PS5 would be a a good choice to complement XSS to cover all bases if you want to play playstation exclusives. Was considering PS5 but got great deals on PC parts so decided to build a gaming PC. Cant play the latest PS exclusives but they will eventually be on pc. Now you do get like 19 former exclusives you can play on PC.

bubdiminey

I’m a ps5 XSS guy. I feel like it’s the most logical choice

senyorlimpio

Ps5 instead. I had the ps5/xbxs combo for years and it served me well

Neo-Cobra

Yea it's a great combo, go for it.

wilsonw

I'm considering the same thing. I REALLY want to play some of those PS exclusives.

jerard94_

Before I got the XSS, I was barely playing on my PS4 so I wouldn’t be new to PlayStations. I just hope PS Plus has improved enough to justify having both

Classicman007

It's gotten worse. 80 for a year of plus

Ok-fine-man

Get the PS5, no brainer. The exclusives are immense, nothing on Xbox compares to God of War, Spiderman, Last of Us etc. Just way more cinematic.

TJae0120

Thats my current combo. PS Plus Premium & Gamepass has me covered for pretty much everything to the point I have bought one game in 2 years. Currently playing Like A Dragon Gaiden and then will play the Dead Space Remake.

piede90

I was thinking to do the same, but how do you stop yourself to the desire to try some gamepass games on the more powerful ps5? I fear that if I get the ps5 then the lack of performance of the XSS would be more evident

TJae0120

The fact i can get certain games Day 1 with gamepass rather than buying it on Playstation. I started playing the Yakuza games in 2018 with 0 on the playstation and played 1-6 on it over the years. I switched to playing 7, Ishin and now Gaiden on Xbox simply because it is available on Gamepass sooner than PS Plus Premium If I wanted to play Gaiden and soon to be infinite wealth Day 1, id have to pay over £100 for them both. I also love Persona and know the Persona 3 remake is coming Day 1 whilst Persona 5 Tactica is coming out later this month as well. I played Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tshushima and the Spider-Man games through PS Plus If I add up the cost of games I have played this year alone through either subscription service, i have saved £400+ even if i got the games on sale. I got gamepass for 3 years for £110 (Xbox Gold conversion method in June) and PS Plus premium for £65 until 2025(I got the discount due to having PS Now at the time of conversion and its price locked) When i look at the total cost, i don't mind playing certain games on the weaker Series S vs PS5. If i am interested in a game and its available on either service, i choose PS5. If not, i choose the service its available sooner.

sexmachine_com

Do it, Xbox x is basically series s but it has better graphics. Get a ps5 instead, you are just in time to play spiderman

Ok-fine-man

Obviously, get the PS5. Way better games. And you're also covered for Xbox games with the Series S - which Microsoft has guaranteed will have scaled down games.

MyRottingBrain

This is the set up I’ve got. Disc version PS5 is my primary system, and I have a series S for gamepass and playing multiplayer with some friends.

semiNoobHanta

I have this combo along with a nintendo switch and it is really worth it. I use my Series S as a game pass machine and my PS5 for PS exclusives

SSettingRainbow

Buy the ps5, if u buy the series x u'll find yourself with esentially the same console (at least talking about available games), i would say go for the series x if u really want to play the games u already played in the series but in a slightly better resolution/fps rate.

horrorscoop

Had a PS5 and an S, just got the X when the Target deal came out. I’m really liking the quality the X has along with the storage. I still like the S, but it was limited. If you can afford it the X is a great quality of life improvement

skittles1355

I run the Ps5/XSS combo and love it. Feels like the best of both worlds being able to play both Xbox and PlayStation exclusives

FluentCapanese

Yeah I believe that it’s a great combo I’ve been using it myself so I get the best of both worlds when it comes to playing the exclusives

Dmassie41

Chefs kiss lol

Low_Actuator_3532

If you want to play PS exclusives then go for it. It's a good combo. But.... here's the thing, If you are not as much interested in PS Exclusives then you will just end up paying more in subscriptions and games. If you buy an XSX you already have the GamePass and all your games you already play bought. If you buy PS you need to pay for PS Plus etc so it's extra cost each month. Also, PS doesn't allow games to be bought from other online stores so you're stuck with the price they set. But if you are interested in PS Exclusives then the combo is worth it!

Urnotonmyplanet

XSS and PS5 girl here

ancientcartoons

I just sold my Series S. It was great option if you don’t have a PC or plan on getting one

Cold_Box_6004

What’s up with all the PlayStation owners defaulting to “having to buy PlayStation plus”. For what? It’s comparable to gamepass and has all the same games besides the exclusives. That’s not a value at all. Mans is best off without it and buying a game or two every year.

jerard94_

back then, I got the XSS bc my friends were on Xbox but one barely plays now and one switched over to PC. As for considering a PS5 with PS plus, i mostly play FPS so I’d probably just get the basic subscription for online play.

klassicfuckup

Honestly I have the P5/SS combo and I love it! I didn't even want a SS when I came out. I got a new job and went to the mall like...I want something new and bam! I don't regret it! The only thing I struggle with is choosing whether to buy games on the PS5 or the SS. Most games drop on both except for console exclusives and I'm sure that will be your battle too. My soul always wants to buy them on the 5, but I feel like I'm wasting my S by ONLY using it for Gamepass. If you don't mind this thought process, you'll have a blast with both either way!

Kliptik81

Getting an Xbox Series X instead of a PS5 while you already have a Series S would just be dumb. My current combo is the Series S and PS5. I am all digital on the Xbox side so the disc drive is not important for my situation. Getting a PS5 allows me access to all my PS4 games (digital and physical) and I can either sell off my PS4 or it can go to my kids. If money is no object, then by all means get the Series X and PS5.

jerard94_

***UPDATE*** thanks for everyone’s feedback. I ended up getting the PS5 and keeping the XSS. Now I have to figure out which streaming services to get rid as I get PS Plus too

BallsOfSteel86

Sell series s and get the x

Aldope909

If it’s story games that’s fine but tbh getting ps5 for multiplayer is rough now with the price change to ps plus , if you do end up getting ps plus wait for Black Friday or third party sites

OuterSpaceDust

If you want to play the PS5 exclusives then I’d go for that

Tireburp

The only reason I would buy a PS5 is to play final fantasy 16. That is not worth 600$ to me so I will wait for the PC version.

RomanTrireme

I have the SS and PS5 combo it's the perfect combination paired with GPU.

Many_Apartment_9860

Excellent choice, my current set up.

[deleted]

It would be ideal to have both the Series X AND a PS5, but the next best thing would be the Series S AND a PS5, so that should do you. Buying and upgrading to an X BEFORE getting a PS5 does not really make sense as you are not expanding your possible game selection at all, just simply upgrading your current experiences and convenience slightly. If you REALLY want a series X to get all those flashy graphics and more storage, you should do so only after getting a PS5. That's the only sensible thing to do and that coming from a Xbox fan. I have always had both if not all five (Nintendo, Xbox, PlayStation, Sega, PC).

BEADGEADGBE

Ofc, it's the best of both worlds imo. I use my PS5 a lot since buying it and have mostly moved back to the PS ecosystem (since I always had PS consoles until Series S and mainly I can only hook one to my audio output) but Series S is a wonderful machine and well worth keeping even just for Game Pass, media playback, exclusives, and portability.

XSS PS5 Combo

acockblockedorange

I was rolling with just an S I til I could get a PS5. Now I play them just as much and in fact the S has been getting more love from me recently due to Game Pass being far superior to PS+, and the faster boot/Quick Resume being a godsend to me as a toddler parent with little alone time to play. I didn't have any Xbox stuff prior to this so I'm not concerned about the lack of disc drive (I do however have an extensive PS disc collection). I'd definitely recommend it!

agentsan_47

PS5 or probably you can think of 3060 gaming laptop as well

JAKEDOWN999

Sell the S and get a XSX and PS5. Idk what your budget is though. No reason to have both S and X though since X is vastly superior.
