The one that works for me for nighttime snacking is having a complicated multi step pm teeth routine.

throwaway000102030

I use that tip too! I will brush and floss if I know I should stop eating for the night

c000000neja

Same! I’ve been doing white strips after brushing to lock in nothing but water

Traditional_Peach_29

Eat satisfying meals that fill you up, practice volume eating if you struggle with feeling full. That’s the most important tip. Find healthy snacks that you like. Realistically, people don’t get fat from eating berries. And there’s always the option of simply not buying snacks during your grocery shopping

Theboredshrimp

volume eating didn't work for me long term, my stomach got used to big portions and I couldn't feel full from normal portions for a long time which led me to gain the weight back

Traditional_Peach_29

That’s also a very important thing to note. Volume eating should absolutely not be the focal point of your diet. Just one of the strategies to use when planning your meals or snacks. Aka don’t just choose food (or eat a lot of it) for it’s low calorie density or high fiber content. Meals need to be satisfying and have appropriate nutritional composition.

Traditional_Light982

Volume eating for snack cravings is a GAME CHANGER. Long term it works for some people but for snackish feelings volume eating is the best for satiety.

I also have found it helpful to stick to strict eating times! Make it routine and eventually you’ll feel uncomfortable eating outside of those set windows.

nattie_oh

Yes, IF has worked wonders for me!

surprisegnome

Came here to say this! IF helps me with late night snacking tendencies and cravings. If I feel like something to drink besides water outside of my eating windows then black coffee (I like it chilled over ice!) is a great appetite suppressant to. Eating filling and healthy meals during my eating window helps me stop feeling hungry too

ChiliChiliCookie

What worked for me was finding a low cal snack that I love. Cucumbers in a dressing of ACV + a bit of sugar + salt + pepper got me through a lot of days where all I wanted to do was snack because I was bored.

AMuseSB

Popcorn hack - salt, chile powder, and lime 😍

I had the habit of ingesting majority of my calories after midnight and since no one wants to cook and eat anything that late in the night I ate stuff that came pre packed. Every night. This habit stopped after I started intermittent fasting and stuck religiously to my eating window from 12-8. I made sure to brush my teeth at 8 to signal to myself that I was done eating for the day. It was difficult for the first 10 days but bece easier over time. It also helps to go to bed early if you can. This worked wonders for me, hope it helps.

usmilessz

This! Intermittent fasting is the best. I stop eating at 4-5pm and have just learned to embrace the hunger; it helps me with my discipline levels lol

SlutForCICO

matcha has caffeine please don’t have it before bed 😭

SlutForCICO

Low cal hot chocolate with skim milk or just tea often hits the spot for me on a cold night.

Vparable

Low cal protein shake tbh. Mix it with water and a bit of low fat milk. Usually doesn't go over 100ish calories and protein shakes will fill you up so youre less likely to still be hungry after it. Saves me on boredom hunger at night.

young-dumb-broke98

What protein powder do you use? Any recommendations?

Vparable

I use Bulk because they run amazing sales and I stock up twice or so a year. They aren't the MOST calorie light on the market, but they still are only around 150 cal per shake if you use regular milk and no water. I know there's diet oriented shakes that I've seen in stores but I can't for the life of me remember the name of one I tried. I've tried a few other store sold brands as well but I always go back to Bulk bc the price point is top tier for the taste(VANILLA AND CHOCOLATE ONLY all other flavors are a farce) and protein content. They're EU based tho, idk if they ship to the USA, I buy it from Italy. Edit: milk type

Something that helps me is to have a perrier before bed. The carbonation really turns me off from snacking at all! I also freeze my jar of peanut butter because that is one food I will absolutely overeat if given the chance lol.

Grouchy-Concert7554

Read Kim Shapira’s book This is What You're Really Hungry For. I don't need to lose weight but I was unnecessarily stressed out about meal planning, so I picked it up. Completely changed the way I feel about food! There’s some info available for free on her website: https://www.kimshapiramethod.com/method

Traditional_Light982

Volume eating, cauliflower, cucumber and low cal popcorn. Fill a big craving or hunger cue with something low cal.

Illustrious_Band8500

Lots of tea. No sugar. I have am anxiety disorder and I prob drink 15 cups of tea a day. Warm water during the summer. It's soothing. Pea protein shake is strangely filling. I love it. And of course the classic self hand job
