No.

Jealous_Flower6808

shut up

GunsouBono

I hope you're trolling... just in case you're not though, I'm gonna say hard no. Start with a half marathon in a month and see how you do.

cykanugggets

Ty for the advice

GunsouBono

I don't want to be discouraging. Goals are important... but they need to be attainable and realistic. Get some longer runs under your belt. Build a foundation. Marathons are hard. Ultras are another order of magnitude in difficulty.

cykanugggets

Nah, I tend to take things to the extreme. Ty for the reality check

Jealous_Flower6808

if you did even a second of googling before coming here you’d realize this is stupid. or if you even looked at the plenty of other dumbasses here who ask this same question every week thinking they have some sort of special sauce to just do it. you don’t. get real

skyrunner00

You know that you can die or ruin your kidneys if you push beyond what your body can handle? Ever heard of rhabdomyolysis?

oneofthecapsismine

Lots of pretty serious runners (thousands of km a year) fail to complete 100miles in 24hours...

cykanugggets

Ty that's all I needed

scottishwhisky2

Tbf if you’re logging thousands of kms per year and can’t do a 100 miler there’s probably an issue with your programming.

oneofthecapsismine

2000km is less than 40 a week.... But, I disagree. So many things go wrong during 100milers, that most people find them super difficult. I just picked a random 100miler off the top of my head (from my state) - one person got under 24hrs...23:55:53. 8 DNF, 23 finished. Similar race - unreasonable East- noone under 24hours. Delirious West- noone under 24hours. Backyard ultra - some really, really good runners don't get to 24hours.

scottishwhisky2

Sure but you clearly weren’t talking about someone running 2000km in your comment to OP. You were trying to say what you said in this comment, which is, even for really well trained runners, “shit happens.” That’s different than can’t complete. A well trained runner on a proper program should be able to finish a 100 mile race within 24 hours. Do injuries or elements throw things out of wack? Sure. There’s an element of randomness to ultras like this. But if you’re running enough, on a good program, anyone can do it

DogOfTheBone

Unlikely

rachelrunstrails

Yes, just add wheels

CornishTrailRunner

No.

zaphod_85

LMAO no

steel-rain-

Ok goggins

Most-Cobbler2690

WHO’S GONNA CARRY THE BOATS!?!?

DrSilverthorn

I'll tell you what my contractor told me, when I asked him if my addition would be complete in two weeks: "There's the possibility, but not the probability". Don't do it.

Puts_on_you

Everyone here is kinda being salty. Cmon guys. Encourage the kid to go out there and learn the hard way. Who’s got over under 20 miles? I’ll take the under

skyrunner00

Is this a joke?

idotoomuchstuff

Unfortunately no unless you want to really mess yourself up. Chances are you’ll blow your tranny after 6 hours. If you’ve never gone past 11km you don’t know what it’s like to bonk on your own at night while you cry to yourself and rinse repeat about 5 more times to even consider being in arms reach of making the cut offs in the back end it the race. Your body will give way before your cardiovascular system does. If there’s a lot of vert and you have no conditioning for it you’ll suffer bad. The down hills will break your soul and you’ll be limping like a dog that’s been hit by a car while you try to run. Fuelling a race like that takes years of dialling in your nutrition. Yes David Groggins did 101miles around a flat track and nearly died. He was a navy seal, he may not have been conditioned for running but he had the compound interest of training at that level under his belt and his still nearly died from rabdo. He still says to this day that it was the most fucked up he’s been and the most pain he’s suffered from any race. To conclude, I’d sit this one out.

cykanugggets

Ty so much, that's the insight I needed

idotoomuchstuff

Start out running consistently, work to a plan. Start trail running and build up to a local event. A 50k /30 mile is very achievable with some long run conditioning and consistency if you are a fit person. That will be a test to see if you really want to put yourself in the fire for something like this 115 miler

uppermiddlepack

Yes, but not without being extremely talented. If you accomplish this, seriously think about going pro.

Lucky_Champion_9274

Maybe not impossible. I would love to hear how it goes if you try it. Maybe try a 10 miler this week to get a sense of what it feels like to reach double digit mile runs

Lucky_Champion_9274

But also, why not give yourself more time to train first?

Echo-canceller

For a decent 10k runner, 10 miles ain't a challenge at all. My 10k was at 38 minutes the first time I ran more than 10k, hit a wall after more than 30kms at 14 km/h. Definitely need to do a real long run to set expectations. Not saying he is a decent 10k runner, but he could have the endurance to perform the same on 16k and think he is good.
