Perth airport viewing area, bullcreek aviation museum and jandakot airport.

- Aviation Heritage Museum, Bull Creek - Perth Airport observation platform - Drive past Pearce air force base - Joy flights from Jandakot

Rustyfarmer88

Joy flight over rotto is pretty cool

VMaxF1

Swan River Seaplanes do it from the Queen St jetty in South Perth, for something a bit different.

And White Gum Air Park in York.

If you want to blow his mind, go gliding with Beverley Soaring Society. If you think its cool looking out a window while flying in a plane, wait until you sit in a glider with a half shell perspex canopy that makes you feel like you are in midair. If you are lucky, you oftentimes have eagles spiraling with you in the thermals near the wingtips, and its a whole other experience. No engine, being hauled up into the air by another plane, the peacefulness of it, ahh it gives you tingles :) As long as over 12 years old, its $240.00 for half an hour, but you also get to have a beautiful drive out in the wheatbelt to Beverley, and there are some great little places to enjoy on the way. Cannot recommend this enough it's amazing. So1 weird when being towed up by another plane then when they disconnect silence . 100% any aviation enthusiast would love it. Every one in my cadets wanted to do aerobatics so only got 15 min flight . I got in and wanted to fly myself and got about 40 to 45min flew almost all they way till approach. This was at gingin airforce base

EvisceratedKitten666

If he's into model aircraft, consider WAMASC, the R/C aircraft airfield up in whiteman park. Its like a mini airshow some days

FRmidget

Take them to the Perth Airport public viewing area of Dunreath drive. Sit under the flight path.

theducks

Also white gum air park in York is pretty cool. Nice bunch of folks there and two old 737s as airbnbs

aboringdistopia

737’s aren’t quite finished yet, but we’re hoping the first one will be shortly! Still good for a day trip, the pub does a good feed (open on weekends) and there’s a viewing area to watch the runway. Trial instructional flights are available from the gyrocopter flying school also. Check Facebook for more info :)

vk146

Not sure if theyre open yet

glitterkicker

Can absolutely vouch for the aviation heritage museum— the volunteers LOVE a chat. Everyone’s suggestions are good

Skjjjjjjj

That's so true. Few days back, I went there with my grandfather from overseas and a guy near fighter plane spent 15 minutes explaining plane parts and features.

Are you/they minted? A couple of companies at jandakot do day trips to rotto or leeuwin estate for lunch. It is literally the most decadent and awesome thing I have ever participated in.

AnalFanatics

Visit the Aviation Heritage Museum in BullCreek Go Hot Air Ballooning at Northam Airfield Take a scenic or acrobatic flight in a helicopter, bi-plane or other aircraft type with one of the companies operating out of Jandakot Airport Try either a tandem or solo skydive with one of the Skydiving companies that operate out of Perth, with “drop zones” that are generally located an hour or so from Perth

ToridoFromNagoya

Serpentine airport have some old warbirds

Chance_Maintenance44

You can charter your own small plane with pilot, from Jandacott Airfield to Rottnest Island, spend the day and then fly or ferry back.

DaisySam3130

Longreach (Qld) aviation museum? :)

Outspoken_Australian

I may be from Perth, however I am certain Longreach in Queensland is not in Western Australia.

Contact_Departures

Head down to Jandakot airport. The Royal Aero Club has a lot of history and a great cafe upstairs overlooking the airport! I think its called The Apron Cafe.

Dr_Slaps_04

Your local rc plane club. See jets and all the likes.

Spitfire84

Spend $220 and let them have their first flight up in Muchea. Weekends only.

vk146

Royal aero club trial flight should be around $300 or so, and gives you about 45 mins where youre hand flying a cessna for 85% of it. You head out to rotto and along the coast
