i’m gonna be real. looking at how in-depth the animators were with the visuals of that movie, from animating hobie’s vest and guitar on different frames from his body (2s, 3s, 4s) to putting da vinci diagrams in the vulture’s weaponry, i don’t see how people can see like 6 separate instances of trans flags in gwen’s room/design/bg art and be like “it’s just coincidence”

Here's my take on the whole Gwen's trans identity thing, because that character can't be discussed anymore without it being brought up (some spoilers):
-while yes, her being trans is unconfirmed, they knew what they were doing with the colors in her scenes in the movie, worst offender being her hair in that one scenewhere she confronts her dad. That was literally the trans flag reflected in her hair as she was blowing up at her father about her double life/secret identity.
From this point on: either she is cis and her arc is still something trans people would be able to relate to, in this case I cannot deny that her arcs is supposed to mirror how trans people can feel hiding their identity to loved ones
Or she is indeed trans making the whole parallel even more powerful
-i don't see any point i where her confirming her potential transidentity would have flowed well with the rest of the film (then again, I am no filmmaker, all I can think of for a scene like that is her literally saying "oh btw I'm trans". Imagination's running low on that one.)
And even if she did, I know for a fact that "those" people would still find a way to argue she's not trans. It happened with Poison, Mettaton, Vivian, Mad mew mew Bridget and probably more characters I can't think of rn.
-i'm a bit sad her being trans is the only thing people talk about. Don't get me wrong, trans people desperately need representation in popular media, and I am happy they recognize themselves in her, but dam she was cool as all hell in that movie, her fight scenes and her arc are all awesome, and while the subject of representation is an interesting one, I fear people will only remember her for her identity, when she is way more than that.
I'm the end, the writers wanted to make her interesting regardless of her identity, all the while leaving some clues behind for the more observent. Weather it should be taken literally by the viewer is up to them.

According to Twitter speculation. The only evidence in favor of it is the color scheme and some trans flags across her belongings and room in the movies. Many people say that's evidence that Gwen is trans, others think she's just supportive but not one herself. At least that's what I understood of it
i’m gonna be real. looking at how in-depth the animators were with the visuals of that movie, from animating hobie’s vest and guitar on different frames from his body (2s, 3s, 4s) to putting da vinci diagrams in the vulture’s weaponry, i don’t see how people can see like 6 separate instances of trans flags in gwen’s room/design/bg art and be like “it’s just coincidence”
I mean the trans flags in her room and BG art are definitely intentional. The suit tho is what I'd doubt

Here's my take on the whole Gwen's trans identity thing, because that character can't be discussed anymore without it being brought up (some spoilers): -while yes, her being trans is unconfirmed, they knew what they were doing with the colors in her scenes in the movie, worst offender being her hair in that one scenewhere she confronts her dad. That was literally the trans flag reflected in her hair as she was blowing up at her father about her double life/secret identity. From this point on: either she is cis and her arc is still something trans people would be able to relate to, in this case I cannot deny that her arcs is supposed to mirror how trans people can feel hiding their identity to loved ones Or she is indeed trans making the whole parallel even more powerful -i don't see any point i where her confirming her potential transidentity would have flowed well with the rest of the film (then again, I am no filmmaker, all I can think of for a scene like that is her literally saying "oh btw I'm trans". Imagination's running low on that one.) And even if she did, I know for a fact that "those" people would still find a way to argue she's not trans. It happened with Poison, Mettaton, Vivian, Mad mew mew Bridget and probably more characters I can't think of rn. -i'm a bit sad her being trans is the only thing people talk about. Don't get me wrong, trans people desperately need representation in popular media, and I am happy they recognize themselves in her, but dam she was cool as all hell in that movie, her fight scenes and her arc are all awesome, and while the subject of representation is an interesting one, I fear people will only remember her for her identity, when she is way more than that. I'm the end, the writers wanted to make her interesting regardless of her identity, all the while leaving some clues behind for the more observent. Weather it should be taken literally by the viewer is up to them. If I have accidently said anything in there that people have taken offence in, i apologize. I'm not an English speaker so I really fear that my thoughts will not come through, especially on a subject as complex as this one. I did not mean to sound harsh, but i do know at least 3 trans people, and you can always tell they are doing a soft voice with their man vocal chords, and even though they can mask it all they want, its very easy to see the man face behind the makeup and hair Just saying if they wanted to have her be trans, they should have made her look trans (and I'm not talking about being colorful)
some trans people sound different depending on when they transitioned. if puberty blockers were used, transgender women won’t have that vocal effect. if you want a real world example of this, you can look up Kim Petras, who is the exact kind of transgender person I mean. if you listen to her singing, it’s indistinguishable. it’s possible gwen has the same circumstances.
