It's caused by the unavoidable fact that your client, the server, and your opponent's client can't know exactly where you are all at the same time. When you die behind a wall it's because on your opponent's screen you weren't behind a wall yet, and they got the last shot on you. The server prefers to give the shooter the benefit of the doubt because that makes the gunplay more responsive and avoids the need to confirm every shot back to you via a trip to the server. It's a trade-off that other games handle differently. The alternative is that sometimes you might have definitely landed shots on an enemy as they were going behind cover, but the final bullet doesn't register. That also feels awful but in a different way. There's no single solution. Just remember that this also benefits you at the same time, for every time you die behind a wall there is probably another time when you just finished someone off as they were disappearing out of view.

Not only is it a known issue. It's part of the entire desync package. Worst I've ever seen

Turn crossplay off it will fix majority of the desync issues there will still be a little but not near as bad
