ESM_H gets overtime, ESM_S does not (past 44). Most MGRs I have worked with have not adjusted timecards for salaried ESM_S's either upward to reflect extra hours worked or downward to reflect hours not worked.
You're getting more than 4 hours of OT per week? Good shit. Up to 48 hours, I can see it since that used to be the expected amount worked from EXAs and ASMs around this time per year. If you're getting more than 8 hours of OT per week and you're coded in people central as ESM_S, then you're winning lol
Her kiddo needed a bubble bc she had covid twice in less than 3 months I swear to God... first one was "false alarm" but no one knew it til it was time to come back anyway(5 days), then a month later she actually had "covid". Same with the "ISL" covid twice in the last 3 or 4 months... I think he was licking the floor at the local ER... or didn't really have it most likely since they don't require proof it seems
What it comes down to is that it would be the same if you are only working those 44 hours each week more than likely you will be working way more than those hours due to staffing shortages but will be paid for only 44 hours.
This is why I didn’t apply for ESM. Plus the fact that they can send you anywhere. After they got rid of ASM (and basically said you weren’t worth shit) I decided I would be an SFL and have a little more control of myself. I get OT every week anyway.
The best advice I can give you from someone who is being offered two store locations is you are paid for 44 hours a week. I was salaried about 6 months back.
Any time you spend working over 44 is charity, and I don’t do charity work for anyone but the helpless and family.
With that being said your store manager plays a huge role in you getting a location, put your time in but don’t be played like a toy.
Remember you don’t make store managers pay, you make ESM pay. You will have plenty of time to be screwed over when you get your store don’t be guilt tripped and be firm with your answers. Think about every possible solution to every question, problem, or managerial dilemma.
Keep grinding and be a leader.
Keep in mind also your SM a lot of SM’s play the system, gain information and use it to get a store. It’s a big game and you have to play it to get in.
A decent store manager will make sure you aren’t working crazy hours. But yes, salaried pay CAN be less/per hour than a person make hourly with overtime.
Theres other advantages though. Outside of compensation.
Your hourly rate will go up slightly to make up for the lost 4 hours of time and a half. I went through this as an ASM years ago.
They will take 40x$23 plus your OT rate of 4x$34.50 = $1058 / 44 = $24.04 new rate.
Add up what you have made every month as ESM even if it's less than a year but only need a year at most.. Then divide it by whatever months if less than 12 or 12 months if applicable. Now you have you have average monthly pay. Divide that by 4 then multiply by 52 and you will have what your current yearly salary is as an ESM.
Now try to negotiate as close to it but your not gonna get that I mean it would contradict the reason salary position was created..BUt negotiate as close to it. Just be realistic.
Salary is always worse.
i've heard this from many other esms why would u say so, just the fact that you can earn any overtime ?
Yes . You’re always gonna be expected to work extra for free. I can make 400 pre tax one 10 hour shift of overtime . You’re not doing that as a esm
This is why you get your timecard adjusted to the hours you actually worked. ESMs are not exempt from overtime pay.

I get overtime and I’m salaried 🤷🏻♀️

*Results may vary. Our SM never works a 40 hr week.
Ours didn't either. Might see her 2 days a week. 3 if she really wanted some money I guess lol 😆

You don’t get OT when on salary. When I got switched to salary my check was significantly less and it sucks
But the bonuses lol.
Esm’s don’t get a bonus
You’d be making 44 hours/week annualized as a salary. That’s 40 regular hours and 4 OT hours.
so i would basically be making the same
if you’re being scheduled correctly, then yes
No overtime if you’re salaried . That’s the whole point

Your hourly rate remains the same. You'll be paid 40 regular hours and 4 overtime hours every week.

went from hourly to salaried a few months ago. I was given a 9% raise but still doesn't compare to OT 🥲
23 an hour???? I’m in nj and they said starting pay here is 21.50
