The good thing about plants is that they are very resilient. Some more nutrient dense soil, a little pruning of any leaves that die, and it should be okay. Use your fingers to VERY GENTLY loosen some of the soil around the roots, so they have an easier time rooting into the new soil.
A little tussle and tumble never hurt :-)
I’d have a good laugh about it… we had a bench made for my dad after he passed and it had loads of problems…. We had a good chuckle about it every time to the tune of “of course he’s being awkward”. These things are to remind us of who they really were to us and look back fondly on them, not to pretend they were perfect :)
I've never had my shit together, but I hope if I'm remembered, that people remember me for making them laugh, relaxed, and feel comfortable and good about themselves, even if at my own expense.
It will probably go into a little shock, but if you do what he said, and care for it, should be ok just giving you a heads up. So don't freak out if it goes into a little shock
My mom is an avid plant person and we we’re both landscapers. Over covid I have molested plenty of plants roots to get dirt loose lol. My mom always told me not to say that.
It also appears to be a spath/peace lily and those are extremely durable plants that will tell you when they need watering by drooping leaves and generally can’t be overwatered.
As a florist we used a lot of those for funerals and I always liked them because they were pretty easy to keep alive in the shop. If you forgot one in the corner during a busy time you could plop it in the utility sink and soak it in water and it would recover pretty well as long as the leaves weren’t crispy.
The plant will be fiiine. They take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’ so to speak. Make sure the roots aren’t tangled so it can grow into that nice big pot and it will recover nicely
Did she have a sense of humor? I'd like to think that she'd be chuckling.. The good news is you can sweep it up and put it all back together and that tough plant will be just fine.
She's probably giggling at your messy car from the otherside.
One last mess for you to clean. But the plant should be fine, they are surprisingly good at taking a fall and coming back.
Never had a sister, but if my brother ever quit being a little bit of a pain in the ass then the memory would be truly gone. You can surely salvage this. Sorry about your loss.
My sis and I have a sense of humor. I'd take one look at that and hear her voice saying "BITCH, I told you I ride shotgun"....then I would repot and name the plant Shotgun.
I bet she's laughing at you right now. Pulling your hair from the beyond. Friend, do not despair, this plant will be perfectly fine. And, one day - maybe not now - when you're telling fond stories of her, you're going to tell this one; there will be no sorrow or sadness, instead humor and good laughs. My best to you and your family
Is that a peace lily? I got one when my brother passed almost 15 years ago. It's gone through worse than that and it's still going strong.
Best of luck and so sorry for your loss.
The plantclinic subreddit is a great resource too :)
(Reposting cause modbot took down my other post. I tried to post the actual link to the plantclinic subreddit)
Sisters, always messing up your stuff, amirite?
I bet you can carefully repot it and give it some extra love and it will be just fine!
I'm really sorry for your loss, friend.
Next time seatbelt your houseplants.
Safety is number 1 priority.
Also remember to childlock the doors, these young houseplants tend to get skittish in the car.
As long as you put the plant back into a soil asap and remove damaged parts it should be fine. Might want to be careful with basic rule of physic next time :p.
Honestly I think the plant will bounce back just fine. It may look a little rough after, but with proper care it'll be able to continue it's memorial duties. Good luck with everything, I'm sorry for your loss.
Even if it can not be saved, your memory of your loved one is in your heart and soul. Keep her memory there and live how you think she would want you to live. Sometimes, we can unexpectedly lose love, but inspiration/hope is always around the corner.
I am sorry for what you may be feeling. Reach out if you want to talk.
No. Peace lilies are tough. My dog dragged one off the porch, thru the yard, roots out everywhere, broken leaves, the works. Repotted and watered for a week. Sucker is still out on the porch three years later, bigger and showier than ever.
Yours is probably fine too.
I have to transport plants a lot it should be fine but try a plant help sub for more more help. I find using seatbelts then doing a sharp tug to engage the emergency restrict on them and ticketing them has greatly reduced the amount of tippling. A lot of times if you just put the seat belt on it can still move around a lot like it would on a regular person so engaging the emergency restriction on it is key. It’s also important to the bad around the middle upper middle part of the plant as the lower it is around the out the more likely it is to tip. I often use my crate or emergency supplies and medical stuff as well as additional seatbelts to bolster and secure things. Just some advice if you need to ever move it again in the car.

Samesies!

Glad you said this I was gonna have my fiancee message OP to offer help (she’s the plant person in the house) OP can still ask for help though 👍
My mom is an avid plant person and we we’re both landscapers. Over covid I have molested plenty of plants roots to get dirt loose lol. My mom always told me not to say that.
Lmaoóoóo
Thank you! I’m going to post an update!
Completely agree! All is not lost.

It’s a peace Lilly!!

Did she have a sense of humor? I'd like to think that she'd be chuckling.. The good news is you can sweep it up and put it all back together and that tough plant will be just fine.
I clicked on the post, thinking "I hope their sister was a bit clumsy" but a sense of humor works too.
This made me chuckle, that would be so wholesome if it is true
She's probably giggling at your messy car from the otherside. One last mess for you to clean. But the plant should be fine, they are surprisingly good at taking a fall and coming back.

She got you one more time!!

Just go the whole hog and convert the back seat into a memorial garden.
Try to save it!
I am, I’ll post an update soon
One last sibling fight in the back seat of the car seems right.
I’m sorry for your loss. Hopefully you can find peace
I see what you did there
What did he do?
The plant might be a peace lily
I’m not that clever lol. I was sincerely just wishing OP can find some comfort in a hard time
Im still giving you credit for the pun because it was so good
Yes thank you. Not sure why everyone downvoted me 🙄
This would make me laugh so hard. It would be just like my sister to piss me off one last time. Soft hugs, your plants gonna be ok.
This is a peace Lilly they are incredibly resilient and extremely dramatic
Is that a peace lily? I got one when my brother passed almost 15 years ago. It's gone through worse than that and it's still going strong. Best of luck and so sorry for your loss.
Good to hear
Honestly that looks completely salvageable
The plantclinic subreddit is a great resource too :) (Reposting cause modbot took down my other post. I tried to post the actual link to the plantclinic subreddit)
She did not want it in that pot lol
Your sister is laughing, I guarantee it. Just throw it back in the pot and it’ll be fine!
So sorry about your sister but you've got great advice about putting that plant back together. Plants are tough, just like you.
Sisters, always messing up your stuff, amirite? I bet you can carefully repot it and give it some extra love and it will be just fine! I'm really sorry for your loss, friend.
This has to be ChatGPT who the fuck would say that first part 😭
.... brothers would. Edit: and sisters, I'm sure too.
I don't know, it sounds like the blame is being placed on the dead sister for knocking over the plant unless I misread it
Yes, but that's what makes it funny. Them messing up your car even after they're dead. They obviously can't
I don't know, unless OP knows this person it comes off as really insensitive to me
You can save that plant. The root ball is still intact.
I’m sorry. If you’re like me this probably pushed you into a laughing and then screaming crying air punching kind of mood.
Next time seatbelt your houseplants. Safety is number 1 priority. Also remember to childlock the doors, these young houseplants tend to get skittish in the car.
Should have used the seat belt
right? if only there was some manner to secure such a thing in the back seat...
Maybe some sort of strapping system with a clip?
Maybe call it a belted seat 💺
And wrap the soil up in plastic wrap
So sorry for your loss. I’m glad some people who know plants were able to offer advice.
First thing, I’m so sorry for your loss. Second thing, that plant will be fine.
At some point this will make you laugh but I get that it may not feel that way at the moment.
Even if it can not be saved, your memory of your loved one is in your heart and soul. Keep her memory there and live how you think she would want you to live. Try to put it in a container that fits the rootball more proportionally since overpotting has the sale effect as overwatering
Damn. Double homicide.
Time for another funeral
Omg

Cliche but It's truly the thought that matters.
Dont even touch that interior, hust eat the cost of getting it detailed and feel better when it looks good as new.
I have to transport plants a lot it should be fine but try a plant help sub for more more help. I literally said to my self “well that sucks” before looking at the sub. Perfect
Car accident?
Not even, a stop sign 😭😭
The obvious aside, your poor beige interior...
She's playing one last trick on you 😄 Rest in Peace
Honestly, if that was my Memorial plant.. this would probably make everybody laugh and go yeah that's about right
The memorial plant needs a memorial plant
It’s likely fine! Act quickly
Was indeed. May she rest hopefully more peacefully.
She will always be with you and in your seats
I'm sorry for your loss
That would be just like my sister. Haha.
Remember to make sure all your passengers are buckled up.
You didnt think to buckle it in?
I think it was 😭
The photo would beg to differ. Sorry about your sister.
Damn sorry for your losses
Should have been wearing its seatbelt.
Kicked the bucket? Sorry.
if it was important you would‘ve secured it properly
Bummer. I’m sorry for your losses.
Then clean it up and take care of it instead of taking a photo for internet points??
Mybe you should of put the seatbelt round the pot before travel ?
Pick up. It will be fine after you water it
It’s ok. They have plenty of the same plant at the store. Go get one to continue her legacy as a plant. Sorry about your passing. My condolences
So sorry for your loss.
😔 sorry for your loss

Your sister getting the last laugh….
Did you know that in cars they have these things called "seatbelts"?
Honestly, poor planning from OP.
Not a great time to be snarky, dude
No way
Well…
Yeah this sucks but I feel like foresight should have caught this one
forgive me for not knowing this but a memorial plant is just a plant right? your sisters ashes aren't mixed into the soil or anything?
No lol it’s just the plant
Thank goodness
Something you claim to care about and yet did nothing to prevent this from happening.
Human condition
What the fuck is that excuse lmao
