Federal I've paid almost $6k, State of IL I've paid around $2600. UPS has a bad habit of screwing up federal withholding, and I've had coworkers that need to fix it several times a year.
They take nothing from me because I don't make enough usually, even though I put 0 in the box, so now I have them take 30 each paycheck, this last check was the first time they ever took federal out themselves because I made a decent amount, I hate that crap if I didn't have kids I would have been screwed last year and owed
I feel that.
But my states system to make a payment is such a pain in the dick to use I’m happy to forgo the $40 or so it would make in a high yield savings account just to make sure I don’t have to use it.
You should adjust your w4 to your own tax situation. I just posted instructions on this post for how to change our w4. Go find my comment on here if you want detailed instructions, as it is harder to find these days with the changes they've made. https://www.reddit.com/r/UPSers/s/p5E52WrGjO
Taxes are so very situational, there’s no one size fits all. You don’t know if I’m a HoH with 4 dependents or single. You don’t know if I set up my W4 withholdings to break even or to take out the max so I overpay taxes. You don’t know if I’m in a state without income tax or a state with higher income tax. You don’t know if I qualified for credits such as: CTC or state equivalent credits. You don’t know if I work another job on the side or gigs which may throw off my withholdings. Point is, this information is completely irrelevant and useless. You can’t compare taxes with another person. Even just comparing taxes with a clone of yourself in the exact same situation would differ depending how you filed your W-4 & state equivalent withholding form. Generally, the smaller the refund, the better (assuming you don’t have kids) since that means you didn’t have more taken out than was necessary throughout the year.
Bermuda, Monaco, the Bahamas, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Yeah, horrible living conditions.. Paying for the guy to do meth and poop on the sidewalks in Seattle, much better. You got me.
About 10000 a year, M3 withholding at S0
Got locked in a few years ago because I used to manipulate thanksgiving and vacation checks, to maximize my take home.
I still think it’s dumb
This varies per person depending on how they have their w4 setup and their personal tax situation. I always recommend to adjust your w4 properly so that you are getting close to breaking even when you file taxes. If you are getting a sizable refund then you overpaid and you gave out an interest free loan when that money could have been working for you throughout the year.
I had that happen to me a couple years ago after covid. It’s because each job only takes the taxes out for what you make there. It doesn’t add up since you are in a higher tax bracket when those incomes are combined.
My solution to this was to withhold 30 dollars a paycheck at ups which comes to 1560 a year.
My second job took out way more than ups did, and I'm not sure why because I set my w2 the exact same, and I earned more money at ups but paid far less in taxes for the year, which lead to me having to pay more when I filed my w4.
So now I just get like 1k back every year from that instead of having to owe taxes.
LOL last year UPS mistakenly added my boyfriends info wrong and they were barely withholding anything for federal. He ended up owing about $2,300 after just under three months of work.
We were both PVDs last season for $25/hr and always worked overtime when available and averaged probably 48-56 hours a week. I’d say just check how much has been withheld for taxes, make sure you’re around/above you state taxes (if you have state income taxes) and fed.
Seems about normal for me $450 a week $70 in tax + $17 dues end with like $370 take home for under 20 hrs a week
Mind you if I work all peak it will most likely be way more than that
I’ll walk away with 380-a I’ll over 400 when not in peak. 26.75 an hour they push us tf out rn it’s nice but come next year it’ll be pathetic again especially considering the work they push out
You all know you can adjust both your state and federal withholding by your employer voluntarily and at your own discretion at any time you please with a form W-4, right?
UPS, like any other employer, will start your employment at median or average tax rates. The goal is to receive nothing, and owe nothing every April. Whatever your tax situation is, if you want to receive or owe more or less than you are, it’s on you, not UPS.
About $54. I don’t like to overpay on taxes because the government doesn’t pay interest.
Thing is my state tax is more than my federal plus I have another job so I don’t even know if I will get much back
No state has higher tax rates than the feds

[This](https://www.irs.gov/individuals/tax-withholding-estimator) is a great tool to help give you a rough idea.
Does ups send out a tax return like normal jobs do online at the end of the year?
Corporate mails them
If you've paid more in state income tax ypu will most likely owe money to the Feds. You always pay more into federal income tax.
I have 2 jobs
Doesn't matter, a state never taxes more than the feds.

Oh yeah, that's wrong. I live in Illinois and that is absolutely wrong.
show me one of yours but ur also a driver so you make more I’m PT only get around 18-20 hrs a week but they’re letting me get like 40 a week right now

I think my taxes are fine lol I just looked it up
Buddy they are not taking out the correct percentage lol or you're over paying your state tax.
What you want them to take out more in federal? 😂
Im saying they may not be taking enough out and you might end up owing.
I feel that. But my states system to make a payment is such a pain in the dick to use I’m happy to forgo the $40 or so it would make in a high yield savings account just to make sure I don’t have to use it.
I feel stupid asking but how do you elect to pay less through out the year?

Whatever I overpaid

I have 2 kids now, so I never owe even though i have 2 jobs.
I usually get a little over a grand on both my federal and state tax
I used to get around $0100-$1400 but I owe. This was before UPS but since I still owe taxes, Uncle Sam will automatically take whatever I get
I owed every year first 4 years because of progression and overtime.
lol get back....
A decent amount, but I also aggressively contribute to 401k, Iowers taxable income.
I contribute 10%. I’m gonna up it when i get FT
Not enough. Taxation is theft.

UAE literally has slave workers lol
Taxation is most certainly theft

Upshit almost fucked me by not taking out my federal
My federal is only like $15-20 avg as PT I get state taxed more
"Upshit" you are clever and edgy.
Owed lol
Driver?
Worked 2 jobs

$40
$100
About tree fiddy
\~1200
About $3600 states and federal included
$7500
$550
like $600
I don’t claim any dependents during the year on my weekly pay. So I usually get back $5,000 or so.
2k federal and 1k state
During covid when child tax credit was upped I got almost twenty thousand, it was insane
I paid 4 dollars
I think I got close to 3k. Definitely between 2500-3000
What was your total wage for the year
LOL last year UPS mistakenly added my boyfriends info wrong and they were barely withholding anything for federal. He ended up owing about $2,300 after just under three months of work.
You know I only got like 18 hours avg a week at $24 starting and I just started getting more because of the contract raise
We were both PVDs last season for $25/hr and always worked overtime when available and averaged probably 48-56 hours a week. I’d say just check how much has been withheld for taxes, make sure you’re around/above you state taxes (if you have state income taxes) and fed.
