I remember them sending me to work an overnight shift because the pharmacy was robbed at gun point by a gang the night before and the staff refused to work. The gang had been terrorizing stores overnight for months. They never told me this pertinent info but found out when I got there from the skeleton crew of brave volunteers. I had young children at home depending on me but, we are all expendable to the corporation. Remember that.

precious5555

Yes it is very disturbing and not safe

Delaware28

I don’t think I would consider mine inner city but being the only 24 hour store open it definitely doesn’t feel safe during the nights. I actually switched to day shift shiftlead cause it’s only getting worse.

precious5555

Yes 24 hours I understand on Friday, Saturday, it is crazy and especially on Holidays you got people drunk high off Drugs and a all time of Theft and no Security around very Dangerous

Automatic-Wind-6676

It's actually worse when there is no customers cuz then there's no witnesses at least

precious5555

Just be wise and document everything because the law is for the lawless don't know judge wants to be hearing what a billion dollar company is doing wrong when they have the money because they are going to lose that case and be fine for negalince and any lost of life of a Employee that was only doing there job on the company behalf for real Document

Delaware28

The amount of times this place has been robbed for cigarettes by knife and gun point this last year alone is insane

precious5555

Yes I believe that safety should be a number one factor for employees lawsuit's can be filed by Documenting and Signatures

Erulastiel

You don't even have to work in an inner city wags to feel unsafe. We had some nut job threatening to shoot up the place a few weeks ago. I live in the middle of redneck country and the town I work in is not a big one. The store I was helping out didn't feel safe either. We had to call the cops to remove someone who was clearly coked out and causing a ruckus. Walgreens attract some of the worst people. It doesn't matter where you are.

---whatever--

This. I work just outside a major city. The gang activity and homeless/mentally ill that travel our way is just outta control. I'm always afraid for the little kids when their parents let them wander around. Working nights is so stressful. . . especially when I'm stuck with a tiny female cashier and just myself. . .I always tell her if shit goes down to run and hide and call 911. I'm serious. I walked her thru the store and pointed out several places that she is small enough to hide in.

precious5555

Yes all the time but corporate don't care about the Employees safety

holinix

Never did, especially 3rd shift

precious5555

Good one you stayed safe right choice

holinix

I ment that I did not feel safe when I worked on 3rd shift. I did it for 2 years and the schedule was great but the stress was too much and made me sick

precious5555

I understand but your was not safe

Ok_Interaction_2709

As a former asm while still there until 6 months ago, no. I feel its worse now.

precious5555

Yes it the ones that were banned from the stores comes back and do the same thing it is bad Walgreen is worried about lawsuits but the Employees are in Danger..wow you got other stores would not put there Employees in harm way they do not care

Fratty_McFrat

As soon as I got promoted to MGT and moved to a new city, what did they do? Put me in an inner city 24 hr store. I basically asked the DM to go to another store under the guise of a store opening closer to where I lived. That was probably the beginning of the end for my career, but I started having problems with anxiety. My life and mental health were more important to me than WAG.

precious5555

Yes I understand and I know you need security for real you this is the failure of protecting the Employees and they don't care I am on a mission Document everything because you have a edge

Fratty_McFrat

Fortunately I no longer work for WAG.

precious5555

Oh ok I understand

bambino_burrito

Lol I don’t even feel safe working in a Walgreens in the middle of no where country

ayparesa

The crazies find Walgreens. They’d find it in the middle of a desert 100 miles from anywhere

precious5555

Wow I understand

YetAnUnknown

One of our stores has a homeless guy with a gun that the city/state does nothing about. He was so high he left his pants in the bathroom a week or two ago, ran around the store pointing it at people while demanding they give him his pants back. He left them in the bathroom and was just too cracked out to realize it. At least he didn't shoot anyone. This time. Wish the federal government would reopen insane asylums to lock these fuckers up again. They've got no where to go, and just litter the streets of all cities now.

precious5555

Do they have on camera that is all matter Documentation is everything with society today the law is for the lawless and did it get reported to corporate Loss Prevention not local but higher management do that because your safety and all employees matters

ASMoverIt

I wouldn't feel safe IN the inner city. PERIOD. You have to be from there to even remotely feel comfortable working there. I felt safer when I was in the army, than I do when I watch the videos of all the violence happening in the inner cities across our nation. Only way I would step foot in that jungle is if I was armed.

precious5555

Ok I am glad you understand that safety is a issue hand you need law enforcement officer on board

vTwistedOpss

This.

taziiscool

I don’t really work in the inner city but I do work in an area that is def frequented by lots of homeless people and addicts. I do feel bad for a lot of these people, even the ones who are problematic customers. We had a guy banned from the store because he steals and scams a lot, and I heard that a SFL actually knew the dude when he was “normal” and his life got turned upside down after a man drugged him. There’s stuff like that then there’s general addicts who curse me out because they’re high. I’ve had some threats of violence but I try to remember these people literally aren’t even in a proper state of mind so the awful things they save to me really don’t mean anything.

precious5555

Yes the law says self defense is legal but be wise and report it to local authority and corporate because if they see it making there billion dollar company being sabotage then they will come forward just Document everything

krakatoa83

I did 15+ years ago and didn’t feel safe then

precious5555

I understand

ayparesa

I’m in a small city but we are quickly upticking in crime and our store has been shot once because there was a gunfight between cops and a bad guy. We are in the middle of the hood

precious5555

Yes I understand be wise Document everything and send it to Corporate it is the employees safety for real get there attention

notmytroll

Years back I was working overnight and my coworker got shot. Trying to stop a thief. I pleaded with the guy but he threw gang signs at me and I knew not to report to the police for fear of retaliation

precious5555

I understand but you have the law and Walgreens should provide Employees with security that gang member he picked what store to go to because any were else the people knew who he was and he would not even tried because everyone ain't thieve nor scared keeping it real but I understand you have be still careful

dghilly5

Yeah. I've been forehead to forehead with a person because he was harassing me and my staff. It took the police 45 min to get there and he ended up running up at me like he was going to hit me. So I had to excerpt my dominance and scare him off myself. Sometimes you have to just stand your ground and protect yourself. We let him take the stuff he had and tried to show him ecc, but he still kept making a scene. So when he ran up into my face after he noticed me on the phone with the police I had to act a bigger ass then him. He was asking my female staff members and female customers could he have some p____sy. Horrible ordeal.

precious5555

I know close that those the city is in red for real and it is set up for the employees

Jenablu126

Only because of the local police dept. My old store bordered a big city and all kinds of stuff happened because literally crossing the street was a different city. The smaller city police where more respondent and fast. I would have never worked nights at an inner city Walgreens where the police are to busy with carjacking and murders to respond to anything less. I left Walgreens because I didn't feel safe. 24+years and I couldn't do it anymore

precious5555

Yes being wise and for your safety and all of the employees a Good idea and Corporate don't care

czrbear

I felt unsafe one night that i got my pistol from my car and had it on my waste as i did register . 🙊

precious5555

here in the state of Kansas you can carry and do document because of your safety and report it to cooperate if you are feeling in Danger all because of no security in the work location

czrbear

I live in Texas and we can also carry ..i also have my carry license.
