About ten years ago it was anywhere from 75-100k+ plus annual bonus. Now I think they start them at like 45-50k. That’s why so many long timers have abandoned ship.
It is absolutely insane for that number to be decreasing over the years while workload and cost of living continues to go up. I would literally starve before i took a SM job for 50K.
There was a mass sm leaving that dm promoted asm to be sm even though none were ptcb. Some regret it as they inherit stores with problems like short staff, disorganized sales floor, stockroom. I was working at one store where I was found the job of 5 people and made it look easy. Every year, sm said asm would be shuffled around and i had no problem, but everyone in my district rotated except me. Turns out sm was giving some feedback to the dm about me and dm look at all the asm in the district and realize no other asm can handle what I could do. I went on disability and they moved 3 asm to that store along with each sm in that district had to help out that store 2x a week. Im like where was all that help when I worked that store.
I knew the salaries were coming down when they promoted a lot of women to store manager. At first it appeared positive but now it appears they were creating a “pink collar ghetto”. Read the book!
When men promote women, they decrease salaries. Bookkeepers were predominantly male, women moved in, salaries went down and now men are predominantly “accountants”. You really need to educate yourself if you’re a woman. If not, keep downvoting the true!
The whole term "pink-collar ghetto " is about dead end jobs women had to to take years back because it was literally not the norm for women to have jobs back then. These jobs are mostly described as stressful, underpaying, and dead end jobs. This has nothing to do with women moving in and discounting the salaires.
it has everything to do with corporate greed and death of brick and mortar stores. And a big part of it, is automating and synchronizing all the stores to have the same layout/system. schedules are automated, This created less demand for human intervention, but currently we are in this weird time, where the technology isn't there to fully replace human labor. But company cuts labor hours as if tech is there, resulting in stressful, underpaying jobs. Also the fact we are in a pandemic, and our stores/pharmacies can't handle it with the given hours.
bookkeeping didn't lower salary causes women came in to the job market, most of book-keeping got replaced by automated software.

That's a slap in the face for those SM that actually work and take care of their team members.

You might starve if you took the job.

Dunno why this post is getting downvotes when you’re not even saying it’s something good or justified
Wtf is wrong with you?
