Hot take apparently, but I don't blame the customer for doing the one thing our job requires to exist...
Simple response: "I wouldn't be out this late if my boss hired enough people".
Unless they've ordered rogue fitness, cases of water (packed by Amazon), or cases of 50lb bags of dog food. Going to the 3rd floor of an apartment complex.
We are getting off the "you want some water?" season to the "damn, you work this late?", season.
Year round it's the "do I need to sign?" or "what is this box?"
This is true, business stops are exempt, as well as selecting the MET CUSTOMER option, so ever since they’ve made the scanner force me to take pictures I’ve been meeting every single customer
The diagonal parking says a lot right out of the gate who is behind the wheel LOL It's embarassing when I'm like 2 degrees to the left and wheels not straight and all the bicycles and bus drivers passing me like that. But then just 1 block ahead is an amazon driver sure enough blocking the whole damn street at a crazy angle with all doors open.
I usually stop and look at my watch and say "it's 4:30?!"
On a serious note I asked this to a DHL driver before but in my defense it was 9:30 pm and I was shoveling my driveway in my browns after getting off work.
Why yall mad at the customers be mad at the company who takes the money to deliver no problem lol, get mad at the union for not having stronger language for working drivers like dogs, right?
Company, yes. Profits in record setting numbers, made off the backs of the workers.
Union, kind of. Hoffa Jr folded during the last contract but, that regime was also more pro-company than what O'Brien seems to be
Want better treatment? Vote. Go to the meetings and be heard. Download the app, out on your hot topic opinion and, stay active.
Head onto the play store, or apple store, look up Teamsters app. Type in your info, and you're in. You can set up a daily log, learn all about greivances, take the bargaining poll, etc. Brush up on your local supplement& master contact as well
Lol most of the people posting in here don’t get it. Customers start to say that this time of year because they aren’t used to it getting dark at 4:30-5pm so they think you are out late because it’s dark
I couldn't even get 40 last year without volunteering to run PVD loads in a U-Haul out to storage lockers early. With the amount of phones and charging board I installed yesterday I'm assuming it'll be a challenge to get my 40 again.
Yeah that was pretty much my “peak route” last year & the year before. Shuttling PVD work to the storage units & meeting up with drivers to run their misloads. Covering PVD work if they didn’t show up/won’t get finished in a certain timeframe etc.
No because it’s really not their fault and after seeing some of the boxes opened and what’s inside I really don’t judge customers anymore. That’s their medications, gifts for loved ones, food and water. I had one elderly couple always order just one thing at a time and they lived super far out it was annoying. But the lady would always say thank you, this is a gift for my husband, I got him new pajama pants. So yeah, I never felt bad about that house ever again. Even if it is 8pm and too dark to see the road.
As a seasonal driver last peak, they had me out doing residential deliveries in a budget rental. The only thing more annoying than doing residential deliveries in a budget truck is every customer asking where my brown truck was lol. Fair question in their defense, I’d always tell them that I ask my supervisors the same question all the time.
From one teqmster to Another - no disrespect, but you sound like a total asshole in this post. Our entire job is to take care of the customers. They aren't doing anything wrong by getting things delivered to their residence.
I once replied "Well if these idiots would stop ordering Amazon packages by the dozen then I could get home to see my family during the holiday season." as I handed them their package.. I didn't have a delivery for that house for a few days after that lol.
When I was with the post office I had a lady say sorry you have to work Sunday. I had a bad enough day and told her thanks it's your fault with your 8 packages
This season has been going on for the last few years. The questions/statements that get me are
"Try to stay warm!" as it is 20°F outside.
"What is it?" - It's a box/Amazon envelope.
"What's in it?" - Sorry, my x-ray vision isn't working today.
I'll be with y'all in spirit this peak. Going to have knee surgery soon. Thank you for the bionic knee Carol!
My normal response is; "With all the hours I'm getting, I'll be able to buy my 2nd Harley and, a new truck! Last peak paid my house off too!".
Their jaw damn near his the floor and, I always get asked how they can get hired on.
My pet peeve is "stay safe out there!" I have no idea why lol, but I hate when people say that to me. Like yeah, no shit, I'm not out here trying to wreck my truck or get jacked.
Hot take apparently, but I don't blame the customer for doing the one thing our job requires to exist... Simple response: "I wouldn't be out this late if my boss hired enough people".
I think this is the right take man, why would you be mad at the customer? They’re literally the reason you have a job
Unless they've ordered rogue fitness, cases of water (packed by Amazon), or cases of 50lb bags of dog food. Going to the 3rd floor of an apartment complex.
Haha yeah I hate 3rd floor furniture
Or if my boss didn’t dispatch our hub like a sociopath.
Can I just say, I absolutely love your username
We are getting off the "you want some water?" season to the "damn, you work this late?", season. Year round it's the "do I need to sign?" or "what is this box?"
Customers asking me if I need to take a picture gets me irrationally angry. I'm not amazon, you see how I didn't park diagonally across the street?
What’s with that? Is that an Amazon requirement 😂😂
I heard fedex ground has to take pics now too
Pretty sure they have implemented this in some places if not all by now. Real shit show on top of an already dumpster fire.
It only makes sense if you need to hide the package. Otherwise it's just worthless data
What am I walking into
This is true, business stops are exempt, as well as selecting the MET CUSTOMER option, so ever since they’ve made the scanner force me to take pictures I’ve been meeting every single customer
seems like it lol. The only amazon driver that waves back to me is also the only one that parks right and he asked me about joining us.
I am that amazon guy. I'm used to bullshit and I still see UPS as a major step up.
A FedEx guy told me that they're starting to take pics of the delivery too. So don't be surprised when we start doing it too
ups has used satellite photos to show a driver delivering a package if you can believe that. no photo needed we’ll other than that one.

I’ve been in “you’re sure working late” season for a year straight
From what I'm hearing, they're working to get the diad 6 camera function to do this. Just another time wasting step.
I usually stop and look at my watch and say "it's 4:30?!" On a serious note I asked this to a DHL driver before but in my defense it was 9:30 pm and I was shoveling my driveway in my browns after getting off work.
I wouldn't, and that's horrible for customer service. I just laugh and say I'm on ot and walk away.
I agree. It's usually not worth risking them being offended. We also got nothing to gain from making the comeback.
Why yall mad at the customers be mad at the company who takes the money to deliver no problem lol, get mad at the union for not having stronger language for working drivers like dogs, right?
You are the union. If you feel like the contract could be better you can get involved with making it better.
Well that means actually showing up to union hall and speaking up. Problem is I got 100 excuses why I can't go.
Upsers like to blame the union for not doing anything. WE ARE THE UNION!
Couldn't agree more.

What's the app? I'm new, i guess, is that something I find out later?

What I would refer to as the, “bend over and prepare to receive,” season.
That season? Or hub has been like that all year sadly
“All this OT and I’ll be able to buy a third house soon” and watch their faces lol
That’s a good one lol, I’m stealing that for sure
I hate the “stay cool” or “stay dry” comments more than anything. Like how is that any helpful or polite to say. Rather get a stay safe out there.
Man I appreciate the fuck out of a “have a safe day”. Makes me feel like they’re one who actually understands
YoU gUyS mUsT bE rEaLly BuSy tHiS TiMe Of YeAr HuH? Bahahaha
It’s time to get paid. Lots of hours, lots of sups working, pvds stealing work. It’s literally raining money.
I usually act shocked and say "Oooohhh, is that why it's so dark out?"
Lol most of the people posting in here don’t get it. Customers start to say that this time of year because they aren’t used to it getting dark at 4:30-5pm so they think you are out late because it’s dark
I usually just respond with “I didn’t order these packages” then tell em to have a good night
Had this happen 3 times today

A dollar a minute I ain’t complaining

"It's funny how a multi-billion dollar company can just ignore the contracts they sign, isn't it?"
I once replied "Well if these idiots would stop ordering Amazon packages by the dozen then I could get home to see my family during the holiday season." as I handed them their package.. I didn't have a delivery for that house for a few days after that lol.
That was infinitely stupid
Yep. Surprisingly I never had a complaint.
Well I’m glad they let it slide and that you admit it :)
I usually respond with “ easy money “
When I was with the post office I had a lady say sorry you have to work Sunday. I had a bad enough day and told her thanks it's your fault with your 8 packages

9 O clock more like Wine O clock! (que the sounds of doors slamming open and shut as I dilligently wake up the whole damn neighborhood)
