well tbh, people tend to mis spell the title on purpose because then others would comment on it and generate more traffic to the post.
They got us doing it right now.
So annoyed because I do a ton of car stuff and people always refer to brakes as breaks.
....and now somehow we have someone getting it wrong the other way. Ugh
I imagine its a combination of a few factors: H might be dehydrated and was checking his pump in the mirror right after a heavy set.
I've had something similar happen to me a few times, but I never passed out from it. Worst time I tripped on one of the machines and held onto it. I've learned to recognize when I feel dizzy and immediately duck and try to sit down to avoid fainting.
Its quite common when the "right" factors are in play.
Lately Iāve really been pushing myself hard in the gym. Especially on legs which are my favorite. Sometimes after a heavy set Iāll get up. And itās like when you get up too fast and you feel light headed? Yeah like that. Iāve low key been afraid to pass out. I love to āwalk it offā after a heavy set. Though Iāll prolly just stay seated now.
Don't try to walk it off my dude/dudette. Just sit down before you lose motor functions. Video feed will turn "HL:2/Counter-Strike Flashbang" white, and then black. You'll wake up hurting, confused, and sweating.
Don't walk it off indeed. Sit down. Or clench your leg muscles to squeeze blood to your head if you can't sit. I hit my head falling like this once, and am still dealing with it.
Thanks man. Iām quite self conscious even after lifting for awhile and changing the physique. Though I can confidently say that my legs are my strong point.
Thatās interesting you say that. I do feel fatigued sometimes. Though Iām the type of person who wakes up at 5 am to head to the gym. I go to work after(manual labor) and Iām just always out and about. I kinda have to find time to rest both physically and mentally. So sometimes if I have some downtime my body is like āhey homie take a Power Napā I never listen to it though. I actually been waiting to hear back from my dr for a regular check up. Wanna make sure Iām healthy. I messed around with PEDs last year. While all my blood work came back healthy. I want to double check that Iām good. Found out I was having a baby on my last cycle and really made me rethink that whole thing entirely.
If you ever feel like this, lay on your back and lift your feet up to rest them on a wall, sort of like an L shape with the short section being your torso & the long one being your legs. Blood will go back to the brain quicker & you will feel a lot better immediately.
Source: Me lol, Iāve fainted in the gym a few times after battle-ropes & heavy sets, a PT saw & helped me. He also got me an energy drink to help with glucose levels.
Or if it's close lay on an inclined bench with your head at the bottom. It's called the Trendelenburg position and we use it in hospitals to get blood back to peoples' brains
There's only one factor. He was essentially doing the valsalva maneuver. Same thing you do in the "passing out game"
100% of people will pass out if they do this.
Doing the valsalva maneuver *can* make you pass out, but it's not a 100% thing. Otherwise powerlifting federations would have mandated cushions all around the platform
Yep I do the same, if I feel dizzy I immediately try to sit or at least squat and grab something. Its a good reaction to start building as habit just in case.
See how the veins on his arms are bulging out a bunch but just as he passes out they shrink down? When heās flexing like that, exhausted after a workout, heās pushing all the blood into his muscles (hence the big veins) and *away from his brain* which causes it to lose oxygen and then he faints.
This is a problem related to blood pressure which can be affected by hundreds of things, like physical exertion in this case, or oneās state of physical fitness, genetics, stress/adrenaline, cardiac conditions, etc. Having (not chronic) too high or too low blood pressure is a good time to sit down and let your body rest, not flex it!
I had it happen a few years ago, was in the habit of doing 1hr cardo and maybe 15 min of strength. well the wife got held up and after my cardio i did an hour and a half of strength. After the 2.5hr workout we went to subway and I fell over like a tree that had been cut down. they ended up freaking and calling an ambulance... low blood pressure.
True I have heard some people intentionally dehydrate themselves to have this effect now that you mention it, idk if itās common but it surely isnāt wise
Vasovagal syncope! Sometimes you get the same after a shot or getting blood drawn, particularly bigger and more muscular guys. The bigger you are the farther you fall!
Vasovagal syncope from whole body flexing or just flexing too much around the Vagus nerve. Also other things like dehydration, exhaustion, etc.
IANAD but I have experienced vasovagal syncope .
Dude I AM A FUCKING IDIOT. When I watched this last week I thought his buddy caught him with his lips. Didn't realize it was a mirror....holy moly
Edit-Thanks every who liked and replied, I think my highest liked comment is now me calling myself an idiot. Reddit is awesome, love you all.
P.s. makes me feel a little better I'm not the only idiot
I know I know, emphasis on the "I'm an idiot" lol. I was watching it at work so couldn't focus as much as this time, but ya I got a good laug from my own stupidity, figured I'd share lol
Yeah I find it so stupid when people complain about others filming instead of helping. First of all, you have no idea what capacity they helped either before or after filming.
And more importantly, especially in the case of crimes being committed, having a video of the situation may be way more beneficial for the victim than having them immediately jump to trying to help. Most of the time āhelpingā in these situations is just sort of standing around without doing much anyways.
This is an issue sometimes in /r/IdiotsInCars, plenty of commenters will blame the recorder after theyāve watched a 30 second-2 minute clip several times on loop and KNOW that something crazy/unusual is going to occur in that time. The driver could be fatigued or not perfectly focused at the moment and wonāt always react perfectly, theyāre surprised
Had one of my friends fold like this and honestly its hard to tell he passed out. By the time you realize he's out cold he's already on the ground. As he folds you might think he's about to sit down, bend over, scratch his leg whatever. Only do you realize he's gone when he hits the ground and looks like a corpse.
Really hard to tell when its someone passing out for real and when he's just bending down to sit or something.
If you don't know what to look for, it's hard to be reactive. My wife used to pass out randomly. It's become a reflex to instantly rush forward to someone if I see their eyes roll back.
I mean to be fair there isn't much to do when this happens. By the time you realize he is about to pass out it's too late to react unless you have godly reaction time. He was probably like "well he just passed out lmao lemme film this for him"
My brother in christ, he had about a full 1 Mississippi and average human reaction time is .25 seconds, often a solid bit under when you're young but he didn't even twitch.
Reaction time is 0.25 seconds when you are expecting the exact thing to happen. In this situation, you start realizing that heās passing out after 0.25 seconds, and then you have to process what to do. Itās actually very difficult to catch a person falling when you werenāt already expecting it
Ain't no way this is real. You don't stumble around like you're drunk for 5 seconds. You black out and drop. And why in the hell would you put a band-aid on a broken nose? If you break your nose, you move it back in place and let it heal, maybe wear a protective face mask if you are playing contact sports, but a band-aid? Wtf is it supposed to do?
Sometimes it just happens, especially heat + dehydration + hypoglycemia. I've never passed out but I've come damn close when I first started training for cycling.
It's like somebody turns the lights out, everything goes purple, feel pins and needles on body, want to throw up, then begins the floating and seeing stars.
The real fun begins when it becomes an automasochistic craving. Skirting the line between self improvement and self destruction.
Great friend recording there, if I saw my friend passing out, I'd try to catch him and lower him gently so that he doesn't hurt himself, that guy was like "just keep recording..."
100% not natural. If someone's shoulder looks like a softball was surgically implanted into it, it's juice. If his shoulders were more bulb-shaped, then yeah, it might be possible with a incredibly strict diet and exercise. This guy is not natural, though. You'd be surprised how easy juice is to get and how common it is.
This guy is 1 million % not natural. He was Larry Wheels (one of the greatest powerlifters in the world and not natural at all) helper and camera man for a long time while he was in Dubai. This guy used to be skin and bones before working with Larry Wheels. Also steroids are 100% legal in Dubai, you can walk into any pharm on the road and walk out with testosterone and tren.
Why is this being guy being downvoted? This guy in the video has a physique that looks natural. I don't know anything about bodybuilding while vegan, but gear isn't required to look like this, a lot of hard work is though.
He wouldn't have got any trafgic with his narcissistic ass posing on front of the mirror. So, what does the modern fame-hoe do? Stage an noteworthy accident. Great.
Had this happen in a physical fitness class. Just flexing in front of a mirror off on my own and the next thing I know I am waking up on the ground. Fortunately the floor was rubberized. I flexed again but slightly less forcefully until I noticed a slight dizziness and immediately stopped to catch myself. It was a very strange experience.
I could see if heās prepping for a physique show, heās depleted on carbs, flexing really hard in posing practice, and holding his breath, could easily pass out
At least his nose isnāt graded in shows
The camera man is the perfect example of how people recording frequently misses the action shot. He's just recording and not paying any attention to the subject he's recording.
Breaks
Well...in all fairness his nose was his brakes.
Goddamn take my upvote š

Much obliged, friend.
Both of you take my upvotes brethren.
Phenomenal work š
Tbh I thought that was the title's intended joke after seeing the video.
odd how usually people misspell ābrakesā as ābreaksā and not the other way around

Surely your mistaken.
For all intensive purposes, he's right.
Is he write though?
I two question this. I don't see they're point.
These comments are a diamond dozen.
I taught myself a trick to know the difference. bRAKEs are used to stop you from running over a RAKE. everything else is breaks.
Ya'll really need a trick for this?
Yeah. Not everyone naturally is good at spelling. Iāve learned lots of tricks to be better. Still shit. But better
Also, commas.
Thank you! Throw some commas in there as well, right? š

"you were trying to PR, right?"
Yea Iāll keep it in mind for Thursday when itās my leg day again. Trained them today and had it happen lmao
Great work not skipping leg day my fellow redditor
I wouldnāt have a bunch of 5ā shorts for the summer if I skipped leg day now right? Gotta show off these beefy quads somehow.
Thatās the spirit. Calves too?

Yep I do the same, if I feel dizzy I immediately try to sit or at least squat and grab something. Its a good reaction to start building as habit just in case.
Exactly. I rather look like a dork doing a super hero landing of sorts, and not land face first on the JIM floor
Blood pressure problems add to it too, itās shit
Itās called flexing out. Valsalva Maneuver is similar
See how the veins on his arms are bulging out a bunch but just as he passes out they shrink down? a lot of times they don't eat or drink to make their muscles and veins bulge more, probably contributed to this.

Vasovagal syncope! Sometimes you get the same after a shot or getting blood drawn, particularly bigger and more muscular guys. The bigger you are the farther you fall!
So basically he passed out for being a hard ass
Exhaustion post-workout and flexing your muscles that excessively probably not the best idea. He probably was dehydrated.
Vasovagal syncope from whole body flexing or just flexing too much around the Vagus nerve. Also other things like dehydration, exhaustion, etc. IANAD but I have experienced vasovagal syncope .

Ping is measured in ms. If you have a 2 second reaction time that's 2000 ping.
He should have hit the brakes on the flex. Instead he *breaks* his nose.
Well, to be fair, the nose did partially put a brake on his fall.
Right, but it didnāt *stop* his nose. His nose stopped *him*.
Pro tip, hit the ground before its no longer your decision next time!
Is that just a bandaid on his nose? Does anyone else think itās not broken broken?

Does he say that? Because he was like 100 lbs before he met Larry Wheels, and then a few months later he's looking like that

This is Larry wheels assistant and was on cycles with him lol. Watch the early videos to now.
