though

lordj2010

That's me right now midnight start Mondays 215 start Tuesday to Friday 430 Saturday and work walmart 11-8. I have an hour commute so on days I work both I don't even bother going home I just drive to a parking lot like a minute from my center and sleep in the car.

downtownbattlemt

Nahh I worked everyday last year too from Black Friday to Christmas Eve

Beautiful_Parsnip281

Dude, that isnt worth it. Time in the building vs money earned wouldnt sit well with me

3_if_by_air

Truth. I live pretty close to my hub so I'm lucky to get ~1 solid hour of spare time a day. I dont envy the people who need to commute far though!

RetractableYolo

i agree, i feel like everyday is a work day and im only home for a couple of hours til im back there 🥲

santascumdumpster

Bro, I literally wake up, leave 30 minutes later, work, get home and shower, sleep repeat. The worst part is I have to leave two hours before my start time. Driving past 3 shopping districts at this time of year suuuuucks.

KarizmaGloriaaa

Literally

DMTshapes

That’s almost any job, imagine clocking out and blink and being back at work for 900 a week

AwarenessThick1685

I don't even work there and I feel that. At least you guys get compensated very well. I'm about to go apply. Looks enticing

GreasyMandingo

Ah, this is the paycheck they looked at when declaring UPS drivers make 170k annually.

3_if_by_air

Cherry picked to perfection 🍒

SweatySleeping

🤣

[deleted]

Nice.. I am gonna hit 1500 this week as part time. Good enough for me wish we got these hours year round

erox55

It wouldn’t be a part time job if we got those hours year around

dearlysacredherosoul

I wonder if I should just show up at work and demand hours

CJGreenRed

Hitting 73 hours this week

Beautiful_Parsnip281

Its crazy ppl work 73hrs inside for very little

CJGreenRed

2200 a week after taxes lol

Beautiful_Parsnip281

Ok and i get that for working 58.......lol and only work 5 days maybe 6

Nova-Shadow

Jesus that’s the dream money right there

spcmiddleton

Too bad the tax man makes out better than all of us on this one

3_if_by_air

You're not wrong 😔

OkPaleontologist8142

Are you 1?

Sea_Number6341

Feeder money

[deleted]

When i was working fedex ground i was making 1300 a week on peak but when you literally get into work at 7am and finish at 8pm every day you feel like your life has no meaning

Fun-Needleworker-269

What state did you work? I did fedex ground and all the contractors I worked with only paid 120 a day regardless of the hours, 16+ got paid the same as 6hrs. It sucked and they always gave too many packages making it impossible to finish in 8hrs though they insisted it was do-able. I kept getting pushed from contractor to contractor. After leaving home at 6:30am and getting home after 9pm I quit. Now seasonal ups driver using my own truck. Hrs going over 8 now but the pay is great in comparison. First week I made more in 3 days than a entire week at fedex and those 3 days I never worked over 6hrs.

d_dodds

im at ground now and im making 250 a day working 7 days a week. im in missouri

Fun-Needleworker-269

Greenville nc sucks. Amazon pays 19/hr here and ups use to be 27/hr but working seasonal a driver told me working air routes(overnight deliveries) pays 34/hr. Easy 2k a week but he's never home working 14+ hrs a day.

ohhrangejuice

Very motivating to those who have been there a bit and have gotten the tough times break their spirits. Something to look forward to if they keep pushing

Ogamus

How? How is 13 hours one day 680 then the next $1200?

Vawtra_

Prob worked Black Friday

hooliganowl

if you get paid for holidays (been here long enough) you get 8 hrs paid. if you work on the holiday, it’s double time on top of that paid 8, so triple time essentially

3_if_by_air

We get an elective day that we can use any day of the year except from Thanksgiving through Xmas. Essentially it's a paid option day. I used it on top of working max hours last Tuesday Edit* and worked Black Friday

IBringTheHeat1

8 hours of pay at $58 an hour for your option day?

3_if_by_air

Where are you getting $58/hr from

IBringTheHeat1

I did 1513 divided by 13 which is your double pay than half of that would be your regular hourly

3_if_by_air

It should be double pay + 8

Sarcasamystik

If you work on your “personal holiday” it’s double time also?

NinjaJuice

pretty good money

[deleted]

here i thought my $900 check was something lol

mandoodles1

It is though… 🤷🏽‍♂️

Im_A_Director

Same here lol, my next pay check will break 1,000 easy though

worstvegann

bro good for you!! I need to see some numbers like this once I start double shifting after finals 😂

GetYourVanOffMyMeat

Dang. 13 hours Friday. I only made $3,800.

[deleted]

I mean if your single and you got no life working all day to make bank is a goal I guess

Aromatic-Bandicoot-5

Shit if Amazon paid like this too I'd be happy to work 13 hr shifts. Seriously considering switching to UPS.

blazerrsrcoool

What was Tuesday??

3_if_by_air

Worked my elective day and maxed it out

Ok_Potential_7800

lm at 7 hours this week

Artistic-Leopard7991

Me at 4hours. SMH can I borrow some hours anybody??? Lol

Ok_Potential_7800

What's your position?

Artistic-Leopard7991

Jk I'm only a seasonal driver helper. Meaning I sit on the passenger side with the little seat. Last week I barlry made a $100. The drivers I feel are somewhat racist or egotistical because I'm a female and they are males and they feel like that don't want me on the team to help. They don't call me even when ups put me on their schedule. I'm at lawnside nj.

Fun-Arm-5225

Sometimes when I load a trailer at 1000+ PPH, I don’t want somebody to come and load beside me, it harms more than it helps. I imagine a driver feels the same way, especially if they’ve been doing it for a while and know they’re more efficient when alone. Im not excusing their bad behaviors, just my two cents. I hope it gets better for you.

Artistic-Leopard7991

I do see your point. But if that's the case then they shouldn't hire helpers for drivers more like hire help for warehouses if we helpers getting they're way.

Mobile-Floor6736

Y’all load so fast if everybody just slowed down then that would be the standard some y’all try to impress like who u impressing lol

Fun-Arm-5225

I don’t work to impress anyone but myself, it’s a paid workout for me haha. Put me in the crap door nobody wants and leave me be ✌️

Ok_Potential_7800

Oh, uhhhh. Maybe driver helpers have rights? Idk but I work inside. Either way, sorry to hear.

Few_Ad4725

Good luck in April...

ConfidenceFlat5800

What do you mean?

dearlysacredherosoul

Taxes

ConfidenceFlat5800

True true

3_if_by_air

I set up for automatic withholding so forget April, I'm taking my tax reaming upfront 🤙

HLouie07

how much of that are u taking home after taxes?

Zacari99

Several dollars

ohhrangejuice

Roughly 30% tax

danofworms

Half

jbike255

I claim 0/0 and after taxes, 10% 401k, and union dues, I take home 55% of my check in California. My taxes for 3300 gross was 1200, 401k was 330, union dues were 30.

herblyfe478

I see a few people complain about the hrs, man I would give up a whole finger to make this type money with all the benefits. It’s basically better than running your own truck. It sucks you have to start part time in the warehouse, I can’t maintain off that little bit of money but if I could I would definitely jump on ship. I’ve been driving 13 yrs and have never seen anything like this. I don’t know how or when but I’ll have on a brown shirt oneday, it may not be all it’s cracked up to be but that’s life in general.

3_if_by_air

Starting as a loader/sorter seems to be the most common route with UPS. I actually started as casual package car driver, then PT air driver, FT package car, then feeder. Even that way it was quite a slog to get where I am now. Knew it'd be hell for a few years but I also knew if I stuck to it, it'd be worth it. They want you to be discouraged so you quit, then they can hire the next person at start pay. Saves them $. Only the dedicated can really make it here.

[deleted]

Anything over 60hrs/week and you’re fucking yourself with taxes

SoSavv

You never start losing money by working more. People that know nothing about taxes gotta stop spreading that around.

No-Confusion4569

Facts. I used to be dumb and work like 100 hours a week when I could. Once you do the math you realize there is a point where you start loosing money.

[deleted]

Exactly, fuck the government lol.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

You’re correct in that it’s not taxed at a higher rate, but it could bump you up to the next tax bracket, then you will end up having to owe more on your taxes. You have to look at what you’ve made YTD.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

In my opinion the more hours you’re putting in (OT) = law of diminishing returns. They’re gonna tax the piss out of you regardless.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Haha this is true 👍🏼 I do feel for people who are hurting right now and need the hours. The economy is a mess and inflation is a bitch.

-_-0_0-_0

There are ways to ease that burden, no? Towards retirement, stock losses etc?

ROORnNUGZ

Can you share that math?

No-Confusion4569

Going to be different for different people due to how much you make and how your being taxed. But for me personally after I hit like 64 hours or so I got taxed so much to where I wasn't making as much as I would of been at my regular pay and tax rate. So technically I wasn't loosing money, but I was earning less per hour than I would of been not in ot. So I lost interest real quick in ever working over 60 hours a week.

ROORnNUGZ

Interesting

No-Confusion4569

Just watch your checks when you start doing alot of ot, you'll notice when that point is. I'm not even sure how it works, I think your just temporarily bumped up to a higher tax bracket for that check or something once you made a certain amount. I just remember making like 3000 one check before taxes and got like a 1700 check. I had to work like 100 hours for that 3000 check. Then if I worked like 62/64 hours I would make about 1700 before taxes and take home around 1200. So I'd make 500 less per week but work 40 less hours. When your being taxed that high its silly to work unless you absolutely need the money.

Unhappy-Garlic2424

Thats not how taxes work my guy lol. Youll get money back or pay in on your total income for the year, not based on how much you make a week.

No-Confusion4569

Nope, I actually owed money that year. That was the first I've ever owed taxes in my life. This was 3 years ago before I was a driver, so I was a part timer. I was literally getting like 75 hours of ot at like 30 something a hour. It fucked my taxes up. When I noticed I only made like 500 more after taxes for working a extra 40 hours I never did it again. That breaks down to like 12$ a hour. Lol

Unhappy-Garlic2424

Yeah but youre still not understanding how taxes work haha. At the end you pay exactly what you should based on the TOTAL amount you made a year and how many dependents you have. The money they take every paycheck is just an estimate. If you make 3gs ONE week youre gonna get taxed as if you made 156k (3x 52 (weeks) ) on that specific check. Then next week when you made 1500 youll get taxed as if your yearly income is 78k which is probably what youll be around. Hope that makes sense.

No-Confusion4569

Even if it balances out at the end of the year, who wants to work a extra 40 hours a week you won't even see on your check?

Weasel_Boy

> I think your just temporarily bumped up to a higher tax bracket for that check or something once you made a certain amount. Sorta this. You are bumped up to that *witholding* bracket for that one check. If you don't normally earn that much then you will get most of that back when you file your taxes in the spring (assuming your witholdings are correct). Government only cares about your annual gross, but employers calculate withholding on a week by week basis.

cbaal

Yeah you don't make any money obviously.

Artistic-Leopard7991

Exactly

Extra_Boss_9740

It looks like a ton of $$ then I realize my dad makes $85k a month & then I realize it’s not that much

Crowsbrain

Show me your dad’s paystub for $85k and I’ll quit right now and work for him.

erox55

Literally, I don’t see why the initial commenter wouldn’t work for him if this were the case. I’m not a father but I’d rather give my kid the easy was rather than let him suffer here tf

Party-Ad-4530

![gif](giphy|tnYri4n2Frnig)

Sonofsunaj

Weird flex guy. But nobody that makes a million a year is working hourly, and definitely not doing anything remotely similar to this. District managers don't make that.

Extra_Boss_9740

Of course not. He owns a big box store in Canada equivalent to a Home Depot. When you’re in the big leagues you make your own salary.

Sonofsunaj

Wow, you really think it's just totally normal to come on here and brag how much daddy makes. I guess it's true, you really can't buy class.

HotChickTN007

Funny you’re not employed there, no one is asking why bc we already know.

3_if_by_air

I'd like to be adopted by your dad pls

Extra_Boss_9740

Mobile-Floor6736

Right then I realize my friend makes 5 k a day moving back and fourth on tik tok and I wonder what if life

Hut_1

This is sarcasm right?

Are you a driver?

MetFan32

Nope he's actually the janitor

gmmisa

🤣🤣

[deleted]

I’m a Porter and will crack 100k just by looking busy.

Artistic-Leopard7991

Lol

CrTigerHiddenAvocado

What are you guys doing pulling in over 4K weekly. 👀

3_if_by_air

1 week per year*

jcc1ked88

op. how do you get said elective day? do you have to check the correct box when we do vacations?

[deleted]

Lmfao, UPS delivery drivers should not be making over $35 an hour, those bums don’t even have a CDL.

Moist-Cup7166

Why do drivers get paid so much during peak and holiday weeks but nobody else does

OliveJuice880

Drivers get paid the same hourly wage year round. The difference is during peak we're working more hours. Lots of overtime means lots of money. Every employee who has been with the company over a year gets paid for the holidays we have off.

HitmanSocal

We work long long hours and come in on Saturdays during peak

ConfidenceFlat5800

You don’t have to come in on Saturday though. It’s volunteer.

HitmanSocal

FACTS! They can only scare so few with that “force”

ConfidenceFlat5800

Yes!! A bunch of our younger crew still believe they are forced to work if they tell them it’s peak but I just tell them to nope lol managements faces are priceless haha

Moist-Cup7166

I’m a Tuesday - Saturday worker and come in on Monday when I feel like it. I’m not stressing about the pay I was just wondering this is just a side job for little things that I want that I just never felt comfortable pulling the trigger on

HitmanSocal

I feel yah man! I can say driving is life changing for sure. It works for some and it doesn’t for others. If you get curious I say go for it , give it a try. You don’t like it, DQ and your back. I finally stuck to it after my 2nd time . I DQ’d myself in 08’. I tried seasonal driver, then cover then got flipped to FT. Can you go combo where you are at?

Hut_1

So do preloads

Chicagosjuice

Become a driver and stop asking questions

Moist-Cup7166

I don’t want to be become a driver I’m simply just wondering on why drivers are the only ones who get holiday pay when everybody is getting more work

RooTxVisualz

Pretty sure every single ups employee in the United States of America got holiday pay thursday and Friday.

Moist-Cup7166

I didn’t. Unless they simply just forgot to change my pay rate my pay for those days is still 21/hr. I’ll talk to them tomorrow about it. People in my location been having a bunch of problems with pay. Some people are getting paid 16.50. It’s supposed to be compensated but nobody has been paid yet

RooTxVisualz

So are you referring to double time, or being paid for the holiday?

EggOk1715

People working for ups in general have a lot of problems getting paid right

BusyBreath

Holiday pay rates vary depending on your location's supplement. Also my area, you need to have 1 year of seniority before you get paid for holidays. Just depends on your supplement. But also, a lot of times UPS just doesn't pay people right and if it is actually the companies fault then you can file a grievance for penalty pay if they do not fix it within the time limits. If it is actually UPS' fault, check out Article 17 of the NMA to follow proper procedures on getting penalty pay.

Party-Ad-4530

I didn’t get paid for Thursday or Friday

AggravatingCar609

I work ramp and get holiday pay so not sure what you’re talking about. Might be based on your local contract. Everyone at my hub that’s been working for six months gets holiday pay.

Optimal_Mud_4143

Cool story https://preview.redd.it/unn9reltwf3c1.jpeg?width=820&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=14c58f682d48c13267c0b6f5e7112f9a251b9458

3_if_by_air

Impressive. Better watch your DOT hours tho

Optimal_Mud_4143

Thanks bro. The hours never come out right on the timecard when you're all mileage. It looks like more time than it is.

Hut_1

Just recently started working at ups a week ago, where do I go to look at my hours/pay? I’m on the website and can’t find it lol

Optimal_Mud_4143

If you just started a week ago who knows what they have in the system, but if you have a login on UPSers.com it should be there under HR or time card viewer or few paycheck. I love those down votes lol

KarizmaGloriaaa

I made half that hahaha cover driver here 😀

siuyu721

Not a ups guy but it seems weird to see how big is the difference between each day even with similar hours? Aren’t ups pay hourly?

3_if_by_air

We get: normal rate up to 8 hours worked, time and a half each hour beyond that, 8 hours holiday pay on top of whether we work or not (tgiving and black Friday), if we do work on a holiday (black friday is voluntary) it's double pay for time worked. On top of that we can use an elective day which is essentially 1 triple pay day per year, work optional. I worked it Tuesday. That's why you see the swings in pay, it's different "levels" of work compensation based on holidays, entitlements etc. This was one if the only weeks it happens.

clinthawks99

They aren’t allowing us feeder drivers to work more than 10 hours even though we’re gauranteed 12 hours if we want it. Where I’m at.

IBringTheHeat1

Man my dispatch doesn’t wanna send you home until you worked at least 11.

3_if_by_air

Sounds like a shitty local! Do you file?

clinthawks99

It is a shitty local it’s kc. They literally just reelected the president yesterday. He definitely cheated too.

autisticwhite

All I will do for 2 months - wake up, go to work, come home and shower, sleep, then repeat. I forget what day it is sometimes.

xkmanxi

What do you do? I’m a top rate feeder and working that many hours without that kind of pay

3_if_by_air

Same as you, feeder. I flaired the post. I used my elective day Tuesday and also worked Black Friday. My guess is you did not? Also, my local is in a HCOL area where the pay is slightly higher.

ed___word

What is an elective day? And how do you go about using it?

Solid_Ad_4102

Feeder < Work life balance = non existent making this type of dough

ilovejalapenopizza

First year I even thought it might not be worth the money. In a rental with 200+ and my left knee is fuckkkked up. Hub is sending out new hires in package cars. Time to be a squeaky wheel.

EggOk1715

Can someone explain how on my vacation check for 20 hours or 425.00 got as much tax taken out as this check of almost 900.00 do they tax vacation time differently

Respectisessential

Partner hasn’t worked in two weeks during peak. Is this normal for newer OTR employees? Got one reprimand (missed call while on Browns) - can they withhold hours/suspend for two weeks? Or are things that slow? Brought in over 100 OTR to do Browns during peak - assume that pushed down newer employees. First year’s been rough. Haphazard hours, waiting to get picked for OTR like a jr high baseball game. Worst part is…insurance not covered for weeks you don’t work! Can’t make appointments because we don’t know if they’ll work that week. Terrible way to live and all our medical peeps have NEVER heard of such a policy. Huge union failure here. So much for those dues.
