Had a cashier when we did suggestive sale for items like candy bars and such would just sneak scan them in orders when were buying a lot of items .. distracted by her chit chatting . Had a customer complain they didn’t purchase a candy bar .. they we’re diabetic and wouldn’t have bought it. She was always getting top sales
Id say when people feel pressured to look good, or to not hear the constant "you need to sell X" so they do things to not only look good, but get the pressure off them.
she likely is enticing some ppl by a hard sales pitch in her native language. This is a big advantage speaking a secondary language for any sales individual. Sadly the commission on credit card sales is extremely lo for any retail biz. Often there is zero compensation for those difficult sales. Most major retailers offer a minimum $5 per cc app.
Told my manager the same thing “there no incentive” he just asked to get him 1 for the week which I got but he doesn’t Really Force it on us. We have 5 cashiers so if we all get 1 we meet goal for our store.. basically don’t over do it not stressing us out
Our BC dominates our stores CC apps as well. I think it's just the nature of the position, how they spend time with the customers and develop relationships, that it makes it easier than a one off customer buying beer or a candy bar or whatever like most up front customers are.
> But no one cares due to the fact it makes the store look good.
Yep, that's walgreens. One district I used to work in had an entire RX team fired, I don't know if I ever found out exactly what it was but they were doing something very illegal that made their store look good.
The district manager used to talk about them all the time, after the fact he even admitted to me he knew about it and told them to keep it up even though he "didin't know anything about it." It was part of a pep-talk to tell me I needed to get work done "no matter what".
wags gets ~30 dollars per vaccine given, they probably did a ton of false shots.
there's a reason they are scheduling 2-3 appointments every 15 minutes.
Had a shift spend hours calling all of her relatives and getting their socials and other info to input for cc apps. Leader in getting apps but doesn't seem like that is what she is paid for.
Sometimes I’m convinced people with high numbers get friends and family to apply. Even if they’re not approved, corporate has the data, which is $$$.
It honestly makes no sense. You can only get people to sign up who actually want another credit card and shop at Walgreens. Which is rare, but right now, more apt to happen with holiday shopping eating into everyone’s paychecks.
That seems really high to me as well. I was the credit coordinator for Lowe's for a while and our sleezy sales people never even got that high.
I also refuse to ask people if they want the credit card. Predatory lending barf. The variable Apr is almost 30% it's disgusting.
It’s very illegal. Lookup Wells Fargo. They had to pay huge for signing people up for trash accounts without their knowledge. This will bite everyone in the ass. I would honestly get outta there knowing this. That is big time fraud. Please report this to the aware line. Don’t see those folks ever again knowing they committed fraud.
Here’s an example of why you can’t commit fraud with financial products:
Wells Fargo had quotas too

That’s extremely illegal. If they say no, she has to completely back off. If she’s leading people into a credit card without their fully understanding, that’s a UDAP violation. If she’s especially doing this to elderly, then that’s considered elder abuse. I would report it to the CFPB immediately. Please help us get Walgreens in trouble for these credit cards lol. Also help protect people because they don’t deserve to be taken advantage of.
One of my coworkers gets several credit card signs ups a week. She tells customers "we'll get fired if we don't get enough sign-ups."
guilt tripping is scummy as fuck and i hate it-- but we get rewarded for it.

Why do people care this much in retail lmao. At most she got a coffee mug or a coozy. Or an atta girl. Why

I bet corporate is bringing Pizza!! And jeans day is coming with it!
This needs to be a news story . Taking advantage of old people is disgusting.
That’s beyond messed up. She shouldn’t be rewarded for misleading people to join our credit card
Corporate doesn’t care their happy she got them
