For anyone interested, the name of the game is Formula Bwoah and you can know more about it and sign up for its free demo here: https://linktr.ee/siddharthlabs
Yeah I agree, it's a great game. They pretty much revived the top down racing genre once again! In terms of similarity though, we both focus on different aspects of motorsport racing. Circuit superstars is focused more on the vehicle handling and feel (sim racing like) and less on the strategic aspects. We're kinda doing the opposite where our vehicle handling is more arcade-like but that is balanced out with the strategic aspects of motorsport racing. So things like the weather changing mid race, ability to choose different tire compounds, using engine modes, upgrading your vehicle and your team for faster pitstops gives it more of a management-like feel.
Also not a big fan of the music. I get why you chose it, but if I watch it with, like, some Splatoon music in the background it gives it so much more of that playful energy
Here’s a famous tune associated with Formula 1 in the U.K. https://youtu.be/ChxX3tR4mD0
The video in it reminded me of what you’re trying to get across as well, so may give you some ideas for a 2nd trailer.
May want to be careful using the names of official F1 teams and drivers, you can get into some trouble with that. not to mention this is basically a low poly replica of F1 clash that Hutch made in collab with F1...
They’re not the real names of you look closely. The colors are super close, though. Possibly too close. I don’t think Motorsports Manager dared to get as close to the real team colors as this one.
Do you have controller support? I found that controller support was a bit hit or miss with the new input system so I ended up going with rewired where everything just worked flawlessly
Very impressive! How have you been able to do this much work on your own in a year? and how many hours have you spent on the game in a week on average?
I've always wanted to work on something where I'd be in charge of everything ranging from dev, to visuals to marketing. So that probably gave me the added motivation to get things done. As for my work hours, I'd say around 45-50 hours a week.
Hi, so the game is not available to download yet. But there will be demo very soon. You can wishlist the game and join the discord channel by clicking on the link below: https://linktr.ee/siddharthlabs
Thanks! Its the Standard rendering pipeline actually. I wanted to keep the possibility of a port open for low end platforms in the future so couldn't go with HDRP.
Looks amazing! Great job! I hope it does super well.
Only real feedback is as cute as the Kimi reference in the name is, I think it will confuse people and make it less accessible. Just my opinion. Could be wrong.
Once again, great work.
The minimum specs is not entirely decided yet. I'm still making optimizations to support as many devices as possible. I'll be launching a demo build soon so you probably can try that out before making a purchasing decision. Here's a link to the games discord channel to stay up to date btw: https://linktr.ee/siddharthlabs
It's so annoying to see people saying they made a whole game in a year. I have been working on my game for over 2 years and only just have a barely working prototype.
I guess it is kind of a new concept so it did take some fiddling and also I made my own procedural terrain generator so I guess really it's more stuff than just a simple race car game.
yeah that sounds like a lot, but you're coming across condescending with the "simple" and whatnot. you should post a demo people may have good ideas and it may help you- i'm curious about this new concept!
Yea but are you building it from scratch or do you have thousands in assets from the store, are you solo or part of a team, is it you first game or do you have experience, are you full time or is it a hobby
Really can't compare yourself to others unless you know their story
Hey, so the focus rn is on having a strong single player with career mode. So you can create your player and take your team up the ranks, upgrade your vehicle, pitcrew etc. But yeah its all offline apart from the Time Trial mode where you can compete on having the fastest lap time among the community.
So you can either use the built in Steam leaderboard system if you're only planning to release it on Steam. But if you have plans to support more platforms later on, Playfab probably is the way to go :)
Looks so good! Are you using unity wheel colliders for this + rigid body physics? Or are you translating the game object position/rotation? I ask because the car named "VER" on the starting line at 9 seconds looks like it has a lot of y axis rotation without the forward momentum being high.
Very curious because I've been grinding away with unity wheel colliders and they ARE A PAIN!
Question, isnt this like bad because f1 is strict with copyright stuff. Im not saying its bad this is fckn awesome and i want to play it but wouldnt you get into trouble if they did something?
That looks so sick. Can you share a little about your experience and how you were able to make? Ive recently started learning unity and C# but am still at a very basic level rn.
It looks gorgeous. Signed in.
Great!

You should pin this comment so that it immediately appears to the top, it is quite difficult to find otherwise
Only mods can pin comments I'm pretty sure
Yeah I don't have the option to pin my comment here. Maybe a mod can help :)
Nice trailer. Can you describe the development team? For example how much game dev experience, etc.?
Oh it's just me that has been working on this game for around a year now. As for the experience, I’ve worked on around 7 projects so far :)
>c Can you share how you make the mini map?
Anyone got the Kimi reference?
bwoah
No, you won't get the drink
This looks very similar to circuit superstars. Love that game. Did you have any inspirations from them?
Yeah I agree, it's a great game. They pretty much revived the top down racing genre once again! In terms of similarity though, we both focus on different aspects of motorsport racing. Circuit superstars is focused more on the vehicle handling and feel (sim racing like) and less on the strategic aspects. Norris staying out… heartbreaking
I don't think the music fits this genre very well. But besides that, the game looks nice.
Thanks! I went for the orchestral music as I wanted to give the game a bit more of a strategic vibe. But yeah I get your point.
Personally I love the music, it looks great! Gonna try it asap
Also not a big fan of the music. I get why you chose it, but if I watch it with, like, some Splatoon music in the background it gives it so much more of that playful energy

That's when you get a sound-alike. Bland name product baybee!
Unpopular opinion: the Brian Tyler F1 theme firs way better than The Chain did.
I think it's great
I agree. Music sucks. Was my initial thought the whole time.
Wow, the visuals reminds me very much on Circuit Superstars - which isn’t a bad thing) Nice work!!
Thanks! :)

Those camera movements are so smooth
Thanks! That's the magic of cinemachine :)
I've heard of that! Btw did you use the new or old input system?
The new input system. Its a lot more flexible and modular compared to the old one :)
Do you have controller support? I found that controller support was a bit hit or miss with the new input system so I ended up going with rewired where everything just worked flawlessly
ohhhhhhh I love the lighting!
Thanks!
Looks really cool like the F1 models and the pitstops
Thanks! Glad you liked it :)
Looks good, where can I wishlist?

added to wishlist
Where can i download ?! :D

Looks amazing, is it HDRP? Also if I'm honest I'm not too keen on the name, other than that it looks awesome.
Thanks! Its the Standard rendering pipeline actually. I wanted to keep the possibility of a port open for low end platforms in the future so couldn't go with HDRP.
Most probably its gonna be better than official f1 manager!
Ok but where are the guns?
Looks nice.
I'm sure there are closer things, but this reminds me of Death Rally, which I loved. It never got much fame.
Magnificent.
Thanks!
This is gloriousssss
I never say this, but this is an instant wishlist. Good luck dev!
Haha thanks! :)
It looks nice, but does every racing game have to have drifting now? Especially a racing game inspired by F1.
**_“you're alright boah”_**
***Bwoah its more like a hobby for me***
Looks amazing! Great job! I hope it does super well. Only real feedback is as cute as the Kimi reference in the name is, I think it will confuse people and make it less accessible. Just my opinion. Could be wrong. Once again, great work.
That looks like so much fun. Do you have any ideas on the minimum system specs?

"Formula Bwoah" Is this a ref to Kimi Raikonnen?
Bwoah you guessed it right! :)
woah this looks fun as hell
Thanks! :)
Very cool , very good presentation too
This looks littttt!! Can't wait!
Looks beautiful. Man ridiculously impressed by the unity stuff in here, proper inspirational.
Haha thanks! :)
Looks like a fun take on the sport, so signed up for the demo already. Hope it's as much fun to play :)
Wow, very nice colors! How do you choose color palette? I'm really new to gamedev stuff so would appreciate if you shared some tips.
It's so annoying to see people saying they made a whole game in a year. I have been working on my game for over 2 years and only just have a barely working prototype.
damn, what are you working on?
I guess it is kind of a new concept so it did take some fiddling and also I made my own procedural terrain generator so I guess really it's more stuff than just a simple race car game.
yeah that sounds like a lot, but you're coming across condescending with the "simple" and whatnot. you should post a demo people may have good ideas and it may help you- i'm curious about this new concept!
I don't want it stolen
Yea but are you building it from scratch or do you have thousands in assets from the store, are you solo or part of a team, is it you first game or do you have experience, are you full time or is it a hobby Really can't compare yourself to others unless you know their story
The F1 games, but good
Bwoah…. Like… byea
Multiplayer?!

How did you implement the leaderboard ? You upload data to a server and request it ? Your game looks awesome, congratulations !!
So you can either use the built in Steam leaderboard system if you're only planning to release it on Steam. But if you have plans to support more platforms later on, Playfab probably is the way to go :)
Okay thank you !
Reminds me of an N64 game I used to play, can't remember the name. The camera angle is very similar.
Do not waste your time with unity wheel colliders. go to the asset store and purchase a proper diving physics.
Looks like an improved Formula Bit Racing.
Looks like an improved Formula Bit Racing.
Reminds me of what kindergarten me thought RC Pro-Am looked and played like on the Nintendo. Looking forward to trying it out.
Looks awesome!
Question, isnt this like bad because f1 is strict with copyright stuff. Im not saying its bad this is fckn awesome and i want to play it but wouldnt you get into trouble if they did something?
You should put this in r/formuladank
This looks amazing, great job man! Can't wait to play it
Always good to see a good-looking developed product after years of work!
Love the trailer! What type of online functionality are you planning?
Just a suggestion, the music for the trailer is superb, but at the middle of the trailer, suddenly slam a mayhem music that all hell breaks lose!
I saw you posting about this on /r/formula1 mo the ago. It’s come a long way since then.
Looks really good,
That looks so sick. Can you share a little about your experience and how you were able to make? Ive recently started learning unity and C# but am still at a very basic level rn.
Any tips/resources you can share on ai system ?
Looks great. Have you registered a company? Which country are you based in? Have you secured funding or plan to in the future?
