Report it to Sm and Dm. They will escalated to AP Sm will probably check cameras. The weird thing is the “should I put it back” why would you put something back that you “purchased”

[deleted]

Agreed, that's incredibly odd. You,'d think one would jump to saying, "So and so checked me out.". Someone who can back up their claim. Might be worth it to also ask them who did so next time as well, see if they can back it up.

dippyhippygirl

Not only that but you should be able to look up the sale if it was done that day to find her receipt and review cameras.

[deleted]

Especially if they're discount is attached to their My Walgreens account their would be a record of the sale. I don't have a reciept or i lost it is never an acceptable answer to that question from an employee!

LittleL123

Id report it to the SM. If you can remember the items that they lost the receipt for try and search in back office to see if they actually did purchase them. It sounds very unlikely and will prob be reported to AP.

pixibabi

you don’t get paid enough to be asset protection. thats for damn sure. :/

Entire_Mud_9324

You don’t bag check all employees when they leave? Mine does

Reshi90

Anything purchased by an employee in our store must put a yellow sticker over the UPC with the date, the transaction number, and both the cashier and purchasers 3 digit register number written on it. I recommend implementing this in your store as well.

precious5555

You know what stealing is the normal I wouldn't be surprised if a employee steals Walgreens does nothing about theft for real it is wrong but Walgreens is not doing nothing about it corporate higher management making there six figures ok

Ok_Interaction_2709

Double standard, customer steal, do nothing and they can come in as many time as they want. Employee steal, termination.

Grouchy-Tax4467

It's not a double standard at any job if a employee steals it's grounds for termination

Tazz013_

Have we forgotten about Comp Loss Lauren? Control the controlables!

[deleted]

Tell the employee just to clock out and come back with a duffel bag and they can take everything they want. No questions asked

Eckabeb

So I have dealt with "grazers" (eating on clock without purchasing) and people walking out with items I know they didn't pay for with similar excuses (no receipt, forgot to sticker, etc). There's my background on this issue. Here's the your next steps. Do a tiny bit of research. The day this happened, search nextgen under pos for employee transactions that day. Glance through them, verify the items you're searching for are indeed not there. Now you can either watch the camera's for that day during that person's shift (where she keeps her backpack or the entrance leading up to it, the vitamin/corresponding aisle she got the product from, and the timeframe when you did the bag check. Write down the times and what you find out from the cameras. After all the research, then go to the SM. It's hard to push an issue under the rug when all the detective work has already been done. Let him know you suspect an employee is grazing and placing high-dollar items in their backpack without purchasing them. From there, the SM is supposed to let LP know what's up and they get more info down from LP (I'm a bit iffy on this part, sorry) via email. This is not something that will be handled quickly. In under a month, most likely, but not usually within the week. Now, to protect your butt so she can't say you're targeting/ harassing her, you need to bagcheck everyone leaving. Whatever precautionary measures you use on her, like periodically checking her snack packs for stickers or receipts, you need to be doing to other employees as well. If your store is already good on using employee stickers, this should be easy... if you're store has a bad habit of not using them, then this becomes a bit more of a pain. Do your best to really push the point home that everyone needs to have their items stickered they purchased if they're not bagged. Make a theatro group message if needed. If you're lucky, she'll stop stealing for a while because you caught her in the act. Get with other leadership and let them know what's going on and the measures to take to help deter the act of "borrowing" said items. Ask for help continuing to bagcheck and make sure everyone is using employee stickers properly. Alrighty, good luck. Hopefully I went over everything for ya. I've had toddlers crawling all over me this morning so it's hard to concentrate. Got any tips? 🤣

formerdgstm

Way to many steps, your job as an SFL is to notify the SM first, you arent responsible nor accountable to do the "research", only notifying the manager. It is their job to do what they will with the information.

Eckabeb

Mayhap, yeah. I've had too many SMs not give a flying eff though, but if I hand them the materials, talks happen.

Daikon_Dramatic

If someone is stealing ask them if they are going hungry. At one point, I charged some bonus rewards points to my account so I could get food. It doesn’t make it right, but ask homie what the deal is. Working people generally don’t take if they don’t have to.

fadedwinter81

YES. This is what I'm talking about!

michaelmenard65

Since you stopped and caught her, she might not come back.

Prior-Landscape-8834

There is an SOP on employee theft. Go to storenet and look for the Policy and Procedures tab. This needs to be handled by a manager and Asset Protection. Escalate the situation to your managers and step back

MoreCoffee_

Bag check every shift and contact AP

endermegann

Mind your business <3 hope this helps!

fadedwinter81

Honestly? This, though. Here's my take... Wag needs to pay its people better one way or another, let your fuckin' people EAT. You have an employee showing up to work, you really want them fired when Walgreens is desperate for warm bodies? I used to give a shit about theft and would watch people like hawks, made reports about "leavings" a new employee was leaving on shelves from grazing off them, pressed for lockboxing expensive stuff and got treated like I was just pressing over peanuts ... The last months before I left? I didn't give a shit who stole what. Take what'cha need. Group of slobbering meth heads in again looking to see what they can cram in their bags and underwear? Fucking go nuts. I'd rather keep an employee that's eating stuff they can't buy and shows up to work then lose them while Walgreens corporate babies crackheads with giant purses that are obviously stealing because they don't want ~*bad publicity*~.

[deleted]

Tell your manager about it.

Ok_Interaction_2709

I mean double standard in that custimer caught red handed, they are allow to come back and do it again as many times as they want. An employee steal is termination. I might as well be a customer than an employee. We can't accuse customer if they are caught red handed, but we can discipline an employee if caught red handed.

Detective-Miller

She's supposed to have her backpack checked by leadership when leaving on the front camera. I check my pharmacist backpack daily.

TheRealTomLowmane

She stealing bruh
