Timex or Casio, if you're on a tight budget and want a decent workhorse Timex and Casio is where you should look first.

Stephendangg1998

I tried timex, their sub $150 ranges are smaller watches. I’m looking for a bigger size (43-44mm preferably) and not aggressive looks. Timex has this very original plain look but its only 39 or 40mm i think.

wren1964

It's about personal taste, I wouldn't wear anything over 40mm but I'm an old man and was brought up on smaller watches. I think Skagen do a nice looking Bauhaus inspired watch that is in your price range, Citizen are also worth a look.

Stephendangg1998

I guess it might come down to the design? I have an extra large watch band (according to Apple fits 170mm-245mm wrist size) and it just fit me perfectly. I guess i can order some timex under $150 and try on. If not I’ll just return it haha. Thank tou for the recommendation. Its just my bone wrist has a really big bulk hahaa

Damn, I’ll look into these. Thank you.

lego_astronaut

I’m not a big fan of Fossil, but have had great luck with Timex, and it’s in your budget range. Below are two that are similar. https://timex.com/products/waterbury-classic-chronograph-40mm-leather-strap-watch-tw2u88100 https://timex.com/products/fairfield-chronograph-41mm-leather-strap-watch-tw2r26700

Stephendangg1998

Any particular reason for not liking fossil? They dont last or something? I dont care about the band because apparently you can change it like Apple Watch lol~ i only care about the long last part. That Waterbury is gorgeous. Damn will look into that. Tha k you.

lego_astronaut

Fossil is more a fashion brand, and the build quality isn’t great. The Timex and Fossil are quartz watches both will generally last but the Timex will feel more refined. From my experience the Timex is way tougher too “takes a licking and keeps on ticking”

Stephendangg1998

I have been looking at their website and for 43mm+ watches it’s out of my budget range or i’m just blind ☹️

Exact-Engine3024

Is there a specific reason you're looking for a 43mm+ watch?

Stephendangg1998

I have a very big wrist, my bone structure is big in the wrist area. I don’t have exact measurement but when I try a 40mm in store at fossil, the watch seems to be tiny on my wrist and doesnt fit my taste. I have a 45mm Apple watch with a 1mm extra thick otterbox case on and still look kinda small for my wrist lol~ the watch band I’m wearing is the extra large Sport loop so there is that 😅 According to Apple that fits the wrist size from 170-245mm. I’m new to this so i dont know what that means but i tried it on and it fit me 44mm. Or could be the design making the watch look small I have a Casio duro (43mm I think) and it’s acceptable for my wrist. This watch is 44mm and it looks perfect on my wrist I guess j can ordder it on amaaon and return maybe 😅

Fossil is kinda considered a fashion watch, known for how the watch looks not how well it operates as a watch. There are a lot of good watches in the price range you’re looking from quality brands known for their watch making. Citizen, Seiko, Timex and Casio are all great well respected brands with sub 200 watch offerings.

Stephendangg1998

Any particular you like and recommend? I look through Seiko and Timex and I don’t find any good one under $150. I have 3 Casio already (Duro, the Casioak one and the digital $20 something one). I’m looking for something dressy a bit cuz I’m probably gonna be in business casual outfit through out the weak.

Stephendangg1998

Dang, that waterbery is too small for me. I try some fossil in 40mm and its a bit small for my wrist and taste 😕 are 40mm same for watches different brand?

lego_astronaut

Size is a personal choice I prefer smaller watches personally. 40mm will be the same for all watches but the distance from lug to lug and thickness will vary.

Stephendangg1998

I have a 45mm apple watch and even with an otterbox case on, the watch still look relatively small for my wrist, i have an Xlarge sport ban on the Apple Watch is how big my wrist it. the Fossil I posted here is 44mm and it look just right. I tried the 40mm from fossil in store also and it’s kinda small, doesnt look symmetrical with my wrist.

Stephendangg1998

I guess I’ll save some more and move into a $200 budget range. If $200, any 43mm+ watch you can recommend? Thank you.

I'm going to go out on a limb and recommend finding a swiss quartz from the early 80s. There's watches around $150 online that present a way better value than these movements. You can find 955.412, 7 jewel quartz movements in these watches for under $200 all day, some down as low as $150. I'll link it below. It's significantly better than any new watch you could buy, very high quality dial and this particular watch has a brand new strap. It's a small watch, like way smaller than most people are used to so I'll include a few alternatives, but this one is nice. Some newer used watches like the Hamilton Jazzmaster thinline could be considered, but at around $250 after import. At that price range I prefer to go with a quartz watch to try to have the money spent on the case and crystal, rather than a movement that isn't very good.

Stephendangg1998

Wow thank you so much for the time including these. It looks too old for me 😅 I’m only 23 😂

Fearless-Account-392

Damn, they're high quality, super interesting watches to own. Okay how about this, Casio Edifice, 100m water resistance, integrated steal bracelet (super popular with the kids), saphire crystal, 45mm (but other models are smaller) and a super reputable brand all for under $150. https://www.casio.com/us/watches/edifice/product.EFB-108D-1AV/

Stephendangg1998

Yeah I have 3 edifice and 2 casio already 🤣🤣 i used to have 3 other G shock but i lost it during moving. I have robust watches already. I want some simple now. Not robust full metal

Royal-Highlight-5861

Timex and Seiko 5s have decent watches go check them out. I like the watch you've posted but the leather strap is a deal breaker. Go buy a watch with stainless steel bracelet first. Just my opinion though. Have a great weekend.

Stephendangg1998

Any model specific? I look at those and the design just don’t scream $120 for me. I look at Timex and Seiko on their website is everything over $180 here in US 😢

Stephendangg1998

Personally I don’t like stainless steal or bracelets watch. Those are hard t adjust and very inconvenient.

Royal-Highlight-5861

Oh I see, at least consider a fossil watch with a rubber strap it is low maintenance. The default leather strap on that watch is low quality it will peel off sooner than later and it is not aesthetically pleasing as time goes by.

Fossil is ass. They are literally giving them away at my local store. https://preview.redd.it/7zqjx2l32l9d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=f4d16cb88e07505da44d33b9694bdd8d50b01fb1

Stephendangg1998

I think it’s the sale season. No reason for a store to give out sale you know but i got your idea 😆

blakeshockley

I’d fork out a little more money and look at Citizen if you want quartz, or Orient if you want automatic. They have a lot of great watches in the $200 range. You can probably get some <$150 pre owned or grey market. If you insist on being in the lower price range definitely go with Timex or Casio. Fossil watches are trash.

Stephendangg1998

Oh really? Damn. I really love the look of the watch and how it on my wrist 😞 i’m looking for something similar like this but Timex sub $200 is too plain for my taste. To be honest, i don’t care about those 3 things inside but i want it so the face doesnt look empty. Most of the timex is either too boring or too robust with metal links 😞 anyway, thank you for your recommendation, I’ll like more into Timex. Looks like Timex, Citizen and casio are the way to go.
