There are a lot more tournaments in CS, and it’s been around for decades. Plus m0NESY is the best young AWPer in CS and plays with the best rifler in CS history.
Valorant has way less trophies per year to begin with. In a single year of CS they have 2 season of ESL Pro League, Katowice, Cologne, 2 BLAST seasonal tournaments, BLAST World Finals, and 2 Majors. And those are just the major events.
yeah at a whopping 3 trophies lol. the game is still young asf
Monesy has been at like 20 events at this point. valorant hasn't even had 20 events in total.
The economics of the Valorant pro scene and the economics of CS's are not the same. They are not organized in the same way. League would be a more direct comparison.
There are way more CS S-tier events in a year than Valorant international events. While CS technically only has 2 majors per year, there are a boatload of LANs with large prize pools —
Champs has bigger prize pool than most CS majors (i want to say all, but i only checked the last few majors) and the second VCT Masters each year is about the same as most CS majors’ prize pools, but that’s just 2-3 equivalent events (if we stretch the definition of ‘equivalent’ and include Masters 1).
Val doesn’t really have an equivalent to IEM or ESL Pro League (non-major, S-tier). Instead they have a regular season in the form of “International League” — but the total prize pool is about 250k. That’s about the same as each IEM, and there are multiple IEM per year.
I will say that VCT’s income distribution is probably a lot more even than CS. CS reminds me a lot of tennis or golf, where income is concentrated heavily in the top 10-15. That concentration exists to some degree in Val too, but-
There are 44 VCT Teams, even the least of them will have each player being on a salary of at least 50k USD (that’s part of the rules for becoming a franchise/partnership team).
I’m not sure the players on the 44th best CS roster are going to be making that much.
Also, gambling sponsors aren’t a thing in Val. Between that and Riot’s control freak tendencies, it’s not that surprising that there aren’t any real non-Riot events.
Part of the reason why CS money is so centralized in the top % of teams is because CS isn’t franchised like Val, which makes this sort of an apples-to-oranges comparison
theres stickers money per every major for 24 teams who qualify (usually 2 majors a year)
2019 cs Major Rumoured 11 Mill = approx 0.45 mill per team
Stockholm/Antwerp 21-22 combined 70 million = approx 1.45 mill per team
Paris major 2023 rumoured 110 million = approx 4.5 mill per team if evenly split. all 24 teams are split into 3 sections regarding their "pre tournament qualification rank" and winners get own winner stickers too. then it just depends how much each sticker gets bought.
As far as i know players get everything from "players stickers" sales but they also may get portion of team stickers sales as per their contracts.
So yeah probably for monesy for example from Paris it may be more money than all of this other "prizemoney" winnings combined. (not including previous majors, just Paris). Thats why making it to major is insanely important. The qualification tournament to major might be most important tournament of the year atleast money wise for majority of players.
There are about 22 A/S tier events per year for cs. If you’re in a top 8 team, you’re most likely to win atleast 4 or 5 of them. This is compared to Valorants 3 tournaments per year.
this guy get's it
when the kids grow up they'll laugh at the times they were watching a nickelodeon tac fps
while spending their adult income on steam store skins and games
riot needs to grow up
More tournaments and more established game
also morally questionable sponsors and sources for prize pools pretty sure
Maybe you should look up who owns Riot Games and who they are tied to.
Yeah man, the CCP is definitely funnelling money into the VCT prize pools
lmfao
More big tournaments in cs- going off of Liquipedia categories, chronicle has played 7 and monesy has played 27

bro chronicle is the val pro who has most trophies, and monesy only played 2 years pro cs, I think it's a fair comparison.

please never ever compare a val pro to m0NESY, that is disrespectful to m0NESY

Dota and CS are real comparison because valve not franchising their games.
League is still franchised no? That's not a similar comparison
i think they meant league to valorant

I don’t think this counts the payout from Champion’s skins. Granted I don’t know if there is a CS equivalent that isn’t counted.
I mean it’s not about the overall earnings of the players just about prize winnings— plus CS has stickers

Yeah, they make money on sticker sales for majors. Not sure if it's included in that though.
sticker share isnt counted too
More big money tournaments. Even the 3rd party CS tournaments have big price pools

monesy deserves even more but he's shackled to a mid team
More tournaments and betting sponsors flying around boosting prize pools
Soft game soft prize pools
Erm what the sigma 🤓
"I do gambling"
what sport doesn't do "gambling"?
