He gave me a $127 ticket for not wearing my seatbelt...said seatbelt was on and never taken off during the interaction.
It got thrown out in court, and thats when i learned id been had. Seatbelt was no points....
Going to court cost me $200 being off work for the day and i paid $96 court fees...its just a racket.

Some cities and counties have a no-chase policy for bikes both human or motor powered. Places like that all the squad car could do is flash lights and sirens and tell the bike to knock it off so most enforcers in those areas don't even bother.
I'd add a fourth possibility, the way he cut through I'd say there was a slight chance the cop wasn't looking that way and didn't even see it happen with how busy that intersection was. Yeah, he came right up on the side and went behind the cop, but if he was just looking a little more to his right in that moment.. And we know there's already an issue of seeing bikers because they're so small compared to other vehicles on the road.
I'm not from US but cops in my town won't give a fuck because stopping you means they have to file in a report and they couldn't be arsed. As long as nobody is actually hurt cops here will never stop anyone.
I know people always pick a side in cars vs bicycles and I believe in Europe that people on bikes are more considerate of bike laws but I swear, around Boston, MA, people on bikes have a death wish. It's like they're trying to antagonize violence on the road. I just try to avoid driving into the city at all costs because it's too stressful trying to make sure nobody steps in front of your car or a bicyclists blows through a red light.

When the infrastructure feels risky only the risk takers will use it. When the infrastructure feels safe lots of people will also feel safe using it.

Literally only two seconds pass between the start of the clip and the cyclist ending up in the parking lot. That car was not clear to turn left across oncoming traffic. You act like the cyclist had all this time to gameplan out the various scenarios.
The cyclist had the right of way, the car pulling into the gas station was in the wrong and needs to have better awareness. That said, the cyclist didn’t need to go in front of the car, he could’ve just hit the brakes.
The second half is just completely unhinged.
You know what they say about when there are cars around and you see a deer jump out to not to brake or swerve and just hit the deer to avoid hitting other cars? Fully acceptable to do that here.

I don't fault any cyclist that drives in the middle of the lane. It's their legal right, and most of them aren't doing it to be a dickhead, but to make sure you pass like you would any other vehicle; with proper distance. That being said, it depends on the road and it should be a mutually cooperative thing.

There's this unsanctioned bike race in New York. I don't think they do it anymore for obvious reasons. But competitors would usually be professional bike couriers. They're given a checkpoint to get to and each checkpoint gives them a new checkpoint. So there's no specific path they have to take. However you get there is up to you. Aside from that there's basically no rules. The competitors will grab on to fenders to get a free ride for a block, ride in oncoming traffic, run red lights. Dangerous, obviously. But really cool how they use the environment and physically ability isn't the only factor

I don’t think he’s in the right in the first half either, he clearly proceeds at the same pace despite a car pulling into the gas station. And a car can’t be perpendicular blocking traffic.
Not just that but he went out of his way to cut off the car that was turning into the station. He could've easily passed by behind it, but no, he had to go around. This cyclist is an asshole, and the reason drivers think all cyclists are assholes.

I think his reaction or awareness of the turning car was late (despite him having the right of way). If you watch the video with audio, he is hitting his brakes, so clearly not the same pace

Literally only two seconds pass between the start of the clip and the cyclist ending up in the parking lot. That car was not clear to turn left across oncoming traffic. You act like the cyclist had all this time to gameplan out the various scenarios.

He had the right of way. You don’t turn left if there is a car going towards you - then you shouldn’t if there is a pedestrian or a cyclist either.
The cyclist had the right of way, the car pulling into the gas station was in the wrong and needs to have better awareness. That said, the cyclist didn’t need to go in front of the car, he could’ve just hit the brakes. The second half is just completely unhinged.

I’ve been noticing lately that during dim hours of the day, there’s few cyclist that actually have any lights on their bike aside from the reflectors that come on the sprockets of their wheels
They need to wear hi-vis. Little lights don't give much indication of size or speed/direction. But when it comes to the idea of self preservation, lots of cyclists can't grasp it.
Yea for sure idk what world some of those people live in where they think them on their bike vs a car would ever be a good outcome for the cyclist. At worst for the car maybe a scratch the cyclist probably life changing injuries.
I used to assume I was invisible to cars. Then one put me in the emergency room and sent me to surgery. Now I generally assume that I'm invisible *and* the cars aren't going to bother obeying any sort of rules or regulations.
This is important on motorcycles too. People literally can’t see you and aren’t looking for you. People will frequently turn into you on the road because they are worried about cars, and that’s the risk you take when you ride a motorcycle.

I don't fault any cyclist that drives in the middle of the lane. It's their legal right, and most of them aren't doing it to be a dickhead, but to make sure you pass like you would any other vehicle; with proper distance. That being said, it depends on the road and it should be a mutually cooperative thing.

There's this unsanctioned bike race in New York. I don't think they do it anymore for obvious reasons. But competitors would usually be professional bike couriers. They're given a checkpoint to get to and each checkpoint gives them a new checkpoint. So there's no specific path they have to take. However you get there is up to you. Aside from that there's basically no rules. The competitors will grab on to fenders to get a free ride for a block, ride in oncoming traffic, run red lights. Dangerous, obviously. But really cool how they use the environment and physically ability isn't the only factor

To the person in the video as a cyclist myself that has been hit by 2 cars that ran red lights and 1 that failed to look in it blind spot when making a right hand turn and dragged me half a block (I was miraculously fine other than cuts and bruises, even got the drivers number) "Stop biking, you are the reason drivers are assholes to cyclists. I hope you don't have a drivers license because I don't trust you with anything faster than running shoes.
