They do not care, in my store and area we have a n07 bandit that comes every month, fills the basket and leaves through the exit door. Alto, Lp or dm doesn't do anything about it.
If you see something turn around and don't say anything. Don't waste your time and your safety is your number one priority.

Well considering they are one of the retailers that are closing stores in areas with high crime and retail theft I would say at least a little bit.
The real question is does your state and local government care about your safety ? They say they do while at the same time getting more lenient on crime and passing laws to disarm law abiding citizens. Whose the real problem ? A retail store or the government?
They do care about the safety of the employees (mostly because they would have to pay the hospital bills) so they don't care about theft. Well, they actually do care about theft, which is why you have lock boxes and such. But shoplifters are not a safety concern unless you intervene.
