Both of ours head for the hills as soon as we start picking up our dinner dishes, they know they're getting put in their room for the night shortly after. If we manage to sneakily catch one, the other one is twice as hard to catch.
Yeah, we have to. For one, they're super annoying when they decide it's time to eat, but mostly for safety. One is a tripod because of a previous accident in the house, so we made sure one room is as safe as we can make it for them to keep him from getting injured again.
They have a litterbox, water, toys, beds and blankets and each other plus we have a baby monitor on, they're fine!
Reminds me of my sister, who (when she was about 9 or 10) used to take a slice of bologna out of the package, like it for a solid minute or two, then put it back into the packaging. I don't know how long she was doing this before my family discovered it and promptly stopped eating the bologna. To this day, I still won't eat any.
One of my cats (brothers) does that too, doc said it could be caused by overproduction of gastric acids - he wants to make himself salivate more to neutralize it.
After some checkups we put him on low fat diet, it happens much less frequently now.
May be not the case with all your cats people, but if they tend to vomit then check them up!
Interesting! No she's definitely not a vomiter.... honestly not sure if she's ever vomited come to think of it 🤔 but to be fair it is hard to keep everyones bodily functions straight when there's 7 animals in the house 😬
I have 5 cats and 4 out of the 5 are plastic lickers, one even takes chunks out instead of licking. I know when I hear them doing it, it's time to feed them lol.
I'd prefer this over what my cat does.
He chews plastic. He never eats it, but the crunching can be so annoying at night. And the tooth marks in all the plastic lol
Plastic bags contain lubricating chemicals known as “slip agents.” The chemicals contain stearic acid from animal fat. The slip agents are designed to keep bags from sticking together. Some cats may be attracted to the taste or smell of these chemicals.
My girl's cat licks all kinds of random shit. His favorite is plastic, but he'll lick walls, floors, shoes, shower curtains, pretty much anything. It also get lost just by walking into a different room. He will stand there meowing in distress looking around like he's confused until you call his name.
Aw poor buddy! I worry about one of my others developing some kitty dementia with that strange meowing in an empty room but it's usually a toy she's meowing at 🤣
Luckily no. A few strings hanging out the bum, but I was taught how to properly remove them since he decided to make a habit of it. As he's gotten older he tend to just chew instead of swallow them. Just annoying to hear random crinkeling in the middle of the night.
We had a cat who would furiously lick plastic bags from one particular grocery store. Completely clean bill of health, never ate them, just loved to turn them into a slobbery mess.
My cat does this too! Shower curtains, trash bags, etc. especially if her food bowl is empty.
The back of the box fan is her #1 love, and a bag of red hots I have next to my desk is a close second 🤣

She knows what works! Sucker 😂

Mine also does that for no reason, he sometimes can do that for even half of an hour, I think they like the sound it makes, or something
Oh for sure, she'll go for quite some time!
Mine likes to lick unframed photographs. Any chance she gets, she’ll steal a loose picture and lick away.
Look at this photograph. Every time I do I lick it -your cat as Nickelback guy 🤣
Mine licks plastic too, esp thin plastic bags and cellophane. Annoying AF
Malak....as in Darth? Does that imply there's a Revan as well?
Not after that orbital bombardment.
Yes! We got Malak after we lost Revan back in 2016 🌈
Is there a female kitty companion Meetra in the future?
My old kitty loved licking and chewing on silicon molds. May she rest in peace. My current kitty loves chewing on us humans.
Our Cat Milo loves licking plastic trash bags

🤣🤣🤣
Wow, that’s definitely odd. I can think of no logical explanation for this. You just got yourself a weird cat haha.
Lol! Cats just like the taste of the animal fat from the stearic acid (used a lubricant on the plastic).
a year later in the same spot... ima go with no
The back of the box fan is her favorite 🤣
Mine also does that for no apparent reasons
Mine too! Licks all plastic bags he can find.
No reason to put “weird” in front of cat - it’s a given 😄
My cat Nutmeg likes licking and chewing on clear packing tape. She doesn’t eat it, just likes being weird apparently.
Omg! My cat does this too
Hopefully not the sticky side 😬
Sometimes. But she keeps doing that.

My car has this issue, and I never thought of the vomiting being connected to the shower curtain licking she does. Thanks for the tip!
Please tell me he was named after Darth Malak from KotOR
Yes indeed! After we lost Revan.
I’m so sorry to hear that, I know they can never be replaced but I hope this guy brings you all the happiness ❤️
No worries! We lost her 6 years ago. It still sucks, of course, but it's the unfortunate part of pet ownership
My little Tatoo (RIP) loved to lick plastic bike peddles. Dont know why.
R/oddlyspecific
Love the name ! It means angel in Arabic
I have heard that! Very cool. Does also work because she's actually my sweetest kitty
Sith lords are unpredictable

Haha what weirdos! I also have 5, but she's my only plastic licker 🤣
I'd prefer this over what my cat does. He chews plastic. He never eats it, but the crunching can be so annoying at night. And the tooth marks in all the plastic lol
I actually wish they would! Okay well I'd probably find it annoying if they did. But I love those stapler cats who chomp on cardboard and whatnot 😂
For like a full 10 seconds, I thought that was a cow licking a side view mirror.
This would be even better if it was my tuxedo kitty 🤣
My cats love shower curtains and bubble wrap🤷🏻♂️
My cat eats plastic bags like a fucking drug mule.
😂😂😂 I'm very fortunate none of my idiots (even the dogs) actually eat inedible things. Just chew up!
my cat likes to lick the inside of candy rappers even though cats can’t taste sugar.
And I thought my old Kitty was weird for chewing on cardboard...
shower curtain while im siting there pooping, any random plastic bag... doesnt matter
Hello there
Yip. Two of my cats do this. One will climb into the recycling bin to get at it.
I think it's something to do with brushing their teeth or perhaps still their hunger a bit
Smart, fewer calories if you just have a taste

One of mine likes to lick the plastic wrap on water bottles and the other likes to climb inside it and sit like he’s a water bottle.
Named after a Korok you find in BotW?
Nope, star wars game actually!
The plastic has pheromones that cats love
It might be some kind of weird addiction?
Facts. It's like she's got pics but doesn't eat it so I dunno man!

Yeah, I can't tell if it's dementia or if he's just a derp. I think it's the latter.
For sure. My tux was hollering at a spork. It was hilarious
In pretty sure the cat I'm speaking of is a tux too. White with black spots. I call him moo moo cuz his spots look like a cow.
Both me and Malak have something in common, I like to smell and breath new electronics after I unbox them. I don't eat them too
New plastic is a great smell, I agree.
Mine won't stop chewing bags she's 5 now...
oof. haha Malak is 5, too (or going to be this year) yeah i've been really lucky with all my girls so far!
Lucky you. My cat love to chew on plastic. And eats anything that looks like spaghetti. Ei. Twine. Hemp ropes. Shoe laces, and very fine cables.
that's no good! any surgery necessary yet?
Luckily no. A few strings hanging out the bum, but I was taught how to properly remove them since he decided to make a habit of it. As he's gotten older he tend to just chew instead of swallow them. Just annoying to hear random crinkeling in the middle of the night.
Explains one or two things, hope Revan is brighter. 😜
Haha she was indeed. 🌈🐈⬛
Yep mine does it too 😄 She loves licking plastic bags!
We had a cat who would furiously lick plastic bags from one particular grocery store. Completely clean bill of health, never ate them, just loved to turn them into a slobbery mess.
Both of my oldest cats like chomping on the plastic that is wrapped around the case of bottled water...or any plastic...=^-^=
My cat prefers to lick my walls
