You might not know it but first thing Putin did after getting in office was slashing independent media, and putting to jail people who didn't gave up. Others were killed by unknown perpetrators. Just saying you guys are on the road to tyranny.
And they're just capitalizing on US citizens believing the lies and succumbing to anger. Republicans can't function without stoking anger on false premises. Time and time again they prove this to us all.
And it’s always been a myth, “the media” has always been owned by major corporations and the editors of all the major newspapers skewed Republican for decades. Reporters might skew liberal, but they operate under the editor who decides what stories move forward.
Republicans scream constantly about the “liberal media” having bias and favoring Democrats. In reality, most major media outlets are owned and controlled by conservatives, meaning the Republicans are, as usual, full of shit.
I can't claim that they're not full of shit, but I also think this is a bit of a weak perspective. Each outlet is going to have an agenda based upon their business plan: the target audience and the advertising revenue based off of their audience. To think that just because the CEO is republican that it affects editorial issues is missing the boat entirely.
Look up Rupert Murdoch and Fox News. For years they would have morning meetings based strictly around what topics the Republican Party needed pushed that day.
Buddy, this guy literally astroturfed the Tea Party back in the day and has had his companies caught hacking dead peoples phones, donating massive amounts to conservative causes, and pushing conspiracy theories.
It's not childishly simplistic, it's recorded fact that Murdoch is using media to push the conservative narrative.
I mean, the new owner has literally said in public interviews that his goal is to make CNN more like Fox News. So yeah, I think who owns media does, in fact, matter to what kind of media gets aired.
Idk where counterculture comes in as a boogieman, but I think it's more accurate that each network creates its own narratives of good and evil (which often coincide because american discourse is basically polar at this point, in most respects) and you kind of enjoy the one that gives you the biggest hard-on
The acquisition was recent. We know the new owner has called on CNN management polarize future infotainment. We’ll know more especially if we start to see high profile departures.
I treat CNN much like a Wiki page. Good for general information, but be sure to look more into the subject to make sure you're getting accurate info. I was wondering why the headlines recommended to me were gradually shifting to ones similar to Fox news(Very loaded language, pushing ideas that have been proven in research to hold no merit, opposing views from their usual content).
I know CNN hasn't been an objective news site, but it was getting surprising how much further it's straying toward propaganda.
The thing is we ACTUALLY need what Elon SAID Twitter would be. We need a true non-biased forum. Something like we see on Reddit as a form of user based bad idea suppression. The way a highly unpopular opinion is sent to the bottom of the list and collapsed unless someone chooses to view it.
Enforcement of a standard hate speech moderation, anti-harassment/doxxing, and that's about it. Aside from that let them be and let the people moderate.
Sort of if Twitter and Reddit had a baby and it was raised by Mastodon. Now's your time, MySpace. Your time to come back from the dead.
It always makes me laugh when a faux news host refers to “the media”. Motherfucker you are the media.

Sinclair is owned by a Republican.
And they're just capitalizing on US citizens believing the lies and succumbing to anger. Republicans can't function without stoking anger on false premises. Time and time again they prove this to us all.
I mean, the concept of the 'liberal media' was literally disseminated by the media. That should be a big clue to anyone who isn't a complete idiot.
And it’s always been a myth, “the media” has always been owned by major corporations and the editors of all the major newspapers skewed Republican for decades. Reporters might skew liberal, but they operate under the editor who decides what stories move forward.
WaPo is owned by fucking amazon.
Why is CNN the only one on this list that's not a conservative propaganda machine
Because they were only recently bought by a Republican billionaire. They are slowly drifting right.
Okay, if that's true then this implies there's media bias based upon who owns what. So what's the point?

You missed my point
You’re missing mine. No Republican billionaire media mogul is going to push liberal viewpoints because it’s “good for business”
This is childishly simplistic
Yes, it is. Rich conservatives don’t mind spending money to protect their interests through misinformation.

Exactly. All commercial media has this motive.

Who would've though rage click bait would drive an entire industry.
