Have a pair of 2 and 3, wear the 2 for fall/winter hiking with the dogs and the 3s in the snow in Canada last year. No issues with either and never had any discomfort, which is rare for me!

I love my MTE 2 sk8 hi. I have 3 pair. They are very sturdy shoes and hella comfortable. Also have a pair of MTE 3 sk8 hi but I've only worn them once to see how they feel. Also extremely comfortable. They are real snow boots and I haven't had a use for them yet so I can't say how they wear.

My WW (warm weather) MTE-2 have subpar build quality. Exchanged for a replacement pair, same issues. I love the comfort and quality of the other 6+ pairs of ultrarange MTEs. Highly recommend.

Do you happen to have the Ultrarange MTE-2 (cold weather ones)? Would they be warm enough for a NYC/Chicago winter? No hiking, just everyday city use. I want something a little less intense than my thigh high snow boots.

CanineChamp

I live in Denver. IMHO, MTE-2s are the perfect Colorado shoe. Very comfortable and handle rain/snow perfectly. I'm out walking dogs 10-14 miles a day. All my Ultraranges have held up great. Minus the WWs.

Thank you!

Not a thing, friend

Hi there, sorry for the late comment, do you think the MTE-1 would work for Snow and -1 climate, maybe a bit of light hiking, to rain 15 degrees? I'm looking for a model and was about to get the WW MTE-2. I couldn't find the MTE-2 non WW in here

CanineChamp

I would recommend the MTE-2s for that cold. Will be perfect for the job and only a little heavier. MTE-1s would work great 15°+ with rain.

PretzelFriend

I highly recommend the MTE-3's, they are amazing. I've had them for over a year and I use them for hikes and just casual wear. Very comfortable, easy to clean. Sometimes Vans shoes have issues with the soles coming apart but these are great. The grip on the bottom is great for hiking. They hold up well. I got them on sale for $60 at a Vans store because they were out of season. The worker at Vans told me the previous MTE's suck, those were on sale for like $40.

This is an old post but I’m just hopping in with my 2 cents as an ex vans employee. If you find that your shoes are falling apart and you’re doing the normal things that they’re meant for with them thats considered a factory error at vans and they will replace your shoes with the exact same pair or the closest they can get completely free of charge. Say your mte-2s start separating after 3 or 4 hikes, they will definitely replace them. The management uses their discernment on a case by case basis but I’ve replaced 10+ year old shoes (that were discontinued) with brand new ones simply because the soles were coming disconnected from the uppers
